the amount of american flags waving in the background is too damn high.
plus...lets keep the technology to destroy everyone else and protect it from all the others who may want to turn this into a weapon (which only we want to use and not the enemy) of course...

please stop it marvel....please.

and then there is dc: who cares about plot, we are just here to ***** things up

I completely agree, I've never read comics but I am now a fan of Iron Man, Thor, Cap(especially Cap), Black Widow, etc. because of how well they've been portrayed in the movies.

Actually watching the movies made me more of a comic fan. I’m a HUGE Iron Man fan because of the movies and how amazing RDJ is, but also cause of the comics and the way he’s portrayed there too. :D

Don't know where to put this,but...does anyone else find annoying How on the Fox-Marvel boards people continously bash the MCU to prove those movies superior? We MCU fans don't do that on MCU boards. What's that? Inferiority complex?

Because the MCU is currently "top dog" in the land of CBMs. In anything, (not just movies) whatever is the most popular is destined to get hated on by a minority who, for whatever reason, don't like it.

I see this a lot in comment sections for DCU trailers and such, too. Not just Fox films. I think Marvel Studios' being the top dog, as someone above me said, is the answer to your question. Definitely some kind of inferiority complex.

EDIT: You could see the same behavior against the Nolan Batman films as well.

At least with the DC fans, I can understand the reasoning. DC vs Marvel fan rivalry is a thing that predates the internet. Why, exactly, does Fox get its own, separate, fandom? That I do not understand. They've got a couple decent movies in a pile of crap: how the hell did they inspire this much loyalty? Does the first X-Men movie just sit in that important a place in the minds of a generation of fans? Do all the people who hate Marvel Studios for some unrelated reason migrate to Fox by default?

All I know is you can't scroll a couple of pages without seeing 'Ultron is a joke! Thanos looks like a cartoon!Marvel Villains suck! Their movies are all the same! ' and so on.

There's this guy on the IMDB boards who goes to every MCU movie board just so he can say that the MCU movies are "kiddie".

Far as I'm concerned, biggest strength of the MCU is that it can tell a story that is appropriate for adults who grew up on the characters, and youngsters who just love superheroes, like all of the aforementioned adults were at one point. The majority of the MCU films, especially the latest entry Ant-Man, are solid all-ages entertainment.

Yes, several notable writers have pushed the boundaries of the comic book medium with stories that are clearly for adults. The characters within the books are so versatile they can adapt to stories of any genre, for any age group, or target audience. But these books were created to (make money of course) but to entertain children. Alan Moore is one of the most prominent writers to shape the industry and even in his recent interviews he can see how the medium has been taken over by us older folk (I myself am 28). He can come off as a pretentious tool with the way he puts that notion into words, but it's a valid point, and one that merits further thought.

When I was a kid, I grew up on Burton's Batman. Me and my younger brother watched it so much I'm surprised the VHS didn't wear out. As a parent myself, I can't imagine what a bummer it must have been for a kid to want to see a movie like The Dark Knight Rises, because they love Batman, while the movie is made for us, not them.

Especially after seeing the BvS trailers, I feel like DC needs to be asked, "Why so serioUHS?!"

Yeah... I know that one... Wormhole9. Hopefully most people (who are sane, anyways) don't take anything that one says seriously (his/her/its arguments tend to have more holes than swiss cheese - add that onto the "i'm right everyone else is wrong" type mentality and they're a typical troll)

Wow that is sad. I don't get why people feel the need to hate well anything entertainment wise. If it's not for you it's not for you but that guys clearly trying to get a rise out of people.

Yeah, back in the 30's and 40's.

Kids can watch the darker DC movies just fine. They're not expected to understand the full extent of these stories, anyway. Do you think kids really care about or understand everything in Marvel movies, like the military industrial complex looming in the Iron Man movies, SHIELD/Hydra and how they emerged from WW2. These are adult themes, but wrapped in action scenes that kids can enjoy. Kids don't care about the themes in TDK, they care about Batman flipping the Joker's truck.

I think kids will absolutely love seeing Wonder Woman, Batman and Superman on screen together.

Speaking of Monica Rambeau, it will be curious to see how old she will be. Will she be closer in age to Paul Rudd or RDJ or Renner or Ruffalo? If so, names like Taraji P. Henson (44), Sanaa Lathan (42) and Gabrielle Union (42) could be options. Rudd is 46, RDJ is 50, Ruffalo is 47 and Renner is 44.

Or will she be closer in age to Chris Evans (34), Chris Hemsworth (32) or Scar Jo (30). In that case, then I can see Yaya DeCosta (33), Meagan Good (33) or Tika Sumpter (35). Slightly younger they can go with Sleepy Hollow's Nicole Beharie (30).

