Next Assassin's Creed Game Reportedly Set During The Viking Age

I hope there's a follow up right away in 2021. If the speculation regarding China/Mongolia is correct... it wouldn't surprise me. They have referenced Genghis Khan and the Assassin that killed him in AC universe so many times in the past, so this might be the time for it.

That would interest me and could have quite a different feel.

I just want more cities or people living ina big kingdom/village. Rather than majority of the map being trees and untouched/undeveloped land. Kinda like Revelations/Unity, ancient times but very populated and busy but I want like 4 times larger than those locations.

With Cyberpunk getting delayed again, which has prompted me to cancel my preorder and wait until next year (or whenever the next-gen upgrade/versions get released), AC Valhalla will be my major 3rd party launch title for the PS5.

Edit: Found it. The bastards only showed the expensive versions when I selected the game from the store home front.

I played this a bit upto Aivor's home with his sister. I don't think I'm going to enjoy this more than Odyssey? Surprisingly from the map, there's a lot to eXplore in Norway which shouldn't be surprising given how large the last two games are. I also unexpectedly did my first raid which was kinda meh tbh. The graphics look pretty good, it looks quite smooth in hdr settings but nothing has wowed me yet and I haven't seen Layla/the title card yet. I'm also a bit miXed with the hud, I thought it looked great in YouTube but for some reason I'm not digging anything I've seen so far in my tv. I also have to finish Watch Dogs Legion first before I fully prioritize playing this.

I didn't follow this AC game as closely as I did Odyssey so I was very surprised when I learned this game doesn't have RNG loot. All the weapons and gear you get are unique and staged. They can't be broken down or sold. Same with armor. This hit me like a ton of bricks because I've already played 8 hours worth, and it felt different, almost off. Now I know why.

Makes combat and completing missions slightly less rewarding.

I also don't like that you regenerate again, kinda like Unity. I was killed like four times in the start. Also I don't like l3 for running and r3 for eagle vision. Idk if its just my controller but I have to press down r3 for like 2 seconds just to usethe eagle vision, its not as instant as the previous games.

Eagle vision requires a long press. But I think you can adjust button press time I the options. Its defaulted at 1000ms.

Let me throw out my complaints so far.

The stamina bar can go to hell.

Eivor climbs as slow as a sloth. Possibly the worst climbing I've seen in the series.

I hate that strong attacks send an enemy flying like they've been hit by a city bus. It was excusable in Odyssey because Kassandra had the spear. Eivor has no artifact. It looks silly.

Enemy NPC hitboxes are dog ****.

And the game is causing screen tearing on Xbox One X and PS4. Ive never seen a console game cause this much screen tearing.

Also the "cinematic camera" option for the longboat is a janky mess. It cuts from angle to angle before the player can appreciate the view, and worse, before it cuts to a new angle it makes everything go out of focus.

I have to say that the metacritic rating of Watchdogslegion/Valhalla (78/85) in XboX Series X is much higher than the ps4 rating (71/81). Unless I'm missing something the ps4/series x version are practically the same thing, just with some graphical differences and I guess loading times because series x is a newer console. I wish Metacritic would have a combined score unless 1 platform gets a much different version/content. I only bookmarked the ps4/ps5 pages and I wouldn't have known that their Series X counterpart is better reviewed if I didn't click links.

It runs at 60 fps in 4k on XsX which is probably eliminating screen tearing and some of the graphical hiccups that last gen consoles are experiencing. The XsX and PS5 also have SSD which means there is less noticeable pop in and better draw distances. And I think the XsX and PS5 version has ray tracing. Also, new gen has uncompressed dolby atmos which is much better audio then the compressed dolby digital used in the last gen version.

Long story short, the new gen version is inevitably going to be rated better when compared to last gen.

I've got a new complaint about this game. Ubi somehow managed to make Viking raids bland and repetitive. You can't even kill civilians and priests during raids. The game desynchronizes.

Personally enjoying this more than Odyssey, I'm glad they cut a lot of the excessive loot and armor that you break down or sell at the first opportunity constantly having to upgrade or replace gear got tedious fast in Odyssey, I also appreciate the guaranteed assassination option, I'm not very far in as I don't want to go too deep before I upgrade to PS5 but so far I'm liking most of the changes. Game looks stunning as well even on PS4.

In my case I tried to save and the save process froze the game and I had to turn the game off. When I started the game up again a bunch of manual and auto save files were missing.

WellI hope they fiX that soon. This is the only 2nd time I bought a game in ps4 that cost me more than 40 dollars and I would just hate to suddenly lose my progress after spending that money/getting the game so early.

Played a bit. Certainly reminds me of all those Viking tv shows! haha.

More importantly, you have a Raven companion and can control said Raven and fly around the gorgeous world. For that reason alone, this is like the Best Game Ever!!
