New Mutants New Mutants News and Discussion - Part 2

Well I guess if you are willing for the 1 2 punch that are Dark Phoenix/ The New Mutants with bad critical reception and mediocre box office performance then release The New Mutants in theaters. But I don't want The New Mutants to further taint the legacy of the franchise and have the first adaptation of the New Mutants, be received so badly. Disney has the power to pull a Corman FF to this by sending it straight to DVD/streaming or completely shelve it. Also at this point, how much profit will Dark PhoeniX get anyway? If that does really poorly financially then The New Mutants would be the same case as well.

As for X3, that will remain the original bad X-Men movie and box office peak (in North America) of the franchise... not eXactly easy to forget for the rest of the people that saw the thing in theaters.

Whether it's stupid to release in cinemas, it's certainly dumb to spend money on reshoots - especially if Kinberg is the one doing them as people have reported.
Agreed on this. They're only digging themselves deeper. It's pointless to plan reshoots for a one-and-done film with no chance of a sequel. Their best bet would have been to just stick with the August release date but there's no way that this would make more money than Dark Phoenix and look at what's happening with that.

Simon Kinberg will shooting his new movie in July.
Anya Taylor-Joy will shooting the queen's gambit(netflix) in august.

reshoots will be in December. Kinberg will film half the movie in just 2 weeks, Fox trusts him and he will deliver a better final movie.

Back in January, CBS All Access announced it would be moving forward with a 10-episode limited series based on Stephen King‘s magnum opus The Stand, which hails from writers Josh Boone (The Fault in Our Stars) and Ben Cavell (SEAL Team), as well as CBS Television Studios. Boone is directing the series, which is gearing up to start pre-production, and that means casting is underway.
Up-and-coming actor Henry Zaga (The New Mutants) is all but set to play Nick Andros, a young, deaf-mute grifter who wears an eye patch for most of King’s book. Rob Lowe played the character in the miniseries.

EXCLUSIVE: New Mutants reshoots are set to begin in November.
We just recently talked with someone and got a tip of when the 4-week reshoot might happen:

New Mutants ‪reshoots are set to begin on November 20 and wrap on December 14 in Boston, Massachusetts (still no official word on pre-production/cleaning Medfield Hospital).

Additional photography might happen in January due to actors schedules.

I’m actually about skeptical of that source. Not saying it can’t be true but I’m more willing to trust even a hit-or-miss scoop site like Latino Review than some tumblr account.

lol, no way they do reshoots in December and the movie gets released in April.
Another delay coming.
and yeah, spending even more money to release the movie 3 years later..... they just want to lose more money it seems.

Season four of Stranger Things is supposed to be shooting this winter and it’s usually a 7-8 month shoot. That would conflict with Charlie’s schedule.

We are reaching a point that when/if the reshoots happen the disparaty of the actors having aged 3 years between scenes will be as hilarious as Cavill upper lip in JL> And i mean hilariously bad.

Just burn this movie. Its very clear it didn't work and it will only damage an already bleeding brand even more. Do we need ANOTHER critically panned X-film bombing?

Production wrapped in Fall of 2017 so if reshoots happen it won't be three years, it will be two.

However, it's going to be worse than Justice League because the actors in this movie are at a very young age where it's far easier to spot physical differences between productions. If it was apparent with Affleck and Cavill it will be even more so here. Two years is on its own a very large gap between filming. The fact that we're talking about young adult actors makes an already bad situation worse.

What in the world is happening with this film?

All social media account pages (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Fox Website) say this film is coming out August 2nd.

The only page it shows the new April 3rd, 2020 date is on Walt Disney Studio's website.

This is considered a Fox film but is Disney/Marvel taking over this production?

Will something be said about it at Comic-Con this weekend? It's a weird situation. But hopefully someone asks someone something.

It's a Fox production but Fox is a subsidiary of Disney. There hasn't been any indication that Marvel Studios has any involvement. Of course, there hasn't been any indication that anyone has had any involvement with this since the merger.
