Comics Official CAPTAIN BRITAIN AND MI:13 Discussion Thread

The Blacknight has a long history, some of it interesting, some of it not. He used to be a man named Dane Whitman... not sure if he still is the Black Night or not. He has history with Captain Britain, was with the Avengers for a while in the 90's, left our dimension with Sersi for a pocket dimension, ended up in sucky Malibu comics for a time, and then after that I didn't really follow what happened to him. Guess this will explain where he has been!

Yes but what i want to know is, is he English/British???

I think he is american, the same black knight from heroes for hire right.

Correct. Dane Whitman is from the United States. The original Black Night, Sir Percy, was English though and a member of the King Arthur's knights of the round table. And I believe Dane's family is English in origin. He inherited a family castle in England called Garret Castle. It was there that he found Sir Percy's tomb and was deemed noble enough to inherit Sir Percy's Ebony Blade.

Yeah it was crazy enogh for me to put in it my sig.

How many issues is out there? Is it a monthly magazine?

Why can't a British based team have more British heros in it??

well rite now the only actually british members are captain britain and pete wisdom. but in fairness nocturne is an alternate reality daughter of nightcrawler, a long-time serving member of the original excalibur. and juggernaut has spent alot of time in the isles since he was black tom cassidy's partner in crime.

but theres also a very good chance of the black knight and or chamber joining.

Just read #1 and I really like the dark x-men. Are they froma another dimension or something? will it get better?

The split of British/European/American characters on the team are actually quite evenly split...

We've got Cap Britain & Pete Wisdom as the Brits.

Nocturne (German/Latverian) & Sage (Balkan) as the Europeans.

and only to yankees Juggernaut & Dazzler.

so the split isn't that bad.

yes who really believes Chamber is joining the team after seeing that preview.

Yup, I think #8 is the best issue yet.

I would agree the book is getting better, but I still don't like this run 1/2 as much as I liked the original run of Excalibur. I think it's mostly that I don't like characterization for Dazzler and Sage. It's a little off IMO. I initially didn't like the Dark X-Men story, but I have forgiven it just a bit since they've tied it into the overall point of the book which is to explore the cause and effects of M-Day. Although I still think it was just a way for them to bring another Jean Grey into the mix... ;)

How do you see Jean getting in the mix of NE?

I'm just wondering if CC will lose both Exiles and this book to those filling in for him. Just that I read what Tieri said about his run and that got me interested. So what if sales incress etc under him and fall again when CC comes back????
