MCU: The Marvel Cinematic Universe Official Discussion - Part 5

I'm guessing if Strange 2 opens in 2020 that means 2021 could be.

Feb - Black Panther 2

July/August-Eternals

November - Shang Chi

This gives 2021 much more variety otherwise the slate would have been highly cosmic focused if Strange 2 opened the same year as Eternals.

I like this slate a lot more, as well. For both years, actually.

The only downside to Strange 2 opening in 2020 is it means there still would be no third film for 2020. But hopefully we would get a Disney plus Marvel series sometime in the Summer to fill in that third film gap. Unless Eternals and Strange 2 opened the same year I just dont see it happening.

I really hope they can get 3 films ready for 2020. My schedule would be.

Black Widow - May

Eternals - August

Doctor Strange 2 - November
That's exactly where my mind went when I read about DS2.

It doesn't make any sense it would replace Eternals, since that movie is further along, what with casting currently under way and actually being announced by trades.

A shift in plans to include a 3rd movie, like Marvel Studios has been doing lately, makes much more sense.

That is assuming Eternals doesn't get bumped back to 2021 if Strange 2 is ahead of Eternals. Seems unlikely tho. Whats more likely happened is the scenario you described and they have added a third movie in 2020 which is Doctor Strange 2.

That is assuming Strange 2 is ahead of Eternals when we’ve heard absolutely nothing about it - whereas Eternals already has casting underway and a production start date.

EDIT: yeah, what you said.

I would love it if Eternals or whatever (assuming it won't be rushed) lands in August and Strange 2 in November. Again, so long as they're ahead and on track to make those dates without rushing.

I am thinking next year, Loki and Vision/Scarlet Witch both end up on Disney+. We've heard about them a lot, so I think both come next year. But that is a guess.

I mean its not like we havent heard anything about it there was the THR report back in December. Scott Derrickson Returning to Direct 'Doctor Strange' Sequel (Exclusive)

Seems like progress is also being made on the script, back in January it was reported Robert Cargill could be returning.

Doctor Strange 2: Writer C. Robert Cargill Reportedly Returning

the writer teased the script on twitter back in September 2018. It seems Derrickson and Cargill were working on it through out 2018.

cant help but wonder why they would move up Strange 2 if thats whats happened. Could they use it to introduce someone like Professor X?

Doubt it. But Derrickson did tweet a picture of Namor a while back. So Namor is likely.

So it was announced at cinema con that dark phoenix will be the last x-men film from fox, and that it will be the last time we see this current itteration of them. But there will be more deadpool movies but he will stay at fox.

Well, yeah.

Fox is now Disney. Deadpool isn’t staying with Fox. The only Fox that is technically staying around as we know it, is the racist “news” network called Fox News and their extended arm of media.

Deadpool will keep as an R rated meta superhero franchise that will definitely remark on being bought be Disney and the notion of a second X-franchise reboot.

I think Spider Man 3 with Tom Holland will release in 2021, there is no way Sony will let Marvel Studios and Disney wait more than 2 years for another Spider Man adventure in the MCU

Yes but Sony dates the spider-man movies not Disney .

Might want to tell that to alan horn. Fox 2000 is going after their next 2 films. But fox serchlight and that are staying and deadpool will stay with fox. From his own lips.

I’m completely indifferent as to whether or not New Mutants gets a theatrical release. The movie looks like a cheap wannabe horror movie. It won’t affect Marvel’s plans for the X-Men one way or another whatever format it lands be it in the theater or Hulu. It’s really inconsequential.

Is there a reason marvel have dropped to 2 movies next year? Disney streaming channel possibly?

I'm pretty sure we would have gotten GotG3 in 2020 if it weren't for James Gunn's temporary removal.

Edit: Just noticed Darkprime's post. What he said.

Looks like the original Cyclops wants to join the MCU..

Would you be fine if James Marsden who got killed off in the first part of Last Stand and got brought back in the last part of Days Of Future Past reprise his most famous role (second only to him briefly crossing over from Marvel to DC in order to play the super-memorable role of Lois Lane's thankless boyfriend in a generic love triangle) for the ever-expanding Marvel Cinematic Universe?

Even if he's doesn't play Scott again, who else can Mr. Marsden play in the MCU? I dunno.. Mr. Fantastic?

Yeah I don't see Ds2 being released next year. Wow more than 4 years since the 1st film!
