Since I missed this thread in my Awolness...I have to say, this was probably one of the worst horror films i've seen in a long time. It was terrible in everyway possible, and then way more then that. It was everything an ANOES movie shouldnt be. The dream scenes were boring and uninspired, the deaths were very uninteresting. It wasnt scary, it wasnt fun. It was just so....dull.

The characters were weak. Nancy had NO fire. I dont care if she was molested. GET OVER IT AND KICK SOME ASS! I didnt come here to watch you mope around.

And dont get me started on that Child Molester thing. Making Freddy into just that, was the worst idea possible. Yeah, he "may or may have not" been a child molester in the originals...but he still KILLED THE KIDS. He was a killer alive, and he was one when he was dead. This one, he just decided to kill 'em. Child Molesters dont kill. And they dont need razor claws.

And that's another thing...why was he pissed at the kids? He ratted his own stupid self out. You think that he would've assumed the parents would see the big claw marks on his back....what a dumbass.

Jackie...oh Jackie...you were the perfect choice. But they made you so uninteresting. I'd rather have Freddy's Dead Freddy then this boring one. He wasnt scary, nor interesting. He was a dirty child molester, and that's it.

3/10

So that's my review. Probably long overdue, and unwanted...but oh well.
You thought the exact same thing about the film that I did and you gave it the same score. :awesome:

It's not an unwanted review in my book.

I wish it was October 5th. I ca'nt wait to watch this on my blu-ray. I've only had a Blu Ray player since December 2008.

freddy was more scary in this movie but the special effect/cgi was terrible...if a 80s movie can do cgi better then a 2010 movie well....FIRE that COMPUTER GRAPHICS COMPANY!

We bearly agree. So yey!

I was fuming after I saw this movie. Fuming. I wanted to punch something.....they killed Freddy. :o

I was pretty pissed off too and I knew I shouldn't have been because I told myself not to expect much but the movie delivered on none of it's promises. It wasn't scary, it wasn't clever and the characters were s**t. It was just bad and it did pretty much kill Freddy.

I agree. Even Freddy was uninteresting. He didnt do anything that the original already didnt do. He even stole every line from him at the end. I mean good lord...

And the FvJ ending....wow. Every beat. "WELCOME TO MY WORLD *****!" Off with his head...kinda.

Just watched the Never Sleep Again documentary...a thousand times better than the movie itself. Pretty rad!

Well, good to see this has a release date now...too bad it's farther away then August. -_- It pisses me off Blu-Ray gets the extras though.

Guess I have to break down and buy one of those just for the features. How stupid.

^^ Are you really going to buy a BLu-Ray for that, Webhead? I'm sure it'll be online. I have a blu-ray, but I didn't get for features. I got it becasue i wanted one.

the original movie had cheap practical effects. the new movie had cheap CGI.

practical effects were used in the 80's. CGI is used now.

where is the difference

please dont even try to writte how the effects were good for its time in the first movie. :awesome:

I didn't think the remake was scary at all. To me, it felt more like a suspense movie...not a horror movie.

To me Freddy is creepy because you're powerless against him, he attacks when you sleep... a time when you expect safety; and he enjoys doing it. It's not like you scream in outright horror at the first sight of him. He's a mix of awesomeness/creepiness.

I have no intention of getting either Blu-Ray or an HDTV until they're really cheap.

The only thing that looked bad to me was the wall thing... it could've been kinda cool if done differently, it just looked rushed.

Not just for Nightmare...pretty much everything is getting a feature packed Blu-Ray and then a dinky single disc DVD...it's really irritating. I don't notice THAT big of a difference in the two. As long as it's not Youtube quality I am very content with my standard TV and DVD's. I've built up a collection of movies and putting those tacky blue cases next to them just...:o

The first movie had its moments of cheesy effects...but some of them were damn good. The wall part, Tina being killed in the room, Glenn's death...

The wall scene in the new one LOOKED cool shot wise, but the CGI hurt it. It's not the worst I've ever seen but it is very "why didn't they just do it the way it was done back in the old days?" to me.

Yeah, that's true. I see what you mean.

The first movie's effects were very creative. The wall scene, Tina's death, and Glen's death are fantastic. And still hold up today.

The new one's effects cant even hold up today....

I was a tad interested in seeing this because of Jackie Earle but the reviews don't make me want to see it at all so I guess I'll pass up again. I have seen almost none of the new horror remakes, Chainsaw Massacre, halloween 1 or 2, Friday 13th, House of Wax, The Omen. Only the Grudge and it sucked big time. Looks like I'll skip on this one too, at least for now. May check it out if someone loans me a copy or it comes on tv in about 1 or 2 years.

Don't wait for a TV showing dude. Atleast not where it'll be edited.

It really is good, in my opinion. Critics hate most horror flicks anyway, and I don't want to get flamed for this but alot of the fans who hate this movie have some really bad reasons. Saying it's bad because it's not Robert Englund or there's no nudity is ridiculous. That's not fair at all.

I am very pleased with it, and I could just have easily not have been pleased. I mean, I heard about this movie and thought "okay, cool. I liked what I've seen of the original film and I like Freddy Krueger", and I had seen New Nightmare back in like 2007. Then I went to go buy the first one and loved it even more just sitting there, watching it all the way through un-edited and all the special features. I got the box set and watched all of them all the way through in one night last summer.

But before that, I saw Watchmen and really, Jackie was the only thing I liked in it. It was a meh movie to me, with Rorschach making it good at all. A few weeks after that I heard he was playing Freddy Krueger and almost came. That got me excited as hell for the remake. So I watched Little Children and seeing him play a child molester sold it for me. He was going to nail it.

The movie stays away from stupid horror cliches like sex, nudity, drinking, drugs, and all around STUPID teenage characters. The Nightmare series is really good about that anyway.
So with a few meh CGI effects, and some dry dialogue here and there, it's flawed. But the story and Freddy Krueger save the movie drastically. The actors in it do really well in parts, and okay in others. The musical score is beautiful and probably my favorite horror movie score.
It's flawed, but if you're wondering if you should watch it or not, I say ATLEAST pay a couple bucks at a video store for it.

Yeah I think I will give it a try then when its on DVD. Waiting for tv was mostly me talking in hyperbole lol

I'm a bit iffy on Freddy being a child molestor though. But I mostly want to see it for Jackie earle. I thought he was amazing in Watchmen, but I loved the entire movie.

I also just read Tom Dekker is in it, I like him!

There's the back of the Blu-Ray DVD.

It's not bad, but why Kris? She's not the main character. Hopefully the regular DVD will have a better back art, considering Blu-Ray loves adding tons of ugly unnecessary designs and text.

That's a sweet shot of Freddy, but yeah, it'd be much cooler with Nancy instead. Hopefully someone can get a good scan when it comes out.
