NBC's HEROES (Fall 2006) Discussion Thread

HEROES ...Inside scoop (Taken from Wizard #175, May 2006)

The genesis of NBC’s original series “HEROES” can be traced back to one weekend in the life of creator Tim Kring (“Crossing Jordan”).

“I saw Charlie Kaufman’s “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind” and “The Incredibles” on two separate days. And this is the love child of those two ideas.,” explained the writer-producer. True to its inspirations, “HEROES” details the real-life complications that arise when legions of people worldwide wake up one morning with superpowers, but don’t expect anyone to be forming into Justice Leagues right off the bat.

“They wake up and discover they have these abilities, but they’re really babies. You know a baby can go ‘Ah,’ but there’s a long way from going ‘Ah’ to talking. So when somebody wakes up and senses that their foot hovered over the floor for a nano-second before it touched the ground, does it mean they know how to fly?” offered Kring.

Ambitious production from start to finish, “HEROES” will involve an ensemble cast living across the continents and involve a large amount of special-effects wizardy, which Kring promises will be “as good-looking as a show can be. This is a big prime-time network thing. We’re spending that kind of money on it.”

What do you all think will happen within the first 5 to 10 episodes in the show? What type of stories, mysteries action do you think will happen? How will it start? Will they know each other at the begining or will it show them getting together?

Heroes Gains Alias/Lost Producer!

April 21, 2006

Emmy-winning "Alias" and "Lost" producer Jesse Alexander has signed a two-year overall deal with NBC Universal Television Studio, reports Variety.

Coming off a five-year stint on the J.J. Abrams' ABC/Touchstone TV dramas, Alexander was looking for his next project by reading pilot scripts when he came across Tim Kring's teleplay for the two-hour NBC pilot Heroes, about a group of seemingly everyday people who discover they have superpowers.

"The script was fantastic," Alexander said. "I liked Tim's vision of the world he created, and I liked the writing."

If Heroes goes to series, Alexander would serve as co-executive producer.

this show sounds interesting

the little kid is hilarious on My Wife Abd Kids but I don't know how good his acting is

That little kid sucks. One of the many child actors that cant act.

THIS JUST IN:

NBC 2006 - 07 Primetime Schedule
HEROES at 9-10 p.m. Eastern Time on Monday Nights.

Here is the full description:
The epic drama "HEROES" chronicles the lives of ordinary people who discover they possess extraordinary abilities. As a total eclipse casts it shadow across the globe, viewers follow a genetics professor (Sendhil Ramamurthy, "Blind Guy Driving") in India whose father's disappearance leads him to uncover a secret theory -- there are people with super powers living among us.

A young dreamer (Milo Ventimiglia, "The Bedford Diaries") tries to convince his politician brother (Adrian Pasdar, "Judging Amy") that he can fly.

A high school cheerleader (Hayden Panettiere, "Ice Princess") learns that she is totally indestructible.

A Las Vegas stripper (Ali Larter, "Final Destination"), struggling to make ends meet to support her young son (Noah Gray-Cabey, "My Wife & Kids"), uncovers that her mirror image has a secret.

A prison inmate (Leonard Roberts, "Buffy the Vampire Slayer") mysteriously finds himself waking up outside of his cell.

A gifted artist (Santiago Cabrera, "Empire"), whose drug addiction is destroying his life and the relationship with his girlfriend (Tawny Cypress, "Third Watch"), can paint the future.

A down-on-his-luck beat cop (Greg Grunberg, "Alias") can hear people's thoughts, including the secrets of a captured terrorist.

In Japan, a young man (Masi Oka, "Scrubs") develops a way to stop time through sheer will power.

Their ultimate destiny is nothing less than saving the world. "HEROES" is executive produced by creator/writer Tim Kring ("Crossing Jordan), Dennis Hammer ("Crossing Jordan") and David Semel ("House"), who also directed the pilot. The drama is from NBC Universal Television Studio.

It still sounds like an interesting show.

I will at least watch the pilot to see how it is.

I was so looking forward to seeing this show, that is until i saw this annoying little bastards face(Noah Gray-Cabey). This kid sends shivers down my spine and I can't stomach him. He was horrible in the Damon Wayans show My Wife and Kids.

Yeah. I hope he isn't on too much. He is REALLY bad at acting from what I have seen of him on My Wife and Kids. Reallllly bad.

Well, this should be interesting. Will we be seeing any bad freaks as well?

hopefully they won't be going the whole heroes vs. villains route for a while... if not ever.

They might wait for the last part of the first season and have the second season be a build up to reveal a "super villain" with small super feaks working as his minions.

there are enough bad people without powers they won't need to go that route till season 5 or something

sounds interesting but it's on during wrestling, hence chances are i will never watch it. OH YEAH!!

Someone needs to get TiVo. Or at the very least, a vcr.

I wonder if the prisoner will maybe play a baddie or come off as bad for awhile? The description of the antaganist sounds a little odd "horned rimmmed glasses"?

It sounds like an interesting show. I agree that kid is annoying.

Reminds me of 'Rising Stars' for some reason.

Looks interesting though.

I wonder if the Pilot will be online soon. I remember the Birds of Prey Pilot was online almost 4 months before it ever aired. Here's hoping!

I'd say The 4400 feels more like Rising Stars...

This has a lot of potential. Sounds good so far. Reminds me of Charmed (with Shannen Doherty, not the last few years. Where it was very much a drama about regular people living their lives and they have special powers. Now Charmed is horrible but this sounds decent. I'll tune in. Fairly decent cast as well.

going to have to wait for the dvd box set cause I work on mondays :(
