But I don't think Avengers 3 can be a two-parter because of Evans's and Downey's contracts. Unless they both die in part 1 haha.

And as for revenue, I'm sure the Disney shareholders will be happy with yearly Star Wars in the meantime.

If it were all shooting all in one go I doubt there'd be to many problems... Still, it's just a personal want, regardless of its likely hood

But it would be double work for Downey and Evans, wouldn't it? I doubt they'd be ok with one movie morphing into two.
I would actually like a two-parter as well btw. By the time Avengers 3 hits there will be so many characters and you possibly can't include all of them in a satisfying manner within a single film.

I just think for a movie that hopes to cover the scope of the Thanos and Infinity Gauntlet story, it has to be more than one movie... There's enough content to carry it, and imagine the first part ending with Thanos putting on the Gauntlet - would be fantastic. Of course, Joss also said he doesn't really like cliff-hangers - but it could be done in so a way that there's some sort of conclusion, but the threat of Thanos is still very much looming.

People would probably whine and say that they're copying HP Deathly Hallows as it ends with Voldemort getting his hands on the Elder wand.

I don't want a cliffhanger or two part film. Just whittle it down to a 2.5 hour film. Problem solved.

People would whine regardless, aha

It's just a personal want of mine, I know it won't happen... And there are plenty others who would much prefer one single movie, which is totally understandable and I would be totally fine with

I don't get why someone would actually want something gimmicky like splitting a movie into two parts.

^^ It's hardly 'gimmicky' if the story actually needs it. We don't know what Marvel's plans are - they may want a huge Infinity movie, which could need it.

The Hobbit wouldn't work as one movie, and the final Harry Potter would have suffered as a single movie. It's only gimmicky if it's being done because other studios have successfully done it (Twilight + Divergent I'm looking at you)

If it adds to the story, and makes it a better experience overall - of course I'd want a two part movie.

I'd ideally want two separate movies that tell the story - I don't want some huge cliffhanger that leaves everything in doubt. Just a tease, an idea that there's more to come, that maybe the story isn't quite finished. But it won't happen, so

Actually, the Hobbit would have worked just fine as one 2.5-3 hour movie. That's one of the big complaints about the films, that Peter Jackson has tried to stretch a not very long book over three 3 hour films, and it DRAGS as a result.

It really wouldn't surprise me if the Avengers 3 was split into 2 parts with the 1st Movie being in November and the 2nd part being in May. Who knows though I think we need to see where GOTG and Marvels Avengers 2 before we start worrying about Avengers 3.

I expect we'll get a forum after SDCC

Really looking forward to what Marvel and Scott Derrickson have planned for Strange

I know it isn't one of the highly rumored new films, but I would love for Namor to be somewhere in the 9 film line up.

Of course, I'm not expecting or predicting that, since lately the only time he has been brought up has been Kevin Fiege answer questions about him to explain how complicated his rights are. So I don't expect it, but I would love it.

exactly. plus, there are tons of highly epic movies that are just about two hours long. there is absolutely no point in splitting Avengers 3 into two parts

Id like a two parter Avengers 3, that would be an awesome epic goodbye for the first team.

The longer action/stuff/development, the better. And if other franchises with less exciting material can have them, cool superheroes deserve it too

Is there a seminal Dr. Strange story like Winter Soldier?

I don't think there's much question that the Dr. Strange film will be anything other than a take on an origin. Look for a take on that story in his upcoming film.

I think the only question is whether in addition to Dr. Strange's classic origin story (Ancient One, Mordo, etc.), we are introduced to any of the Dark Dimension's denizens like Dormammu, Umar, or Clea.

Dormammu ties in to Mordo pretty heavily. There was an old rumor that Mordo, Dormammu and Mindless Ones would all feature in the movie, though that could have changed (or been inaccurate).

Honestly, I'd be shocked if its inaccurate, just because its obvious. Its like betting that a Cap origin movie will involve Red Skull and Nazis.

Anyway, other really major stories include the Shuma Gorath arc, and "A Separate Reality". There's a few other that come to mind, but they involve other characters that are unavailable ( the arc where he had to save Galactus from being killed, and confront Death, for instance ).

Splitting Infinity Gauntlet up into two films sounds wasteful and pointless.

1) Whatever set up is needed for "Infinity Gauntlet part 2" can be done in the other Phase III movies. There is literally no need to make IG Pt 1 a separate film
2) The big 3 actors are only contracted for enough films to do one Avengers 3 film. You either have to leave the big 3 out of part 1 or leave them out of part 2.

I mean imagine if Harry Potter had had Hermoine 3, Ron 3, Snape 2 and Luna Lovegood 2 and then ALSO split Deathly Hallows into two films. If Deathly Hallows is so important, wouldn't you set that up in all the films that are leading up to it?

And the way the actors contracts are, a two parter Avengers 3 simply can't happen. So... yeah.

On the good Dr.:

Dr. Strange 1: Baron Mordo, Clea
Dr. Strange 2: Dormammu, Mindless Ones
Dr. Strange 3: Shuma-Gorrath

Good times.

I kind of feel like trying to shove Dormammu, Baron Mordo, AND the Mindless ones all into one movie would be pushing it. You could maybe get away with doing two of those, but not all three. And I also want Clea to appear as well.
