November 2007 Solicitations

wouldn't they be called "ConDooms" then?

No, because it would sound the same.
It's too many o's.
The word 'doom' on a box of condoms? Not a good idea. Use 'u' and you still get the same sound without the spelled out dread.

Bagley's art for MIGHTY AVENGERS looks alright, although naturally he's not in his prime from the early 90's, some 15 years ago, and relies on the colorist like many artists these days to spruce up. Still, he does good bright superhero work, so he is a good fit.

What I always find "great" is how Bendis maintains a tight knit continuity with his own books and is much more willy-nilly with the continuity that anyone else establishes. I mean, sure, most writers treat their own titles as a pocket "universe" of sorts and interconnect subplots/details sometimes (Dan Slott and Robert Kirkman come to mind), but most of them also show the same curtesy towards other writers' work, while Bendis, whether you love him or hate him, picks and chooses what he will run with and what he will either outright retcon or passive-aggressively retcon by omitting. Naturally, as the #1 selling writer at Marvel, anything he does is supposed down the line, while the works others do, sometimes with his own characters, is barely noticed.

Example: as soon as Purple Man became hot **** in ALIAS, suddenly every book in Marvel took heed, treating him as if he was always some purple Hannibal Lector instead of a F-List Daredevil castaway. Meanwhile, in DOCTOR STRANGE: OATH, BKV had Dr. Strange allow Night Nurse, a character BENDIS INVENTED, move into the Sanctum and date Strange, and Bendis has been writing Strange in about 6 issues of NA without a mention of this point. When and if he finally does acknowledge it with either an on-panel appearence or a throwaway line, Bendis, of course, will expect his penis to be slurped for it.

The symbiotes suffered a massive drain in numbers from Venom during the 90's and even got a bio in a Handbook Update from this year, but whether Bendis will insert any of this (or an editor will remind him), or he will go about his merry way without any care as to getting history or powers right (like with Carnage in NA #2) is anyone's guess.

Frankly, I had enough of symbiotes in the 90's. Marvel played them out, like that annoying friend of yours who apes the same god damned 3 lines from that CHAPPELLE SHOW skit. I am not looking forward to more of them.

Bendis didn't invent Night Nurse. She was a way old character from the 70s that he updated to modern times.

So, Newsarama updated with more Marvel previews, the X-book solicits are out (http://www.comicbookresources.com/news/newsitem.cgi?id=11657):

Captain America - so Epting and Perkins are back to doing individual arcs again, rather than sharing scenes. The Black Widow's becoming increasingly prominent.

Iron Man: Director of SHIELD Annual - actually looks fun (although maybe Jim Cheung's books wouldn't be so late if he stopped doing all those covers for other things).

Thor - that's Sif on the cover, I think, but the solicit is almost certainly refering to Loki.

No Astonishing X-Men (what's Astonishing X-Men, you say? 'Tis a rare, magical beast seldom seen by mortal eyes).

The "Messiah CompleX" stuff looks interesting, and Ramos' New X-Men art is actually pretty good, apart from everyone's giant boots.

the symbiote stuff is just ****in moronic.

Aftersmash,is overkill imo. Everything else is cool tho, why no daredevil solicits?

How? There's nothing but Ionic Energy under that epidermis.
So? If the Carnage symbiote can take over the Silver Surfer, I think another Venom offspring would be just fine taking over Wonder Man. Besides, it's Bendis. If he does actually have a symbiote bond with Wonder Man, do you really think the ionic energy thing will matter to him?

This is the same Bendis-written Wonder Man who, in the span of 15 minutes, needs someone to carry him and then flies by himself. Ionic energy be damned!

Finally!!!!11!!!

From the pages of CIVIL WAR comes the tale of a man out of time! An accident in the Negative Zone propels Captain Marvel from the past to the present day. Now he must come to terms not only with his own impending death, but with the way the world has changed in the time he has been gone. Brian Reed (NEW AVENGERS: ILLUMINATI; MS. MARVEL) and Lee
Weeks (DAREDEVIL; SPIDER-MAN: DEATH AND DESTINY) bring you the mini–series that returns one of Marvel's greatest heroes back where he belongs.

HOUSE OF M: AVENGERS #1 (of 5)

Why? Seriously, why?

MARVEL ZOMBIES 2 #2 (of 5)

Can we go like 2 months w/o zombies...please?

Gage and Perkins, it will be so good it will suck. :(

LOL! Sarcasm.

Haha no, I'm really anxious to see what they do with him. They hyped up his return only to have him twiddle his thumbs during the end fight of CW. He needs to do something....NOW!

Maybe he and Sentry can go play in a sandbox or something :o
