Official Contest of Marvels II Discussion Thread

Man, been a few days. Thanks for the happy birthdays everyone. It wasn't exceptional, but not bad. Didn't get any presents (my wife and mother are both too broke, understandable) but we did manage to get my siblings and kids together with my mom and they sang happy birthday and mom made me a solid blue cake (every year since before I remember... tradition). I'm getting used to the long hours at work. Another month and a half or so and it'll really start slowing down to almost nothing for the rest of the year... I'm so looking forward to that. I worked 10 hours Monday, 13 Tuesday, 11 yesterday and 11 today. I'm expecting around 12 to 14 tomorrow depending on if I can actually do my job and not fix other people's messes, which is what I did all day today.

Oh... and I'm making an official COM rule starting tonight around Midnight.

No ruining anything about Spiderman 3 until I see it!!!!! No spoilers... I can't resist them!!! I'll let you know when I see it!!! Then we'll discuss!!!!

Okay, this is a concrete rule etched in the COM rules, we'll amend it later as necessary :)

Me too, they won't even let me pay, and for all I know they'll drive me there and buy me lunch and snacks!

GRRRR.....:cmad:

I hope the popcorn is soggy, the pop is flat, and the floors are sticky under your feet just for that....

No not really.....

Enjoy the movie...

I saw Spidey 3 last night and it was ok but not great imho.
 Blasphemy ....

I don't know I just thought some of the acting and scenes were contrived plus the dancing Tobey looked a bit ridiculous eventhough it was very humourous. The action scenes were great though.

And for the last time....my name has nothing to do with cars!!!

I agree. I won't give anything away; I'll just say they spend waaaay too much time on the drama aspect of Peter's life, and the movie could easily have been cut down by 15 minutes or more. I wasn't the only one squirming in my seat, and unlike other movies I've been to on opening day, this one wasn't greeted by the sound of applause when the end credits rolled.

I can't wait for Fantastic Four...the writers of it seem to really know how to give a good amount of action and humor. I'm having a feeling I'll enjoy it more than Spidey.

X-men 2 is still the best comic movie ever, though. I go to see movies based on comics for the action, and nothing has delivered like X2; and, while Spidey 3 had some real good action sequences, it didn't blow me away and we don't get to see much compared to all that drama.

I have to disagree on this one, batman begins topped it for my mind. It was the first movie that really captured the psychological aspect of batman and as a result the truest depiction of any comic book character ever commited to film. The action in that film is also awesome :woot:

I agree with you on Spidey, maybe it's just Raimi's ham fisted handling of the drama, but in the previous two movies, those were the weakest parts.

Glad to see somebody else embrace The Fantastic Four for what it is and have fun with it, I too am looking forward to FF2 more than SM3.

X2 is definately one of my favorites also, right behind Batman Begins and Hulk.

Hulk is definitely underrated. Ang Lee tried an interesting approach in how to present the Hulk's story, and I thought he did a pretty fair job.

I also liked Batman Begins; but, Katie Holmes was pretty weak, and I remember not liking the ending in regards to how easily Scarecrow was defeated.

Agree with Ahura Phaed and Prime on Spidey 3. It focused way too much on what were probably the weakest parts of the movie IMO. Still, not a bad movie by any means, but not the best for me either.

Next up, ZOMBIES!!! I'm pretty sure 28 Weeks Later comes out next week. The preview looked pretty good. I always love a good Zombie movie. I can't wait for Resident Evil III. That preview with "Zombie movie meets Mad Max" looks really good. Just hope it's better than the second movie.

Now, I have to get my son the new Spider-Man 3 video game that came out today.

Just saw the movie, definitely some ham-fisted handling of things and some poor comedic elements(almost slapstick), but if anything I can take away from it some sweet team-up action at the end.

I think it's funny that many reviews and people seem to think Venom was tacked on, but to me Sandman seemed tacked 'in', and really didn't need to be in the movie, the Venom/Dark Spidey/Harry arc could have been enough in my eyes.

lol...I was just bugging you....

sigh......saw the movie today....I was disappointed to say the least and I am a BIG Spider-Man fan........I have waited three years for this day......sigh....I am not saying anything more then that....

I liked Batman Begins and X2....but I love SM1 and SM2....to me those movies are great....and I have probably seen them a hundred times....well maybe a dozen.....I also liked Batman (89)....

May I object to the Man-Wolf's use of Stargod's powers? they are seperate characters in a way. the same way Savage Hulk and Mr. Fixit are seperate.

I petitioned last round to at least have the name changed so as to avoid further confusion. If it is now ruled that he is in fact the Man-Wolf, I demand a rematch with Zemo, since that drastically changes things.

phaed if you are going to take magic users out of the contest I would also take vengeance out as well. Other than agatha and ghost rider there are no serious magic casters left in the tournament and even though it's my character I think it's unfair to have someone only a handfull of characters can injure in the contest. He's a minor character and to be honest I could see him making it all the way to the final as there is simply no-one left that can damage him. Just a thought

I do believe JH already said this is Man-Wolf with the Stargod powers. There are definitely still people that can be considered much more powerful than him in this tournament.

I'm not objecting because he's powerful, I'm objecting because Man-Wolf is not Stargod. Can we at least use Harlekin's suggestion and change the name.

I've got no problem with that. It's only fair my opponents have all the information.
