I'm getting the feeling that people who think Carol is just going to swoop in and save the day are in store for a huge surprise. Going by what we kind of know so far it seems as if this whole plan to ambush Thanos is very early in the film and it looks like it might not go well at all.

They are going to need alot more than just her to stop Thanos or reverse the snap.

I agree I believe Thanos knows about her and what she can do, there will be another surprise we don’t know yet.

I can't remember if it was the Russo's or Feige that said it, but supposedly she has a weakness in this movie that hasn't been revealed yet. Maybe Thanos knows something that she doesn't and that makes her more vulnerable throughout the rest of the movie.

Yeah... I mean assuming that she will singlehandedly save the day is making people unecessarily worry. It’s not happening. She’ll help in some capacity but this will always be about the core 6.

I think her weakness is kind of obvious...I mean, the core that blew up and gave her those powers was from....wait for it...the Tesseract. So, the space stone could just absorb her power or negate it. Then she's a pilot with no superhuman accuracy (Hawkeye) or deadly assassin training (Black Widow). So, then their back at Thor, Cap, Rhodey, Nebula, and Rocket for super powered warriors. Not great odds, since Hulk still appears to be sitting out on the action.

Yeah, thats a good call.. everybody assumed since her powers came from the tesseract, it means she could destroy it... it could well work the other way too

I will never understand why people dislike her so much. Its not even a dislike... I see comments that sound like people vehemently hate this woman. Not cool.

I'm wondering what feats of power has Carol shown the Avengers that they can take her at her word that they can beat Thanos now that she's arrived.

For me, I don't think they built her up enough as a power house that we should expect to see some Marvelous scenes showcasing her strength.

Of course we will get some great cgi fight scenes with Carol and Thanos a la IW and I am very confident this movie will make us really like the MCU Captain Marvel

I think it's their trust in Nick more than anything. I doubt she showed them any sparklefists or anything (although that would probably make for a cool funny scene lol). I think of it in the context of the mid-credits scene in Captain Marvel where Natasha didn't care who the signal from Fury's pager is going to. All she knows is that Fury sent it to someone and that means something. So, basically, the fact that Fury sent for her as an absolute last resort means that he thinks she will be an undeniable asset to them.

Thanos is one of those guys that needs to be like tripled teamed to even buckle him. Thor, Carol and Hulk need to be on his ass all at once, none of that one at a time ****.

With so little of this having been shown so close to release I am betting on us having no idea how big this film is really going to be. I am expecting a third act that's like the Titan and Wakanda scenes combined.

Her powers come from an Infinity Stone. Thanos has the Infinity Stones. The Gauntlet allows him to wield and control those stones. So I'm thinking he can use the stones to nullify her powers.

I could be wrong, but it feels like (at least recently) - if they do announce what the budget was, it typically hasn't been until the movie opens/starts to make money (for example I feel like we didn't hear about what InfinityWar's budget was reported to actually be until the week of release).

I think I know what happens. Captain America uses the stones to absorb the powers of all the other Avengers and becomes a super Avenger that defeats Thanos

Thanos now has a universe full of pissed-off beings who want to destroy him. Some of those beings have cosmic powers equal or nearly-equal to his own. Maybe some of them have tracked him down like the Avengers plan to and he uses the stones to defend himself.
