Comics Official CAPTAIN BRITAIN AND MI:13 Discussion Thread

Hey, THE ENGLISHMAN. Stumbled across another archery themed hero in the MU when reading Kate Bishop's wiki entry today; and he's BRITISH!
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Golden_Archer
He was affiliated with the Squadron Supreme and ended up having his skull fractured and being cryogenically frozen in the hopes of one day reviving him. Sounds like the perfect guy to bring back from the 'dead'. He doesnt appear to have an origin either, so that could be explored or created further down the line after the invasion.

Only problem, he's from Earth 712 - but even that is territory for Excalibur what with it being the original series for alternate Earths.

Maybe with a name change though eh. Like, he appears and they ask who the hell he is. Then he says he used to be the golden archer, but now he reckons ? sounds less crap

Well Black Archer sounds good. As any preview art for issue 1 been released yet?

Black archer is a bit too much in the same vein as black panther, black goliath (I'm sure there are a bunch of other black marvel heroes who call themselves the black whatever)
No previews far as I know

Yes true, And MI:13 have Black Knight so we dont need a character named after a colour. How about just The Archer???

Did this book get canned after "Die by the Sword"?

Why yes, yes it did, now its been completely renamed and revamped with only Captain Britain remaining from the last team....and it looks....i dunno, British

Except we Brits dont seem to have much in the way of homegrown heroes - Captain Midlands? John the Skrull?

Excalibur with Brian and Betsy would be ideal for me. But with someone else leading the team so the twins don't clash over years with the X-Men against symbol for Britain and Merlin's chosen. Black Knight would be a good choice as in the Epting era of Avengers he demonstrated impressive leadership skills and tactical ability.

Brian for the Cap aspect and powerhouse - Cap and Thor of the group
Psylocke for fighting skills and teke - Black Widow
Dane for weapons, brashness on occasion, but good leadership - the Hawkeye
Micromax trained properly and less of a joke - Giant-Man
Sage, become even more logical and computer like in wake of becoming omniversal guardian - Vision
Wisdom - energy based powers, connections, willing to kill if necessary - bit of a lot of people

i really like the line up above....only you have to add in meggan! that whole story needs to get brought up again!

why did CC have to ruin this revamp...again! this is the third excalibur in like 3 years! thats ridiculous. betsy should have been in excalibur NOT exiles.

Sod captain Britain, we need a Captain England who just gets drunk all the time. Would be awesome!

CAPTAIN BRITAIN AND MI 13 #3
Written by PAUL CORNELL

Cover by BRYAN HITCH
SECRET INVASION TIE-IN, PART 3 (of 4)
It’s Science Fiction versus Fantasy as the war machines of the unstoppable Skrull army invade the magical realm of Avalon. Can Pete Wisdom and the rest of MI 13 keep the Skrulls from taking control of the world’s magic? Will this be our heroes’ finest hour? Or has the sun finally set on the British Isles? And what is Spitfire doing to that Skrull on the cover?
32 PGS./Rated T+ …$2.99

Yeah - need Meggan to be the Wanda of the group (analogue speaking). From the more important perspective - hell yeah they need to address ditching the man's wife and him dont bugger all about it.

Can live with Spitfire on the team though. Union jack too if he wasnt too much just a bloke with a couple guns and knife. Far as I know this version isnt even former special forces or revamped with some kinda transfusion from someone golden age or something.

Claremont had nothing to do with this revamp. He just ended two series in order to gain complete control of one

It's been renamed because the book follows up on New Excalibur, and we've been talking about it here for the last couple months or so, so there's no reason to really have another thread.

SECRET INVASION TIE-IN!
The Skrull Invasion isn’t restricted to the US. When the Skrull Invasion hits England, only Captain Britain and MI: 13 stand in their way. Can they find out what the Skrulls are after before it’s too late?
