Official Contest of Marvels II Discussion Thread

Big Brother is the show! I still can't believe the guy admits to having Gonnohrea on the first show in front of everyone. This year looks good already.

I was only really half watching it (I was writing my book) but that part caught my attention. It usually takes a bit for me to get into a reality show. I was the same last season, it took a few weeks for me to get into it, but once I started to get into the characters I was hooked. It'll probably be the same this season. They seem likable enough.

And I'm predicting that the people they kinda played up as the "Bad People" are going to end up being the victoms in their wrong doings and the fans will start to root for them. And I don't think the guy whose supposed to do whatever we say is going to stay long. I just don't see that idea going anywhere.

So, when does debating end again? I'm beat from work right now and I've got plans tomorrow, so what's the dealio? Otherwise, I might be able to fix up something tomorrow morning.

That's a good question. I've got a wedding to go to this afternoon, so I probably won't be able to debate until tomorrow.

We'll easily go until Wednesday...but, if everyone is in a heated debate, we'll let it go longer.

Feel free to let us know if you want to sell. I don't have money now, but there's some Spiderman/X-Men/X-Universe holes I'd like to fill if you're selling any.
I was talking more of the huge number of broken runs in miscellaneous titles I have that I haven't read more than once. I doubt I'll be selling my X-Men collection anytime soon but you'll be 1st on the list if I do

Are we at Bracket Final stage now? I'd really like to be able to vote but don't think I'll be able to unless voting falls on a weekend :(

Guess I can always read the results.

Woot! I'm finally fully HD compliant! :D

Less than £500 and I now have a HDTV, HD-DVD player and full dolby 5.1

I need to get out more :(

< £500!

How d'you manage that?

£300 for a 26" hdtv from tesco direct
£90 for xbox 360 Hd-DVD add on from ebay (including 3 hd-dvd's)
£30 for a surround sound kit off ebay

Total

£420

(I already had my 360 so I don't include that in the price. If I did it would be £610)

Pretty cheap all round

Only £90 for the HD-DVD add on? I'll have to get one.

Do Tesco do larger HDTVs?

Quite a few of their TVs are out of stock.

Big price differences in the biggest TVs. Same size & type of TV vary from £1000 to £3000. Maybe it's down to older models but seems weird. More research needed :(

Just letting you guys know this is a really busy week for me at work. I've only been able to post the one debate, and not sure if I can get my debates in tomorrow. State Patrol is coming for their yearly visit to check the files, and I have to make sure we have everything in order tomorrow. I'll try to get something up; but, do we think it will be a problem delaying voting until the end of this week? Again, really sorry, and I'll try to get something up quickly.

Ok, I got my debates up, and even one rebuttal. I'll try to rebutt any other things as I get a chance. We'll have debating go until Friday...if you guys want more time for the matches since I had to delay, just PM me before Friday at 9:00 AM PST.

Now, I have to get back to doing the paperwork here are work. State comes in and checks our records early tomorrow, and I have about 100 more files to look through.

I did get to see Harry Potter midnight show last night. I won't ruin anything, since I know JH possibly hasn't read the book yet.

Not the best of the 5 movies. In fact, it might be the worst; but, that said, it is still a good movie. I probably give it a B. I figure they must have another new director. When you first watch the movie, most of you might think I'm daft, but I'll give you my reasons and not reveal any of the story.

1) The movie didn't flow good. At times, it felt like parts of the film were missing about 10 seconds and spliced together. Bad editting, that's for sure. When you see it, I think you'll notice scenes which seem to end a bit too quickly and new scenes that start a bit too soon. In fact, an early dream sequence just feels popped into the film and not explained as well as in the book.

2) The book is just really so much better. This is evident in the rest of the cast, besides Harry. You will wonder why even have Ron and Hermione at times (especially Ron, he's almost just decor). For those who read the book, scenes with these secondary characters are trimmed dramatically, especially Kreatcher, the other members of the Order of the Phoenix, and even Dudley and his parents. I know the first two films put too much of the books into the movies, maybe; but, this is quite the reverse.

3) The beginning of the movie is the worst part. I felt the stuff with Dudley and his parents just was filmed badly. Plus, the "in formation" part at the beginning of the movie was plain stupid.

That said, again, I give the film a solid B. The crowd seemed to love it; but, I also felt like they really wanted to cheer just because they felt like they should. I'm interested how you guys feel, so please let me know. (Just don't ruin it for those who haven't seen it yet.)

I finished Order of the Phoenix last week and will be seeing the Movie Friday (the first of my Anniversary weekend). I honestly think the book is one of my least favorate of the series so far, so I'm not going into the movie with high hopes. I'm hoping to be surprised.

And as for the Anniversary Weekend. My wife and I are going to Louisville Kentucky to watch Harry Potter, see the Police Reunion concert, go to some museum that's having a special Dragon exhibit, and maybe go to the creation Museum on the way home. I'm looking forward to it. After a horrible week last week (ending with my dog dying on Sunday) I am really needing this little vacation. I can't wait.

Yeah, it was rough. She was acting a little sick all weekend. Then sunday night I looked out the window and he was laying in the middle of the yard and it just didn't seem right. I went out to sit with her and realized she was breathing real hard. I had a feeling he wasn't going to make it and so I just started petting her and telling her that it's alright. She died about 5 minutes later. My wife, little sister, and I cried our eyes out. Fortunately, my brother stepped up and took the dog to his new house to bury it for me. It took me a day or so to "get over it". She was my buddy.

Yeah, it's hard when you lose a pet. They are such a part of your life that you mourn just as you would a person you know. The best part is you gave your pet a wonderful life and the love of a family.

My condolences, JH. I hope things get better and you have a great vacation which it sounds you sorely need.

By the way guys, I am leaving in about 30 minutes for a meting and then i am off to Prague for the weekend and therefore it is not likely I will see anything on the net until next Monday.

I hope voting will be kept open.

Finally found some time to get some more stuff up. What a week.

Wow, tough battles, even my own. I can see why either character in all these matches might be able to advance. I really applaud Black Panther making it so far this season. I don't think anyone picked him up last year, and he was eliminated in the first round. I would even suspect he didn't go that high up everyone's lists this season.