Or will they go somewhere in the middle like Benedict Cumberbatch (38), Chadwick Boseman (38), Chris Pratt (36) or Anthony Mackie (36). This is where they can cast Paula Patton (39), Naomie Harris (38) or Kerry Washington (38).

They won't go younger than 25 for Monica, so no names like Keke Palmer (21). I think the actress they hire for Monica will be somewhere in the middle.
I'd love that pick, but at the rate the MCU is going, she'll most likely be too old.

And the 50's and 60's. What DC films do we have since 2000 that are not "dark", as opposed to the "darker" ones? I'm sure the kids can enjoy it, I never stated they wouldn't. Like I said, as a kid myself I enjoyed Batman, and saw Batman Returns in theaters. The example of TDKR to me is the most prominent one, that movie deals with a lot of things that are either over a child's head, or unsuitable for them. Of course every kid is different, I used to love watching Terminator in 2nd grade. Granted, it was usually on TV, and I can't recall exactly when but I know I didn't see the unedited home video version until a while after that.

Marvel Studios just does a better job delivering a package that is equally suitable to all ages, I don't think that can even be disputed. To some, that makes them lighter kiddy fare, but to me, that is the staying true to Marvel Comics.

And that's fine, but once in a while I want a CBM to ease up on the jokes. I think it's a good balance between the two studios.

Which means that in 2019, we'll see Keke Palmer play Monica Rambeau. By that time she'll be 25/26, which would be the right age.

It's something I haven't seen until relatively recently. There are a small but vocal minority of people who are loyal to Fox and hostile to the MCU by default. Even though Marvel is the company where these characters originated, and is now the reigning king of the superhero movie world, they prefer the studio responsible for Barakapool, cloud galactus, and Domashev. That's all well and good, but it seems like an odd, mismatched rivalry.

Where is Captain Britain and MI-13?

Coming soon I hope? I love Captain Britain and Excalibur is one of my favorite comic books (it's so deep in mutants I don't think we would see that particular team though) so I hope we see characters like Captain Britain and Black Knight popping up soon.

Most of them just reallyreallyreally like the X-Men movies. They remind me of Star Wars prequel fans.

I hate people like that. I’m all for stating your opinion and stuff but to deliberately tarnish a good movie just to be spiteful isn’t fair. :/

Yeah! I for one especially find the MC/MCU and DC/DCCU fan rivalry to be extremely childish, pathetic and pointless. It's as if people can't grasp that there's room for both and that you can actually enjoy both. People put things down about one company just to give extra points to "their own" favourite.

It is exactly like the Microsoft and Sony fan rivalry, which is a pest of the gaming community.

I for one love that we'll get films of both worlds. Am I a bigger Marvel fan than a DC fan? Yes! But that doesn't mean I hate DC, in fact I love their stuff as well. I don't feel the need to bash aspects in DC films for the sole purpose of promoting Marvel. I think criticism can be given to a movie on its own without the purpose of bragging about another film franchise. I dislike for example Man of Steel, or Iron Man 2, but I don't need other films for my arguments as of why I dislike them. One should be able to base such arguments on the film of the matter alone.

People get so overly defensive as well. "I didn't like Zod", "OH, BUT YOU LIKE THE MARVEL FILMS!? THEIR VILLAINS ARE SO BAD, UUUUH!!! MARVEL SUCKS!!"

hello. Thought I stop by and say hello. So hello...fellow marvel fans :) Whats the topic tonight?

How the YellowJacket suit in which Stark will get a hold of will be molded into the Ironspider suit Tony gives to Peter at the end of Civil War......

I'm not looking to start a flame war since I like almost all of the MCU films (except for you Thor 2, IM2, and Avengers 2...huh something with the 2s?) But since you asked...

I can say that at least the Bryan Singer and Matthew Vaughn X-Men films (which is admittedly 4 out of 7 so far) are just handled with a lot more grace and ambition than most MCU films. There are exceptions to this rule like The Winter Soldier, but by and large, Marvel does not treat its material with as much dramatic aspirations as Singer or Vaughn does, nor do they really risk leaving the formula sheet as much (though neither studio has exactly made a Dark Knight either).

By this I mean that First Class felt way more like it was part of its '60s period with a real passion by Vaughn for that decade's Bondmania (which would carry over into Kingsman) than TFA felt like a movie set during World War II. Days of Future Past's robotic menace was incredibly daunting and threatening to the protagonists whereas Ultron felt like a Saturday morning cartoon show.

So for some, that is enough reason to welcome variety from a studio that doesn't mind letting it's "boy scout" (Xavier in this case) shoot up metaphorical heroin in the shadow of the Vietnam War. It just takes chances, which makes for more satisfying filmmaking and storytelling if not comic book fidelity.

In other words: it's different. Why not have both?
