Transformers Negatron: Discussion Thread for those that hate the way this movie is heading

im annoyed the the changes to the appearances ie primes flames piantjob. HE IS RED. and what happen to bumblebee just coz americans dnt make vw bugs means they cant be used? Where's soundwave he's megatrons number 1, his right hand robot. i cant wait to see the movie but there 2 many little changes that could just ruin it.:trans:

If you think that those are the worst deviations, better don't watch the movie and maintain the illusion that it might be good.

Actually VW didnt want them to use the beetle because they didnt want their car depicted as a war machine. Soundwave isnt in the movie because they could come up with a way to incorporate him in to the film without it being "cheesy." also in G1 soundwave was a stereo and we all know that stereos are "blocky"

What was Mini Cooper's excuse? Or how about Pontiac Solstice excuse. Oh wait... a Solstice IS in the movie (Jazz)....
Did they have to make Bumblebee a Camaro? A Camaro? Come on. Really?

"Frenzy" is a stereo in the movie. Judging from the pictures he is anything but blocky. Wirey would be a better word to describe him.

As for Soundwave being cheesy.... I think Fast and the Furious dumb car chases are "cheesy." A mass shifting robot wouldn't add much diary product to the mix. Plus, it's Michael Bay: The King of Cheese.

wasnt there a paintjob on the old (60's?) camaros called the bumblebee?

i also think its funny how this thread is 12 pages long and the positive one is only 3...:oldrazz:

just thought i'd point that out, lol

im not to keen on BB's design, there are dozens of other vehicles that they could have used to represent BB. I think a dodge neon would have maybe worked, or maybe a hatchback focus. But oh well, its too late now

Come on now, man. How about this:

That screams Bumblebee (even more in other angles). Nice 4-cylinder compact. Not overpowered corny cliched hot-rod as the "star." (BTW, that's Jazz up there... who WAS an hyper-fast Porshe race car).

What they did is Bizarro.

I don't really mind BB so much. At least his robot mode is cool. I'd rather have a decent robot mode than alt-mode. Case in point? Starscream...ugh. Reaaally cool alt-mode, reeeeaaaaallllly crappy robot mode.

They all kind of look crappy to me right now, but l'll see what the second trailer has to offer. When is that coming out anyway?

I'd like to know where you got that info, because all I've ever heard, and this goes all the way back to Herbie, is VW never lets anyone use the VW logo anywhere in a movie. They can use the cars, but can't advertise the cars as being VW. I guess that goes with VW not wanting their cars to be linked to any certain film theme, but they don't ban their cars from movies.

Indeed no manufacturer can "ban" a car from a movie. It's called Freedom of Speech. All they can "ban" is the use of their logo.

However, they can ban the likeness of their vehicles in toys because toys and models (the US Supreme Court says) aren't protected under freedom of speech.

That doesn't mean they can't use a VW Beetle in the movie and have it look slightly different in the toy. In fact, Hasbro has been doing it for years.

So in other words, Bay had no REAL reason not to make BB a VW other than for his own personal taste with the Camaro..? Typical.

Bumblebee should've been a yellow mini cooper. That would've been pretty cool.

I wouldn't go that far. Hasbro wanting to market toys I'm sure was a huge factor. But, yeah, he could have gone with a VW if it wasn't for his "personal deal" with GM (and, yes, it was a 'deal').

It's all about $$$. Not faithfulness. So Bumblebee has to be badass and kickass (which he NEVER was... cept maybe when he became Goldbug).

holy s**t it even resembles his face in battle mode.

They do if it's going to be used as a weapon of mass destruction that can potentially murderl people giving VW a bad name.

No they can't. Not in the USA. They can only keep their actual logo from being in the film. If they sued and claimed that the "look" of the Beetle was in itself trademarked (which it is), they'd still lose on artistic license and freedom of expression grounds. Even Michael Bay's movies are considered art.

Toys and models are a different matter as they're not considered artistic expressions.

Im torn when it comes to this movie!

im no transformers buff... but i did grow up with all original the cartoons and toys...

The way i see it is... im finally going to get a live action transformers movie... amazing.. something ive been waiting 20years for...

somethings i like -

1. The action is going to be awesome... there is absolutly NO doubt in my mind about that....

2. I like the human side of the story, so long as its not over played, i mean.. even if the premise of nerd gets stupidly hot girl is cheesy, this is a kids film and it always will be.

3. SOME of the autobots look great... Prime is looking good even with the new ("oh lets put flames on him coz there cool at the minute) paint job. I understand why alot have changes have been made to the original designs.. .in order to try and make a completely fictional situation as realistic as possible... although I personally would have hoped for "blockier" designs

However... even as just a fan (and not some transformer addict :wow: ) certain things ive read/heard/seen so far are annoying me.

1). The origin story. im mean... the Ark crashing story line is perfect.. WHY change it? DUMB

2. the all spark? nice idea BUT i feel the search for energy story line would have worked much better (possibly include the all spark as a subplot)

3. the decepticons on the whole look *****... i mean starscream? how the hell can anyone take that thing seriously as a ruthless and back stabbing character when it looks like a mutant penguin.

4. I dont liek the idea of humans being able to damage the transforms so easily.... its a battle between 2 robot factions... the humans should try in vain to prtect them selves but in the end HAVE to depend on the autobots for their survival.

5. the jazz bumblebee height thing... it may seem inconsiquential to most movie goers... but the whole point of bumble be was that he was the smallest autobot.... thats IS bumblebee... just as much as Jazz was the coolest and Prime was the leader....

Anyway... im new around here....
and thats just my opinion!

This is a complaint from the script

If they get affected and incapacitated by cold or heat so much, how in the world did they travel through space to get here. Its kinda chilly in space... It's quite warm on atmospheric entry...

:cmad:

I think someone awhile back tried to explain it that it's not that they're susceptible to extreme heat or extreme cold... it's that they're susceptible to fast drastic changes between the two. It's a metallurgy thing... if you cool some metal down too fast it becomes brittle. .. ... .. or something like that.

I guess it makes sense. But, it still takes away from the classic imperviousness of The Transformers and human helplessness of the original story. Godzilla 98 made the same stupid mistake.

Can I marry you?

Everything you said is exactly my view. Folks here think I'm a TF-uber-fan. I'm not. I never watched past the 86 movie. I just think the original story was fantastic and had so much potential. They've literally dumbed it down MORE than a cartoon (in terms of depth and relevance).... which is hard to believe.

I'm not that "torn" like you in what to expect tho.... because, frankly, I've thought Michael Bay is the worst Hollywood has to offer for a long long time even before I heard they were making a Transformers movie. I know exactly what to expect in this movie..... (although I'm hoping to be surprised).

I thought Tad was CFlash's alter ego....?
