Question y'all, did Thanos know that the mind stone was in the scepter when he gave it to Loki? It's always seemed weird that someone so determined to acquire all the stones would be lending them out that way, even as he hires others to do the dirty work of going and getting them.

I think he figured Loki would take earth easily. And I think Loki did too because he didn't count on Thor showing up because the bifrost was destroyed.

I kind of rolled my eyes in the final battle when

All the female heroes were in one shot together charging at thanos. Just felt forced in the women power and took me out of the movie. Call me whatever you want but just like in IW when the 3 on 1 fight happened it just didn't work for me.
I get there badass women who can hold there own but it just feels like pandering to say hey look at us were progressive. Wouldn't it mean more and progressive to just have all the heroes and there genders and race mixed in a lineup and charging at thanos together?
I'm fine with the idea my only criticism is that the fight that ensued right after wasn't that memorable. I had the same issue with that moment in Infinity War.

So...

*Thor does epic entrance smashing an army, numerous flying vessels and nearly killing Thanos* Woooo!
*Captain Marvel does epic entrance smashing one Flying vessel and still gets beat down by Thanos with one stone* .... UGH! Its Pandering!

*Three male heroes have three on one fight with Thanos* Wooo! Amazing!
*Three female heroes have three on one fight with Thanos's lacky* ... UGH Pandering!

Some people really have issues and insecurities way beyond this film. Its such a shame.

Honestly anyone having problems with women scenes is clearly just having them because of gender. They should have some shame and hold their tongue, but I guess some people don't mind coming off as sexist

In Age of Ultron, several male Avengers squared off against the mad robot and not one person complained about that. Wanda is clearly as powerful as any of them, and indeed she destroyed Ultron's most powerful form, but no one thought it weird that she was excluded from the fight where she might have been a deciding factor. And not one person has ever suggested that that scene or any other males-only moment was "pandering" to the men and boys in the audience.

Flip the script and examine your own biases before making these kinds of allegations.

You could have hundreds of male characters all charging against another army of male characters and no one even raises an eyebrow. But if 2 or 3 women have each other's back in a final battle of a movie, that's forced, that's pandering, that's feminism, that's "SJW!!!" and a really big issue apparently.

But I mean yeah, it is kind of forced. Because a bunch of male superheroes teaming up with each other is the norm, it's normal, it's the status quo, with women it's not. If we keep "forcing" female characters, black characters, LGBTQ characters etc. into our media more and more, eventually it will be normalized and no one even thinks about it anymore. That's the whole point!

It's like complaining that putting female actresses into plays in the 17th century is forced, ridiculous and somehow a problem. How are we supposed to normalize having women in plays if it's a problem every time we try it???

Reminds me of a friend of mine after Homecoming who loved the movie but was annoyed with the "forced SJW diversity" of Peter's school in Queens. You know, the school in probably the most diverse neighborhood on the planet.

Forced!!1

Preach!!!

Well said!

Cap's ending is somewhat of a backward progression for me. It's like, he moved past being the guy who wanted to live with Peggy and all that only to go back at the first opportunity. I would have preferred to see Cap take a backseat role in the present personally, but I am not going to get bent out of shape about it because Cap's development in the movie is otherwise amazing and he gets probably the best moments of the entire film. He really is the MVP of the movie overall for me, even if I felt Tony's payoff was better. But it is open enough so if Evans ever changes his mind, Steve can likely come back somehow. So I am very happy about that. Hopefully whenever they do Secret War they can transport Cap to Battleworld with everyone else and bring him back to lead!!!

As for Sam, I would have preferred Bucky because he has more presence as a character. Sam was barely in IW and Endgame, and Bucky was a much larger presence in both Cap films Sam appeared in. I don't think Sam can fill Steve's shoes and I still see him as a side character who just happens to have his shield now, but it is up to Marvel to prove me wrong on this front.
I knew you would feel this way. I agree on both point. Still a very good movie.

Yeah I was trying not to give anything away re that when you asked me. :cwink: I can’t believe how much they delivered on and surpassed every expectation on the Cap front in the main battle. Just amazing.

I don’t think it is pandering as much as it is setting up the possibility of AForce in the future.
I'll be down for that. I hope they include Nakia. Hate that she's not in this.

I know some might say they are no longer interested in future MCU film because most of the original 6 are gone. I thought this movie would make me sad ,since we'll never see them again. But surprisingly, I don't feel like I'm going to miss them. I love these characters, but I'm ready to move on to other characters. Carol is shaping up to become my new favourite. I can't wait to see far from home, doctor strange 2 and gotg volume 3. Bring it on marvel, I'm in it for the long haul.

Thor and Rocket are still my favs so if they were gone I'd lose interest but they are not so I'm still on board :}

Again it didn't work for me because it felt forced at that point. Wonder woman charging into no mans land in a heroic moment worked, the women lining up like in this movie didn't. You can put the sjw card down because there have been plenty of times heroic women have worked in these movies. Even like I don't a certain characters sacrifice in this very movie an hour earlier.

Well said and I completely agree!!

When u watch videos like the one below and u hear firsthand what that moment meant to women- it just makes their complaints even more lame.

VIDEO CoNTAINS SPOILERS: talks about what that scene meant to her

There was another beat that took me out of the moment in that battle, and that is when
all sounds of battle stopped when Tony and Peter reunited. I get- give them the moment, but there's a war on and to have it slow down for a hug or a panoramic shot... ok, it's just technical, my minor quibble, but the 2 sudden stops were a distraction for me.

and in case it is a poll, my crowd cheered loudly for the women.

It's just nice to not have to choose among male superheroes if I feel like dressing up. That was life for a long time, tweaking men's outfits so they worked for me. Now it's a feast up there- so much so, I can pick and choose which of the female superheroes I like, just as I can pick and choose which of the male supers I like. That is -- I almost said 'a luxury', but it shouldn't be!--and about time.

Sorry if my wording wasn't clear. What I meant was that qualities of Endgame weren't the product of restrictions placed on the earlier films but rather skillfull writing on this one. That same focus could have been applied to whatever iteration of the earlier films would have been made. The good things about Endgame aren't the product of studio heads forcing out Edgar Wright, trying to take things in a different direction and then mostly using his script anyways etc. The best of these films have always been the product of filmmakers with strong voices engaging with these characters.

I completely misunderstood. Language, especially written, can often be read in many different ways. Face to face usually works better as you get immediate feedback. I get what you're saying now. I still think that the overall story held together well and believe it was a result of a long range plan that got fine tuned as we moved along in it. That, by necessity, involves some control over story lines. Could be wrong about that, but it seems to be the case to me.

I apologize if I took the wrong meaning from his post. Maybe I missed some context from an earlier post....but kinda hard to misinterpret "Endgame didn't work".

Again sorry if I missed something.

Very easy, IMO, to misinterpret (since I did LOL) as it can easily be read 2 different ways. Sentence construction can be tricky and none of us are immune from writing something that can easily be misinterpreted. Maybe "Endgame worked great, but not because.....it was because.....". Anyway, mystery solved and I've personally written much more incoherent posts.
