someone uploaded the mall scene here

the mall scene is interesting because you kinda realise even more so that singer was trying to inject more fun and humour into it

yeah, the tone is all over the place. it could have worked if the mall scene happens before the cerebro scene and apocalypse's arrival. the problem for me would be quicksilver - his scene, while really entertaining and fun - a standout really, wouldn't work with the tone of total destruction. i would have kept the mall as is, then cerebro and then quicksilver with a different score and less humor.
I always assumed, based on interviews, that the Quicksilver scene would be a neat inversion to his DOFP scene, in that it would be more of a 'race against time, real stakes are actually happening here' thing. Singer after all described the scene as 'bittersweet'. Who knew that the scene actually turned out to be an exact replica of the DOFP scene, tone-wise.

And the mall scene is so interesting because for once, we actually get to see mutants being accepted instead of hearing about it in passing. This would be such a refreshing take on the mutant metaphor, like the Grant Morrison run in the comics. Instead, we glossed over this important period of mutant history for them go to back to being hated and feared again, as implied by the end of the movie in the aftermath of Apocalypse's destruction. Although since Magneto was seemingly publicly forgiven for helping the X-Men defeat Apocalypse, maybe future movies won't hit the 'hated and feared' button too hard and actually show a wide range of responses to mutants, which would be more interesting.
if you want meta-humans accepted and celebrated by society maybe read EVERY other superhero comic there is?!? The point about the X-Men is exactly this marginalization. Writing this out of the canon of the franchise is ridiculous...sorry but no sorry!
i mean, i can't really fault singer's ultimate choice, most viewers even if they didn't like the movie LOVED the quicksilver 2.0 scene - for most it was a highlight.
Its one of those things where you have a choice do you replicate what people loved about the DOFP scene which is likely the fun silly aspect or do you change it up to add stakes and not be comedic, would it still have had the same impact?
sorry, I brought my anger from another thread to this one. fair enough. but honestly, I'm just not used to so much unchecked white male privilege in my life like these pop culture forums are constantly producing. I'm not moving in these kinds of environments. It just shows why mainstream culture is so utterly ****ed up and offensive to minorities. Because people who are consuming it are.
I need a save space...
