The Amazing Spider-Man Moviehole scoops details on both scripts...

Black Cat is a Catwoman rip off. Sexy atheltic cat burglar, switches between goodie and baddie, and has a romantic interest in the hero.

Can't stand Black Cat myself. Awful character.

actually.. according to black cat's history when compared to catwomans... the love interest with the hero schtick actually started with black cat... (little known fact). Only thing that could ever be considered a "copy" is just the fact she's a "cat woman"... It was catwoman who later adopted a black costume and fell in love with the hero.. then became a hero

That's false info you've been given there. Black Cat came about in the 70's, right? I've got Catwoman stories from the 60's where she's romantically involved with Batman.

It's even in the Adam West Batman show, too. Damn, Julie Newmar was sexy in that role.

Moviehole has details on both scripts.

Basically for SM4:
- Spider-man 4 DID feature Peter and Mary-Jane with a baby.
- Vulturess was added in the script, at the request of the studio.
- Vulturess was a retooled version of Black Cat.
- Vulture was the editor of the Daily Bugle.
- Script was apparently pure crap.
- Raimi had lost hope in the project and walked.
- The studio also wanted to add a third villain.
- Anne Hathaway was gone from the project late last year (my guess is when Sony turned the Black Cat into the Vulturess).

For the reboot:
- The script is much better than the script for Spider-man 4.
- The script IS complete, and was finished at the same time as SM4, allowing the studio to compare the two.
- The script was commissioned as a contingency plan, should Raimi walk.
- Unfortunately, they describe the script as "more Dark Knight than Spider-man".
- The new film is the first part in a new trilogy.
- The aim of the script is to cut the "fluff" - which they speculate means no humour and a serious tone.

That sounds HORRIBLE

i want them to get James Cameron on this. I liked his script but for those who have read it instead of this Carl Strand guy they should put Kingpin in his place (if they buy the rights) and Electro should be his right hand man but no Carl Strand it should be Max Dillon. and Max should go thru the accident that made him Electro like in the comics.

she was also running around in a skirt and wearing purple at the time.... hell Julie Newmar i think may have been the first interpretation of catwoman in a cat suit anyway... felicia also wasn't a sociopath who tries to even take on a cat like personality...

I mean if Batman's line here doesn't convey love, IDK what does...

'QUIET OR PAPA SPANK'

That comic book panel, along with the one about the Joker's *****, are hands down the funniest panels from the golden age

"I don't like it, and I think it stinks!" From Spider-Man Movie. Couldn't have been more prophetic.

I'm still skeptical on that whole Sony wanting Black Cat as the Vulturess thing because it just doesn't make sense.

Sony wanted Black Cat, Raimi didn't, so what you're is Sony just up and changed their minds one day and let Black Cat be changed to the Vultress. Uh yea, that doesn't really make sense.

I think something happened in the script and Raimi and the writing staff kept Felicia Hardy in the script to appease Sony but changed her to the Vulturess to fit in with his storyline of the Vulture and Sony got wind and put a kisbosh on the whole production.

Yea it does, because Black Cat is a ****** Catwoman rip off and general audiences would be like "Hold on... I thought she was a Batman character?"

But saying that the idea of Vultress is ridiculous too.

Sony is a bunch of *****es that have the worse people to come up with ideas for the movies i mean i can imagine the meetings...

"Well I don't like Black Cat let's completely throw that out the window"

"Hey what about instead of Black Cat we make up a character named Vulturess"

"Yeah great idea that should be a blockbuster hit right there"

what a bunch of stupid f*%@'s

well maybe to the general audience who doesn't know any better they could confuse the 2 but to the Spidey fans i'm sure we would love to have seen Felecia Hardy/Black Cat plus if they were gonna go without the symbiote Spidey would need the help. if more villains that are more powerful were to come into play like Electro or multiple villains. i honestly wished they held off on a Daredevil movie until the Spidey flicks then do a Daredevil spin-off. hopefully with the new series they can buy the rights to Daredevil and get a better actor than Ben A$$lick and a white Kingpin this time.

Daredevil Directors Cut was awesome.

And I honestly hate Black Cat. She is literally a direct rip off of Catwoman. She has the same personality, the same purpose. Just a ****** character IMO.

Oh for Christ's sake....

I've seen you say some ridiculous things over the years...but this tops it...
So, you're telling me that TDK didn't have a somewhat negative impact on other comic book films? What studios fails to realize is that not every hero is like Batman.

Also, with all due respect, and no offense to you at all, but I can never seem to have a decent conversation with you.

I don't think so. What comic book movies have come out since it's release back in 2008 that have been affected by it?

The one thing I hope TDK did show is that a comic book movie can be hard hitting, and doesn't have to pander to kids all the time in order to be good or successful.

TDK didn't have a negative impact. It had a positive one.

It showed that super hero movies don't HAVE to be light hearted and formulaic/cliche.

I mean when was the last time the damsel in distress died in a movie? I think that's a good thing. Happy endings are too common and predictable.

BUT it doesn't mean super hero movies or super heroes themselves have to be dark vigilante's. Studio's know this, general audiences know this.

They will not turn Spidey into a dark vigilante. Because Spidey has already proved that you don't have to be a dark vigilante, he is STILL a flag ship character. He is STILL a major money making character. Nothing has changed.

:o you obviously haven't read much of felicia hardy over the years.... the fact she went "good girl" decades before catwoman is also another proof that she has a different personality. hell... if anything the current catwoman is more of a rip off of black cat.

TDK didn't ruin subsequent comic book films. It set another bar on how to use a character correctly within their element.

However, it is the studio's fault and the mind set of an omnipresent "movie formula" that will POTENTIALLY ruin superhero flicks made after TDK

Catwoman was the first sexy, athletic cat burglar who tries to seduce the hero.
