Official Halo Thread

I know they make free maps seems like all the time, but Is there gonna be a DLC for Halo Reach?

Hey, guys, look up Harry Potter vs. Halo on YouTube. It's hilarious. :woot:

I played Alpha Zombies on The Cage last night, and for the life of me I was a second away from a Killionaire. The damn clock ran out right before I could kill the tenth zombie.

I'm so sad :csad:.

343 Studios is now taking over. Big and amazingly awesome changes are coming to the multiplayer. The title update will balance several of the suit abilities, changing Armor Lock's damage absorption to be based on the amount of energy a player has remaining. It will also shorten the duration of Active Camo and allow for configurable reticle bloom. Also the Halo CE Magnum is coming back. The update is coming out in Oct. sometime. Also the Halo 4 Warthog is beautiful in Forza 4 http://kotaku.com/5834652/the-halo-4-warthog-will-debut-in-forza-4-but-you-cant-drive-it

I really hope that update re-adds Stockpile back to regular playlists. I have two achievements left (The new Invasion one & the unboostable stockpile one), it's pretty hard to get one of them since the damn gametype doesn't even pop even more. The closest thing that pops up is Speedpile & I don't even think that counts for the achievement.

Glad the armor lock cry babies got their way. Now do something about the jet pack *****es. :p

I actually think they've totally underpowered Armor lock now. So it takes less damage, doesn't last as long and doesn't block plasma grenades? What's the bloody point? When you're getting shot, Armor lock traditionally was JUST long enough that, if you were lucky, you could recharge your shields but most of the time, any guy waiting for you to get out of armor lock would just easily kill you. Why meddle with the formula to such a degree?

Because people whined about their stickies getting bumped off and complained about ANYONE using armor lock being a noob all because they can't get around it.

Armor Lock is now, like you said, is now pointless.

Great. I don't really care anyway, they've already screwed a lot of that game up. I used to love Armor lock, and I don't care what anyone says, it was balanced as hell. Sure you could block plasmas, but all it took was a little patience and then you get a free kill the moment someone exits armor lock.

Then they freaking took it out of a bunch of the big team playlists, completely invalidating it's anti-vehicle quality, now this?

Look's like it's just sprint for me then.

As long as armour lock damage doesn't apply to vehicles I'm cool with the change. As an anti-vehicle ability it's perfect, but on maps where there are no vehicles it just stalls the game.

Where did you read that part? 'Cause I didn't see that in the Kotaku article.

How does armor lock stall a game? POP in, POP out and take down a dudes shield... Kill for me.

At this point they just need to take everything out minus Sprint. Jet Packs are annoying as all hell, camo is pointless unless you're camped, armor lock is extremely nerfed and hologram is barely used.

I think they're fine. The only thing I would have changed about armour lock is being able to go in and out, and using it to get a sticky off of you (not getting stuck while in armour lock makes sense, cause it should just slide off, but if you're already stuck, it should stall the blast of the grenade until you get out).

Are you telling me you've never come across someone who went into AL, then waited until it was completely out so they can throw a hopeless grenade before finally getting killed? hahah yeah, the people who know how to use it properly (shield from grenades/counter vehicles/beat downs) I don't have a problem with, it's the folks who lock down and make errrybody wait 10 seconds. Time being relative and all that's an eternity!

But yeah, I think a good fix for the jetpack would be to have bloom completely spread whenever it's in use so you can't shoot accurately. And hologram is pretty funny when the whole team uses it. :awesome: The camo isn't useless though, I use it for the radar jammer more than invisibility.

Well, the guys that go in it for it's entire span are easy to kill. Have one guy in front of them and a guy a few inches back ready for the beat down/assassination.

Jet packs do need full bloom. I agree. It seriously has ZERO draw back.

If they nerf Armor Lock they need to put them back in big team. I always say how stupid it is to have a big team game with vehicular combat and have NO armor lock? That's extremely lame. Nothing is more satisfying then when a Banshee comes in "fast and low" to splatter you and you armor lock to take 'em out.

Here's my take on the whole armor abilities thing:

1) Jet packs should only be limited to levels where it's an absolute necessity, like Sword Base, which is three levels high. It shouldn't even be an option for smaller levels. It's just a waste of an armor ability and doesn't really get you anywhere.

2) Camo can be used for regular matches, but should mainly be relegated to gametypes like Assault and Capture the Flag, which require stealth.

3) I agree that Armor Lock should not be used in regular matches. Unless it's a really large map, which requires vehicles for you to use it against, or a gametype like Assault or Capture the Flag, which requires you to defend your base, it shouldn't even have a place in any other matches. It only serves as a hindrance.

4) Hologram can be a really useful armor ability if used really well. I've seen videos of players that have used this ability in ways that I probably would never have thought of.
