Sorry to hear that, mate.

So was I

sorry to hear that...I'll shut up now:doh:

No need to be shut up:yay:

.
Not to make light of your situation, but you should meet my aunt. This it the 3rd or 4th Christmas where we've all kind of quietly said it would be her last. She has COPD and a host of other smoking related illnesses. Just walking to the bathroom puts her out of commission for hours. Yet, every time you talk to her, she's always in good spirits. I don't know how she does it, but it's really inspiring.

No worries, I'm actually a pretty happy go lucky kind of guy.

I really dont let things get me dow.

And all the power to your aunt.

Back on topic...
To Hell with Larry DiTillio and Bob Forward for creating Beast Wars and changing my beloved G1 into that unnecessary series!

Was this a joke?

I remember when you first mentioned that...
It's good to see you around every new day.

another day another opportunity to learn something new..
from me lol.

actually it was a very strong series, probably better than G1 in many respects outside of being newer and more advanced.

it's actually on youtube, I'm not sure if it's going to be up forever or if this very post will be up forever but here we go

http://www.youtube.com/user/OptimalOptimus2

what a great channel, I may just give that G1 series a shot...but after beast wars (and beast machines) I have my reservations.

I'm pretty sure Hotwire was kidding.
I was, and I wasn't. I actually can't stand Beast Wars, and for many of the same reasons Decoy hates the Bay films. But I don't go on internet tirades about how the creators of that show killed Transformers for me. I'm fine with artists doing their own interpretations of an intellectual property. If they do something I don't like, I don't watch it.

I was a serious Transformers fan from 1984 - 2007. When the first movie came out... I lost almost all interest in the entire franchise. The 2nd movie came out and Optimus Prime was somewhat redeemed... but the bots were still second fiddlers to the humans with no real personalities other than cliche/stereotypical cannon fodder blah blah suck suck crappiness. I can't even form a decent sentence about their characters... they are just that 'meh'.

I'm still a Negatron. I predict an equal amount of suckage for this new movie.
Meh... the movies of Bay served their purpose: to be entertaining and have great action. But as far as story, acting etc goes, it never had any promising. It's a movie based on some toys lol.

Hmm... never heard that one before.

Its purpose was to sell toys and keep the brand profitable. Everything else is secondary.

ITT: People angry at an advertising idiot trying to make a movie that's one big advertisement for toys which is ruining childhood memories of a cartoon that was just one big advertisement for toys made by another group of advertising idiots.

I'm sure the movie will be your typical summer popcorn flick, injected with a healthy amount of CGI porn. I'm fine with it...

We got a frat boy's condescending version of Transformers. We need a geek-centric version like the good lord intended.

That pretty much sums it up. :csad:

I've thought about what it would take to get me to see TF3 in the theater after all the lame crap (punctuated with a few all-too-brief moments of coolness) that the Bayformers franchise has dumped on moviegoers so far.

I might consider it if Grimlock and/or the Dinobots are in it, albeit with the full expectation of Dinobot fart/poop/pee gags.

I dont know what you guys are looking for in a Transformers movie. Sure the second movie sucked I will give you that, but the first movie was pretty good in my book. Now I am not TF Diehard and I don't know a whole lot about the mythology but I did go back and watch some of the G1 stuff and played the War for cybertron game that recently came out.

I mean I know some of you have good childhood memories of TF and thats fine. But if you put your fanboyism aside the G1 storylines and dialouge and stuff is kinda crappy now. Some of it is down right silly and laughable.
How serious does a movie about robots that can change in to cars, tanks, planes have to be?

For god's sake the cartoon, comics came about from TOYS!!!!!!! A super dark grim, rated R Transformers movie would be ******ed. Sure some of the humor in TF2 was stupid and Bay went about it all wrong, these movies need some form of humor.

Now as as for the teaser for TF3 it looks awesome! And for you Bay haters it seems to have a much darker more serious tone. Happy now??

It may not be the exact same, but Bays transformers are indeed silly like the original cartoon show but in a different manner.

I dont think anyone really thinks that the exact general mood of the original cartoon should be in the series at all, but the source material of the past 25 years is important to some degree and Bay just pisses all over it. The movie could be a serious action movie about an alien invasion that if given the right director could be an absolute epic. You dont need two dogs humping on screen to bring mass audiences in. What we have so far is a teen comedy that features transforming cars. I dont have much expectations for this new one and I really hope it is the last one for bay because transformers as a movie could be better than what we have seen so far. We'll see

very true
what you do need is auto bots and decepticons fighting on earth

all boxes checked.

Who the hell is asking for an R-rated Transformers flick?

Though Bay would probably go for that.

Best wars was decent but it really hit its stride when it revealed that it was connected to G1 all along. Beast machines was solid as well, the concept of runnign the streets of a dead cybertron under megatrons control was kind of cool but the ending was just the worst possible way you could end that series. Ill give those series lots of credit in being able to create suspense and mystery in the main plot.

Where'd this grim and gritty **** come from? I haven't heard anyone ask for that. In fact, Bay's movies are already too dark. The "lightness" comes from the wrong place - juvenile, embarrassing attempts at comic relief.

They're dark. They're grimy, oily, and mean-spirited; I wouldn't want my kid watching this crap.

The show and the animated film had the right tone - silly and fun because of its inherent nature (cars that turn into robots!), not because of scatological humor. Earnest, not ironic.

I agree some of bays attempts at humor in these films sucked mainly the dogs humping, SAMs mom high, devastors balls, that dudes ass in a thong, and the sterotypical twins. The rest of the humor was okay I quess.

But since 2007 on these forms all I have heard from people is that the movies aren't serious enough. Some people have be crying for dark grim, gritty transformers movies. Similar in tone to the Dark Knight or something. And I am like really? Others have a un dying hatred for Bay and will always hate these movies no matter what.

Either way is your choice. Personally, I enjoy the movies for what they are mindless entertainment. If I want see a Oscar worthy film I will watch The Fighter or something like that. Though I am not a huge fan of Transformers 2.

I have respect for the source material and like I said I am not knocking you guys. Transformers is a childhood memory for some and it means a lot. But
coming from a different stand point the premise of alien robots that turn into
cars, planes, and tanks etc can only be taken so serious.

Also by watching the teaser trailer this movie dose indeed seem to have a more serious tone than the previous films. From the clips in dose seem to be an invasion of earth by the decpticons. So who knows. This third and final film in the Bay TF trilogy could correct the mistakes of the second film.

The twins and the mom being high were the ones I despised the most...

And considering how much screentime the twins had in ROTF well...it wouldn't take a rocket scientist to figure out how much I "enjoy" watching this film.

People need to relax.

I've enjoyed the movies and I don't care how many years other people have been watching. Like it's theirs to claim.

Get over it.
