I think it's their trust in Nick more than anything. I doubt she showed them any sparklefists or anything (although that would probably make for a cool funny scene lol). I think of it in the context of the mid-credits scene in Captain Marvel where Natasha didn't care who the signal from Fury's pager is going to. All she knows is that Fury sent it to someone and that means something. So, basically, the fact that Fury sent for her as an absolute last resort means that he thinks she will be an undeniable asset to them.

That works... but Rhodey wasn't all too impressed haha

They say he used the stones to "bring them all back." Were they talking about the planet Titan and Thanos' people? I considered that the retirement planet was Titan but I didnt expect him to resurrect all of his dead people. It makes him seem like more of a psycho. Thanos' entire motivation is the tragedy that befell his pepeople. He spends IW talking about there not being enough resources for everyone. And now its revealed that he could use the stones to resurrect them all and fix Titan. So why the **** didnt the big purple idiot just do that from the beginning? Resurrecting his people and fixing Titan proves he can create resources, enough for everyone, and can use the Stones to help other planets.

Carol ain't dying at the beginning of the movie no matter how much some of you wish for it. It's obvious she would be humbled, but they are not killing her off.

I think Thanos will kick their asses in the beginning but she won't die for sure. I guess the trailers didn't show her with the gang 'cause she, Thor and Rocket will be in a kind of secondary quest or something.

Or it's just the trailer misleading us all, too.

Maybe they detected him using the Soul stone to chat with little Gamora.

They said he used the stones again. Then Carol said they should get the stones and use it to bring everyone back.

Yeah, it would be lame if they did that. Not to mention that there is already enough grumbling about MCU's fake deaths with the fallen heroes coming back at the end.

I love seeing the outrage on suggesting CM bites it at the beginning lol I love CM and even I think that would be a ballsy move to gutpunch the audience so early.
Well, remember everyone went into IW thinking, "Well, we know Spider-man, Black Panther, Dr. Strange, and the GotG are all safe because they have more movies coming out"?

That's why is was such a gut punch! I agree...seeing the new heavy hitter decimated so early would be adding insult to our heroes' injury. They need to be at rock bottom before they can climb out...and I cannot wait!

It was a gut punch for like a day then everyone started moaning about fake deaths waaah (which I think is not warranted in the least and people make a bigger deal of it just probably so they have something to moan about) but still! non the less! I don't think that would be deemed as ballsy by a good amount of peoples who can't let that stuff go.

Exactly my thoughts. Everyone is being told Carol is basically Superman. Her movie is helping her ride a wave of excitement into Endgame. IW's teaser had Fury calling her so it means she's serious business. She's cocky as hell and believes she can turn the tide. Seeing Thanos kill her and have him defeat the Avengers again would seriously decimate the hope any of them had...it's perfect.

Thanos doesnt need to kill her. We saw what she did in her solo film. How she tossed people around like rag dolls. And flew through a warship. And in the beginning of Endgame theyve made her seem overconfident and cocky. The audience is going to expect her to wreck Thanos. Shes gonna go at Thanos all lit up ready to throw him around like a rag doll. And hes probably just gonna grab her and stop her cold and then beat the **** out of her. That will be plenty shocking for the general audience.

Offing her in the first 10 minutes wouldn't be perfect at all for me and everybody else who's been waiting for ages to see this character join the Avengers. Even Pietro would've gotten better treatment, and he was never supposed to be one of the new flagship faces of the franchise. She'll get her "power check" moment like Thor and Hulk got last movie, but killed? Nah. It would honestly sour the entire movie for me, and I know I'd be far from alone. Thankfully, I have more faith in the Russo's and Markus/McFeely than that.

I wonder if part of Carols journey is that she gets humbled by her experience with Thanos.

She’s not so cocky anymore and that leads into her eventual second movie

I think her 2nd movie will be set before this.

And frankly, she's not so cocky in this scene that she needs a fundamental character change, lol. Iron Man was still cockier than this 3-4 movies into his tenure, and Dr. Strange and Star-Lord were too, right up 'til their dustings.

Her bravado in this scene is obviously covering up vulnerability, and probably an overwheming feeling of helplessness. I mean, don't just listen to the words, look at her face. It says it all, imo.

I mean we all know that all the characters are coming back at the end anyway but from the point of view of the characters and not from the audience having her dive would be shocking through the group. You could argue that it would be cheap because the audience knows what's happening but the story is being told from what the characters know and seeing so our opinions really shouldn't matter to the story itself.

Like I said I actually really like Captain Marvel and definitely want to see her contribute do the team but man if the russos really do kill her at the beginning I would love to see the reaction on people's faces.

I think Carol is going to get trampled.

People on other sites have said that they think Carol is going to get killed right off the bat when the team takes on Thanos again. I've disagreed with that until now. He might not kill her but she's definitely gonna get messed up. When you sell wolf tickets in the first act, you inevitably get your ass kicked in the second. It's the law.
