Now that Hollywood is seemingly targeting the 90's, what do/don't you want to see?

Just make a Biker Mice Fromage movie where they are human. Fat bikers with assless chaps and viking helmets...rated R.

The weird thing about 90's cartoons is that most of them aren't ongoing. The 80's stuff like Transformers and Turtles always had a new version coming out. Even if some have failed (Thundercats and the new, actually great He-Man), at least there was an attempt.

Most of them aren't owned by a toy company who needs new versions of a property on TV to keep their own lines going.

ah. that makes sense.

Yeah it's pretty much because of Mattel these shows are around in some form, with the exception of TMNT, who aren't owned by them. I mean we haven't seen Duck Tales or Gummi Bears get rebooted by Disney.

There was a dinosaur themed ripoff of Street Sharks. They should adapt that one.

I miss Duck Tales. One of the bets themes ever

I know it was attempted and then went into development hell but is there ever a scenario in which Buffy: The Vampire Slayer could be rebooted with Joss Whedon's blessing?

Why? The show was pretty damn good.

Not the TV show itself. What I was asking was does anyone think that there's a scenario by which Buffy Summers and her crew would make their way to the big screen with a new telling of the Buffy origin story? And of course Joss Whedon gives his blessing to this.

Would that ever happen?

Extreme Dinosaurs is what you refer to, say what you will about the show, the figures were awesome, same with Street Sharks, I got Street Shark figures before watching the show because I thought they looked so good, figures came first then the show came after for me.

You mean, WITHOUT his blessing. That was what WB was trying to do til it died off.

It was a wrongheaded move on the studio; similar from a few years ago, a studio wanted to reboot Doctor Who movie that's not in continuity with the current show. It shows how out of touch studios are with the fan base.

So I've read. What's wrong with Doctor Who being rebooted in its own continuity free from the show?

First off, they would be doing without the participation of the producers of the show. Also, you're alienating tons of fans of the franchise. Dr. Who now is fairly big, so it would be stupid to undermine the audience. Now if the movie is an association with the show, and the same producers involved, then it would be different.

It would be like the Doctor Who 'reboot' (which is now in continuity of the show) on Fox from the 90's, but on a larger scale. Which would be a failure.

Essentially, it would be a fool's errand, and a bit insulting to do something like this. I love Hollywood, I love movies, but I read something like this, I can only think of Legend of Chun-Li or DragonBall; a half-witted reason to adapt a property based on a misconception of branding. It's undermining the public.

Buffy Summers (Buffy nerd moment).

This probably belongs in the Transformers section, but... Beast Wars. I ****ing loved Beast Wars.

Talking about Beast Wars is totally fine here IMO. With all that time travel stuff they've done in that show, a Beast Wars movie could do what X-Men: DOFP did for the X-Men franchise altogether. They could effectively erase stuff like The Fallen etc. If they were to make that happen, they could find a way of working stuff that happened in ROTF, DOTM, AOE into the plot which could effectively retcon them in some way and do them justice.

The challenge with this is that there's a lot of CG and mo-cap they gotta do. I guess they could use the plot point that everyone went miniature to efficiently conserve Energeon to make it easier with the robots. It'd be like Dawn of the Planet of the Apes I guess.

I'm still a little upset that none of the Buffy/Angel spinoffs and continuations ever happened like the Spike movie or the Faith series (which was pitched but Dushku did Tru Calling instead).
