Dark of the Moon Michael Bay has killed Transformers for me

problem with that logic is that iron hide is a changeling colourless alien with nothing but interpretation to fuel his design. Oh and he's a car.

Heimdall is, for one, known as the "white god" and for seconds based on Norwegian mythology. An area that to this day may not have even seen a black person :woot:
the fact of the matter is this, you can't make an african movie based on african mythology and folklore and cast white people in it. I mean sure you can we are a progressive society but rest assured that it is a liberty that is in conflict with source material. Being black myself I find it all kinda silly but making Heimdall black is nothing like making Ironhide black.
But Ironhide not only changed color but he lost his southern accent. That shouldn't be a big deal but neither should skin color. Asgardians are supposed to be aliens worshipped as gods. Why would they need white skin?

I don't think Africans would boycott a movie an African myth movie because one character had white skin. Who cares?

I also doubt asgauadians will fart piss and hump but you know what, they aren't based on a hasbro toyline that will make the majority of its money from an audience that might appreciate that.
So your just going to pretend hundreds of Transformer comics don't exist?:whatever:

If Transformers were always just toys there would be no mythology. But there is and lots of it.

Both Thor and Transformers have plenty of history from comic book stories.

iconic design? haven't there been a dozen interpretations these characters? Ironhide is hardly superman or thor even..

the the important stuff is still present, hardly replaced.
Yeah Megatron looks like tangled trash and Starscream is a giant chicken with two line of dialogue. What a perfect adaptation of G1.

for Thor they are being depicted as a race of superhumans not aliens or gods

Asgardians are supposed to be aliens worshipped as gods.

Not "Aliens" in the traditional sense.

Why would they need white skin?
Well they were worshiped by a white people.

Its not hard to assume that the worshipers would think their gods are also white.

May I ask how you came to that conclusion?

It's an interpretation based on G1 just like every interpretation is based on G1. But cartoons need new interpretations because there's already a G1 cartoon series but there's never been a live action movie that is purely that is G1.

It's like doing a new interpretation of LOTR or Harry Potter as films when the original books were never properly adapted.

Fans are always going to want to see a genuine G1 movie not just a cheap knock off. I don't blame them. There's alot of cool elements to the G1 universe that have not been explored.
Just curious, what are your thoughts on Beast Wars? To me, that was just what you are saying the movies have been.

That's funny. Do you know how many black christians have a picture of a white Jesus in their house or church?

and people who have multiple gods should care even less if their gods all look the same as them.

every interview they did to explain Afro-Heimdall(Trademarked by the Roach Corporation)

we make our gods in our image....the greeks saw their gods as greek, the native americans saw their gods as native american, the norse saw their gods as norse....just like the anglo saxon religions saw a man born in the middle east to be caucasian

yeah how stupid of me to trust what the film makers say as their reason for Afro-Heimdall:woot:

I'm not trying to say your stupid, but trusting film makers to tell you everything before the film is released isint logical.

Most times they answer vaguely, and some times out right give false answers.

Ironically enough, I would be inclined to place this so called conservatism party with G1 fanboys (and I'm kinda serious about that)

Not so much like the arguments of asian minorities during the air bender controversy artistic liberties when applied to adaptation can't please everyone I suppose.

Asgardians are not simply Marvels version of the "New Gods" of DC fame. New Genesis is an alien planet with people that call themselves gods and don't exist anywhere but in the comicbook fiction. Marvel based their Asgard on the Norse Myth.

to answer your question, no one should care, but fan boys always find a way.

I'm not going to pretend anything, batman has fun books and he has serious books. The producers are free to choose the best possible incarnation in order to maximize their revenue and their inclined too because it's their money. For us to say it's right or wrong that they went with the more silly/serious tone of say beast wars and the 80's cartoon than say the simply serious tone of the comics is self centered.

Iron man(especially looking at the current run of comics) should be handled with absolutely no humor, but whose to say the more light hearted approach is WRONG. There have been comics with a light hearted Iron Man and the producers went that route.

I personally think Iron Man should have had the tone of that movie the Aviator, but I'm not going to ram my wanted views down anyone's throat.

No such thing as a perfect adaptation, the very word adaptation doesn't allow it.
Megatron looks like a transformer and any fool can see that, which works in this context. Starscream was designed by technical artists far better than myself to function as an F22 jet opened up and walking around and not some designed for animation block head.

He only has two lines?

That sucks I never realized that when it comes to cinema, the best villians are proportional to the amount of lines they speak.
Let alone heavys.

while Marvel comics treats the Norse gods as the gods...the movie universe treats them like the New Gods...from what I have gleaned from interviews

I watched ROTF yet agin, and simply hate the fact that TF's come from hatchlings...WTF?!

Michael Bay didnt direct Beast Wars which really is the crux of the matter.
The parallel was not between the director of Beast Wars and Michael Bay, but rather the adaptation of G1 in both cases.

If anyone but Michael Bay directed these movies with the same amount of changes there would not be nearly as much venom aimed at this movie as it is
