MCU: The Marvel Cinematic Universe Official Discussion - Part 5

Rogue and Mystique in Captain Marvel 2 while we're at it please.

Kevin's no fool, he knows there's money to be made by having mutants and the 4 on screen sooner than later. Iger is especially going to make sure that happens.
And Bobby/Iceman in Spider-Man 3. Omega Red in Black Widow. Sprinkle them all around the MCU

Storm in Black Panther would be nice, Kevin. :O

I think this would be a cool way to introduce a couple of them rather than a full team.

I finally got a chance to see Creed 2 last night, and I’m sold on Florian Munteanu being MCU Colossus.

He’d nail it.

He also knows that we have had loads of xmean the last 20 years and a break would probably make a reboot more successful. Marvel have no need at all to rush things. They are making massive profits and have loads of characters they can use. You may want those characters to be put in films, but that doesn't mean script writers or directors do.

I feel really sorry for Trank

He has nobody to nobody blame but himself. He had a great opportunity and threw it away. Now he needs to sort himself out and work his way back into peoples good graces. Do some smaller films and don't be an ********.

Yeah. If there's an organic reason the creative teams working on the sequels want to use some of these characters in the upcoming films, then more power to them. I know Coogler has said he's a big fan of the X-Men and that they helped get him into superheroes.

But if not, it won't be the end of the world.

On one hand, I blindly trust Feige because he made Captain America, Black Panther and Carol Danvers billion dollar properties. Hell he even got Ant Man to be a household name now too, so for his Phase 4, if he goes with his OG plan, it’s cool.

BUT on the other hand, what he said better be a fake out. Disney did not pay all that money just to have the X-Men and the Fantastic Four to sit on the shelf for 5 more years after all the dark magic they did to acquire Fox. The businessman in me says they won’t let that happen.

Eternals and all that stuff is cool, but Phase 4 has to be the Mutant Agenda. That’s way too much surefire money and expectations to keep on the shelf.

Your first paragraph is exactly why I think you’re wrong. Feige made all those more obscure properties into billion dollar franchises. It’s entirely possible, if not likely, that Black Widow, Shang Chi and Eternals could ALL hit a billion at the box office for different reasons. Those three are def happening cause of the people attached.

Yeah, MCU X-Men would prob clear a billion. And I’m eager for a good FF. Are either gonna make THAT much more than the other megahits to warrant messing up their plans?

Disney didn’t buy Fox just for the Fantastic Four and X-Men. Sure, they were a nice incentive but they are a fraction of it.

Take the above three new movies - now add finishing trilogies for Black Panther, Spider-Man, Doctor Strange, Ant-Man, Guardians and Captain Marvel. You know they all get full trilogies.

Let alone if Black Widow gets a sequel. Or if Feige has another Avengers movie (or two) planned within five years. Or if any of the original Avengers surprise stick around for another movie, such as Thor 4. Let alone any other MCU characters they want to do, such as Feige saying they want Kamala Khan once Cap Marvel is established. They just teed up Monica Rambeau.

How much of the five year plan is filled just by all that? What in there is realistically expendable?

All that being said, if we get Deadpool, X-Men and/or FF in the MCU as soon as an Endgame tease I’m totally good with it and will squeal with the other fanboys, I just see logic in Feige actually being real on this one.

You'd think, but the way some people I've seen on Reddit and other places reacting to the news....:funny:
It's not good news to a lot of people who were excited about the prospects of getting these characters back. It makes sense that they be disappointed..

I like how people who keep insisting that Marvel is will fast track the Mutants keep ignoring the reality that Marvel was doing more than fine without the Mutants and they’ve been able to turn more the lesser known characters like Captain Marvel and Black Panther into bigger box office properties with just their entire solo film than Fox ever was with their entire 19 year old franchise. So I always chuckle whenever someone says "once Marvel gets their hands on X-Men they'll give them special focus!".

Even Homecoming(a movie about an A-list hero) made didn’t make as much money as some of the movies with Marvel’s characters who were previously thought of to be B-list characters like Iron Man 3, Black Panther, and Captain Marvel. If Marvel can make movies with the characters they've always had access to then why the need to suddenly fast-track movies about characters you only got access to last month?

As I’ve said countless times before Feige isn’t in the same position with the FF and X-Men as he was with Spider-Man where he was forced to adjust his Phase 3 plans in order to fit him in the slate. Marvel has unlimited access to FF and X-Men so they can get to them whenever they wish. Marvel still needs Sony's permission in order to use Spider-Man so apples and oranges.

And Disney is definitely not going to get Feige to rush those properties. Iger and Horn trust Feige's judgement since y'know Feige has been making them more than enough money with the properties he had access to before the Fox deal.

Also, every time you hear Feige talk about what movies they are doing, it is always about having a story to tell. They want to tell interesting stories and the perceived popularity of the IPs does not factor in as much as many think it does. If they have a compelling story to tell about the FF or the X-men, then we may see them sooner, but right now from all appearances they have a number of stories about other characters that is going to take up the near future.

I think the next logical set of heroes that I'd want to see is the Fantastic Four honestly. I want to see the X-Men, but I appreciate how monumental of a task it'll be to integrate them, while FF fits like a glove. And FF would give us Galactus and Doom... their villains are nearly as important as the team itself. Also opens the door to Silver Surfer... and it all starts to flow from there. So, I'd love to see a FF movie in the next 5 years, with the building up of the mutant gene as the next big multi-Phase story.

I suspect they aren't going to go that way. I think the next big bad will be the Skrull honestly, and the Skull silent invasion.. but maybe not.

Yes Fantastic Four being first up just makes so much sense from a story point of view it fits with them wanting to go more cosmic as well.

Fantastic Four also need at least one good movie!

The X-Men at least have 4. They can wait.
