Official Halo Thread

I'm loving the atmosphere in some of those illustrations. Hopefully that translates over to the game.
 
....Is it weird that I think it about half looks like Garrus from Mass Effect...? Just looking at the artwork I'm pumped to play this.. and I can't wait to see these translated into Multiplayer.

I'm SO tired of everything in Reach being stupid Forge World maps where everything looks exactly the same. Please give me amazing looking maps.
 
Here's my take on the whole armor abilities thing:

1) Jet packs should only be limited to levels where it's an absolute necessity, like Sword Base, which is three levels high. It shouldn't even be an option for smaller levels. It's just a waste of an armor ability and doesn't really get you anywhere.

2) Camo can be used for regular matches, but should mainly be relegated to gametypes like Assault and Capture the Flag, which require stealth.

3) I agree that Armor Lock should not be used in regular matches. Unless it's a really large map, which requires vehicles for you to use it against, or a gametype like Assault or Capture the Flag, which requires you to defend your base, it shouldn't even have a place in any other matches. It only serves as a hindrance.

4) Hologram can be a really useful armor ability if used really well. I've seen videos of players that have used this ability in ways that I probably would never have thought of.

See, my problem with Hologram isn't even because of hologram.. it just feels like to me that MANY of the maps limit it. Maybe I'm just not creative enough but I'd LOVE to use hologram on a Narrows like map... but we don't really have that. Hologram on ValHalla would also be excellent... but again, we don't have a map like that.
 
I'm hoping the awful multiplayer maps in Reach was just Bungie not giving a **** anymore, since they were turning the series over to 343 anyway.

Forgeworld is fine for Customs Playlists, but keep it out of matchmaking plz.

Yeah that was pretty much confirmed when they admitted to creating The Cage in a week so all of the maps wouldn't be campaign/remakes.

Agreed! Forgeworld needs to be a custom playlist ONLY! Match making needs to be stage maps/remakes/dlc.
 
The maps on Reach were the most disappointing. They all look the same and that look is bland

Why change it,i like the challenge of armor lock the way it is.

Go ahead and try it. I guarantee you will either play on Sword Base or The Cage nine times out of ten. Occasionally, you'll get to play on Boardwalk. And if you're really lucky, you might even get to play on Countdown once a night. But no. In large, Sword Base and The Cage have a monopoly on The Living Dead. And if they're not one of the three initial choices, you'd better bet your ass that people will veto. And of course, they'll both pop up in the second round of voting.

Granted, Sword Base isn't a Forge map, but once you play on that map over and over and over and over and over again, it gets old real fast. As for The Cage, no words can fully capture the awfulness of that map.

Freddy Kruger has nightmares about The Cage. That is how bad it is. Although in saying that, I did get a perfection on team snipers on that map.
 
As far as the Zombies playlist is concerned, Sword Base is a one-note song. All the humans rush into that red tunnel area - making it impossible for a zombie to kill anyone unless they all rush in together.

Of course, the zombies don't do that. They'll go in one at a time. Strategizing is not their strong suit.
 
So I'm assuming we won't get another Halo 4 trailer until next year's E3?
 
Never know... maybe we'll get something new with the Anniversary?

Those are some godly abilities there. I'm really curious to see what the story is going to be for Halo 4.
 
Whoa, I JUST told my friends last night that I wouldn't be shocked if MC got some form of telepathy through forerunner technology...
 
Halo 4 not looking so hot...

Ryan Payton has left 343 Industries - the team responsible Halo 4 - saying the game had become a "crazy endeavour".

Payton, who worked on Metal Gear Solid 4, was tasked with developing the game's story and overseeing the creative team who were planning the next trilogy of Halo games.

Speaking to Kotaku, Payton said, "I had a great run at Microsoft. I don't regret one day of it. But after a few years, there came a point where I wasn't creatively excited about the project anymore."

But he took pain to stress that it wasn't because the game was turning out badly. It was simply not in line with his original vision. "The Halo I wanted to build was fundamentally different and I don't think I had built enough credibility to see such a crazy endeavor through.

"I think time is the most valuable thing we have," said Payton, "and I've decided that I'm not going to waste one more day working on something that doesn't speak to my values."

He's creative director. If they can't make his vision come to life, he has every right to leave, and he should! His job is wasted otherwise.
 
so the creative director isn't in control of the creative direction the game goes in? he shouldn't be leaving... he should be fired.....
