How??? This still puts the movie at a good deal longer than epics like The Dark Knight and the The Dark Knight Rises and the same length as the theatrical cuts of Fellowship of the Ring and The Two Towers.
Because the 3hrs is probably only 2hrs 50 mins (sans credits). Most folks I know don't count the credits when referring to a film's runtime. It's longer than Infinity War, but I was hoping for legit 3hrs of story and then 10mins of credits.

But I can't be too choosy.

I undertand the full full critic embargo doesn't lift until one or two days prior to the global release, but what about the social media embargo? I don't put much stock in them but I am still curious to see how people initially react to this massive culmination film.

I believe both social media and review embargo will be lifted on the 23rd

probably too annoying, but just for sake of discussion;

how many times in the MCU do we have any of the team refer to one another by their codenames/superhero identities?

Like I recall Vision (in Civil War) calling Steve, Captain Rogers. And Natasha always calls Hawkeye, Clint. But they have a long friendship so that would make sense.

and what about the general public? do they refer to Sam as Falcon or Rhodey as War Machine or Wanda as the Scarlett Witch?
I don’t know about Scarlett Witch, but in Ant-Man, Scott refers to Sam as “The Falcon” so it’s safe to say all the general public view these heroes by their codenames. Rhodey and Tony even had a discussing in Iron Man 3 about how the attempt at rebranding War Machine to Iron Patriot for the civilians was lame.

As far as the heroes themselves, they rarely refer to each other by codenames, which makes sense since they’re all pretty friendly with one another, or introduce themselves by their real names. So far only Scott and Peter have really referred to other characters consistently by their codenames. Captain America is called his the most, I assume because of his status as a national icon.

I know I'm supposed to watch Captain America first, because his film takes place before the rest, but I always start with Iron Man. I love seeing how it kick-started everything. I'm on "Thor"!

Do people you know look at a runtime of the film, look up how long the credits are, and then subtract them from the runtime before saying how long the film is? That seems like quite the hassle.

t's been great reading theories and what people claim are "spoilers," however it's hard to know what to believe and not to believe. I am wondering what folks are actually considering to be FACTS at this point?

For me, I feel fairly confident that the structure of the movie can be broken down into 3 parts;

1. The movie starts with most of the remaining Avengers planning and going after Thanos.

2. Ant-Man returns, Avengers enter the Quantum Realm
-What they do here I'm not sure , however I feel fairly certain that they visit some of the past movies...well at least the first Avengers.

3. Avengers Final Battle Against Thanos

Major moments;
-Tony/Steve Reunion
-The evolution of Banner/Hulk
-Snapped Characters return
-A "moneyshot" scene involving most if not all the heroes: however I am not sure if this occurs during the final battle against Thanos, at Tony and Pepper's wedding, or at a funeral for the death of one of the major characters.

Am I missing anything?

I feel Thanos will be the audiences in to the world of the Eternals so I don't think he will die. Maybe his father A'lars is still alive and shows up to take him in.

I think no ones seeing this until week of release to be honest. Or whenever the premiere is.

Honestly, they'd have to be really stupid to interfere with any of the Russo's decisions. They're the best thing to happen to the MCU in my honest opinion. Each film they do constantly ups the game.
Don't forget Markus and McFeely, they have been a package deal with the Russos throughout this golden age. Even The First Avenger had a great script and was only really let down by mediocre directing, production design, and budget.

You're definitely right! They should be given huge credits too.

Nah, but on the offhand. "How long is the movie?" "Oh, it's like 90 mins". Of screentime not the 10-15mins of credits.

While Markus and Mcfeely deserve credit for their recent efforts, it should not be forgotten that they wrote the screenplay for Thor 2.

So yeah, all that stuff with Malekith and Darcy you hated? They wrote that (with Chris Yost).

Didn't Whedon help re-write some stuff too? We don't know who wrote what

That seems kind of pointless to me. Everyone knows that the runtime includes credits so everyone can estimate the pure film time for themselves anyway when hearing the official figure, and less risk of misunderstanding when everyone refers to the same figures. But to each their own.

Agree with everything, Markus and McFeely are the most underrated guys in Marvel Studios. They deserve as much praise as Feige and the Russos.
I don't agree with the bold part though, the production design for First Avenger was great!

Recent efforts? Quite the contrary, their work has been very consistent. Thor: The Dark World is an isolated blip. Also, how do you know the weak parts with that film are their contributions? As you stated, Chris Yost was also a screenwriter on the film. And Whedon did uncredited re-writes as well. You are putting way too much emphasis on one film, when they had strong contributions both before and after. They also gave us Agent Carter and the only good Michael Bay movie of the last 20 years, Pain & Gain.

I wouldn’t be surprised if there are a bunch of people who will have the 4 Russo films as their top 4 in the MCU.

It had some great elements, but I thought it was rather mixed. The American stuff, SSR, Steve's transformation, were all golden, but I thought a lot of the Hydra stuff looked weak and uninspired, especially the Tesseract-based weapons, troopers, train, and stuff. It was too generic and futuristic. I would have loved stuff that looked more retro like the SSR tech and like the design used by the new Wolfenstein games. The design of the bomber at the end was solid though.

I agree with much of the sentiment here. Personally, I liked First Avenger; was never a Captain America fan growing up reading comics but this is what the MCU did for me: elevate my B and C list heroes.

But yes, that movie could have been next level with the Russos directing. From a comic nerd standpoint, I appreciate their motto that (paraphrasing) "the powers fit the story, not the other way around". It really bounces around within the movie even how power levels or durability are played with to fit the plot and it works for me.

What I really appreciate they did with Steve Rogers is emphasize the Super in Super-Soldier. He might not be on Thor or even Iron Man's tier but he's still a force to be reckoned with, and I'm totally onboard with how they buffed him for Winter Soldier moving forward. I wish we could have seen a bit more of that, and the Russo/Markus+McFeely synergy for intense action and well placed humour. First Avenger had it in bits, and in the funnier/touching parts you can see M+M shining through but in a perfect world I'd like to see a Russo remake.

Sorry for off topic...
