The Amazing Spider-Man Moviehole scoops details on both scripts...

They don't want Spider-Man to be Batman. Why would they do that? Spider-Man is massively popular because he is Spider-Man, not a Batman rip off.

What that means is; No cheesy ****ing dance numbers. No cheesy ****ing melodrama. Taking the character seriously and not making him a parody of himself like SM3 did.

Why would they want Vulturess? Why would they want SM3? Let´s not pretend Sony always knows what they´re doing.

how do you know that is what they mean by taking out some humor it is all speculation at this point they could very well make him not funny what so ever

What did I say about "more?" All I said is they still will make it a big part of the movies, and you can bet your house they will.

By them having a baby you can bet your ass it would be "more". Guaranteed.

That is why I'm glad SM4 is dead.

Cutting out humor and more TDK means they want him to be Batman. You show me some of SM3's goofiness, and I'll show you SM1 and SM2, where the balance was done right. By the guy they just fired.

Sony saw the $$$ Batman made, and they want Spidey to top it by having him become Batman. This is stupid.

Yea... and take away one of THE biggest reasons why Spidey is popular in the first place. That makes great business ($$$) sense...

Batman was barely in The Dark Knight and it was still a great movie.

as a writer you have to weight up which angle you are going to approach a movie.
do you make a critical path of the hero and then pick the villians to work around that critical path whilst still challenging the hero?

or you focus on the villian, developing the villian as best you can and work the hero around the villian?

I think spidey 3 dropped the ball because there was far too much focus on the hero, the villians are an absolute after thought, they come off 1 note and flat. in SM1 and SM2 sam gets the balance about right.

take the 'kraven's last hunt' story line everyone who has read this knows kraven's role and the role of vermin (replace with lizard) but what is spidey's role? what is mj role? would tobey and dunst be willing to sit out half the movie which the focus is on the villian?

that's why I wouldn't ever have more than one villian and if there were a secondary villian he would be throwaway in the opening credits. really difficult to develope multipul characters.

my big fear is sony with nothing standing in their way will now demand multiple villians which will ultimately mean NO ONE get developed.

But nobody said they wanted it, much less me. Does the SM4 script sound like the crap as it was? Absolutely. Does this reboot sound that much better? I´m not so sure yet.

Not at all.

They won't cut out the humour completely. Why? Because the humour IS ONE OF THE BIGGEST REASONS WHY SPIDER-MAN IS ONE OF THE MOST POPULAR HEROES...EVER!

It doesn't make business sense.

And there you go. SM4 ABSOLUTELY sounded like crap.

The reboot? We don't know yet. That's good enough for me.

the cheese was quite tasteful in SM2.
the raindrops montage was fantastic, especially when they hold the last frame of pete smilling after conners tell him to 'keep up the good work'

in SM3 it was over the top, WAY over the top

'Spider-Man' Film Team Is Squashed
But neither the studio nor Raimi could agree on the ultimate direction of the script, which was centered on the legendary comic book character's becoming reinspired and falling in love with a new girl, said people close to the situation.
What?

Cause you saw Spider-Man 4 and know that for a fact not from a plot synopsis you you saw online.

Errr... what reason do you think Raimi wanted to introduce a baby to Pete and MJs relationship?

Because he wanted more focus put on the drama. It was gonna abuse the melodrama just like SM3 did.

Sony knows people will go see Spider-Man no matter what. Look at what FOX did to Deadpool. Never put it past a studio to radically change characters.

Sony wants a yes man to remake Batman with Spidey's name on it. Let them. I predict a cookie cutter next Spider-Man film.

That wasn't a Deadpool movie. That was a Wolverine movie.

SM4 was guaranteed to be crap. The reboot? All we can do is guess. And for me, that's good enough.

TMNT 1990 was almost consistent with its grittyness and real world feel. Spider-Man 1, at best, was not consistent with alotta cheese and feeling of being waterdown and then spurts of seriousness or grittyness.

Consistency with genuineness.

The movie I recall was about as 'gritty' as the 1st Spider-man, if even that. Didn't it have cheeseball, ie unrealistic, crooks/muggers?
Saying it was more of consistent with the characters from the books is a different argument to saying it should have more of that 'real world' feel. It was no more 'real world' than the 1st Spider-man.
About the only superhero movies I could say with absolute certainty had a more real world feel are the first two X-Men and TDK, ie people's reactions to events feel like they would in a real life situation. I'm sure tv newscrews cops and muggers would have a very different reaction to big mutated Turtles than what you got in that movie.
Because let's not forget what the term 'gritty' means, it means 'real world', not darkly lit dirty streets.

Who the hell came up with the idea of Peter and MJ having a freakin' BABY? Seriously, I think that's worst than Sandman being Uncle Ben's killer. Both horrible concepts, but damn, who wants to see a superhero web-slinging around buying pampers?

This Spider-Man production team scares the hell out of me. I hope the new creative team is a hell of a lot better, and actually wants to see the comic books that made Spider-Man great on film.

Imagine that sex scene?

MJ "did you where a condom Peter"

Peter "oh crap, I think i'm stuck?"

Wife and Baby= Drama?? not the happy ending for this story?

Agreed. I think it was Raimi's way of giving them a happy ending. Not adding a baby in there for Peter to be EMO about all film.

But, fans overreact to news without knowing the full story.

Yea you'd get a happy ending.

But you'd also get relationship struggle ******** like "Oh Pete can we afford this to raise a baby! Is it the right thing to do if you are a crime fighter putting your life on the line every day!"

And the inevitable "Maybe I should quit being Spider-Man? AGAIN!"

Yea... no thanks.

Does the Clone ****storm... oops I mean Saga ring any bells?
