To be fair, there's no yellow Spandex involved in Robin's suit.

To give a more serious answer, it has to do with Robin being a device writers can use to give further insight into Batman's character. If you really have the opinion that Robin is "colorfull and.... gay", your only exposure to the character has to be Burt Ward in stockings. Which is unfortunate.

My feelings on this: There should be no conventional Robin put into the Nolan movies, if there's gonna be one. And there probably shouldn't be a Robin, at least not yet.

Nolan may not have condemned Robin, but he made it fairly clear he had no particular interest in the character. I like Robin well enough but I also think I prefer the solo Batman. However, if Robin were to appear he should have a story arc that took a couple of films to play out entirely, culminating with him leaving and a Nightwing spinoff series happening, because, really, that would be great.

But before you can have Nightwing you need to have Robin. Because Dick was apprenticed, as it were, with the Batman.

And yea, The most I've seen of Robin is either Ward or O'Donnell... It's still stupid that a someone called The Dark Knight has a kid in red and green following him.

Not in the first 3. Maybe later. To me, much of Dark Victory should be the backbone of BB3. The worst part of the story was Dick Grayson/Robin. For now, it should be Bats on his own.
