Why didn't they add this to the game yet?! :argh:

The simple fact that you could easily just blow through the game with an extensive arsenal. Stealth gameplay was no longer a necessity. It was an option. That annoyed me.

And a couple of other gameplay mechanics (such as the "over-the-shoulder" view) felt more akin to current-gen western games then what I've come to expect from this franchise.

I don't know. It just played more like Gears of War than MGS to me.

And don't even get me started on the story .

So, because they didn't brutally murder you for not being stealthy...that was a problem?

I mean, you could still ghost entire sections, the entire game really aside from the action set pieces. All they did was make the gunfighting competent enough for people who aren't ninjas like us...to not get left out and finish the game. There were enough rewards, and reasons to still play stealthy that made it a very worthwhile endeavor.

I don't really see where 'Gears of War' comes into play. Gears is all about taking cover, and is pretty visceral in how the gunfights play out. They're so different, even when you get down to the actual over-the-shoulder shooting.

The story was great. It did the impossible.

Made Sons of Liberty make sense.

MGS2 was a masterpiece goddamnit .

MGS1, MGS3, and MGS4 are better though.

Okay, so I decided to get back into Halo. I've played and replayed Combat Evolved a ton of times, but missed out on every other one.

So, I went ahead and bought near-everything Halo on consoles. Got Halo 2, Halo 3, and Halo 3:ODST. I've already got Halo Reach, got it as a gift brand new from someone. Never even played Reach, and probably won't until I play through the others first.

Halo 2 was actually the harder game to track down, and cost me more to get since I got it new. So, I'm playing through it now. The upscale on the 360 is pretty good. I'm liking the game, and the story. Although I'm not really feeling the switch up (...don't even want to bring up MGS2 again here) from Master Chief to the Arbiter.

But, it is interesting the see the other side of things and how The Covenant is doing internally and semi-politically with it's Holy War.

Looking forward to getting on the current-gen stuff, and jumping into multiplayer...and getting my ass handed to me. Should be fun.

I did the same. After watching one clip of Red vs Blue too many, I got back into a real Halo mood. Actually bought the limited Edition Reach console, packed with Reach of course. Then I bought Halo 3 and ODST. Wasn't sure about that Strategy game but the Halo remake is already on my list. I hope they'll remake Halo 2 as well, so that I can have all games on the 360.

They probably will remake Halo 2. I'll have to pre-order Anniversary.

And I think I'll pick up Halo Wars. I could get into an RTS.

Ah, screw it. I just ordered Halo Wars. Next the remake of Halo and hopefully the remake of Halo 2 will come after that.

You can pretty much bet that they'll be remaking Halo 2. Halo Wars isn't bad at all, I hate RTS games but enjoyed that.

Probably because it's Halo. :p

I always figured whatever vitriol I remember Halo Wars getting was from people who only play FPS'. RTS games are an acquired taste.

And yeah...seems like a given to me that they'll update and 'HD-ify' Halo 2 as well.

So, I'm trying to play Halo Reach for the first time on Legendary. Good lord... It's a good thing that my squad can't die. If they could, they wouldn't endure the first 30 seconds of any firefight.

Did you call me?

Having recently played through ODST and again Reach, I'm surprised that I actually still like Halo so much. Because this franchise easily has some of the most irritating, annoying and frustrating enemy types that I've ever encountered in a game. They are almost right up there with the enemies from Uncharted 1. ****ing, head-bopping bastards. :cmad: Plus those goddamn shields that require you to waste an entire clip or two, with enemies that run up on you with 1 hit kill weapons. :argh:

Just wait until you get to the last level on Legendary.

I beat the Campaign on Legendary, but there was a glitch or something and now the game does't give me credit for doing it. Thankfully I still have the Achievement to prove it.

I stopped with Legendary, started again on Heroic. This entire endeavor would be so much easier with a co-op partner. At least then I could properly flank enemies or have someone competent at the turret while I drive.

Plasma pistol + DMR will get you through just about anything. Especially the zealots at the end.

The end of Exodus was crazy though. I had to press the button to end the level, but the AI on both sides wouldn't do anything. If the brutes didn't see me they didn't do anything even though there were like a dozen USMC troops standing around hahah it was weird.

I never did Reach solo on Legendary. It's too goddamn hard. I did it on Co-Op though

It's not all that hard if you have a good strategy. Plasma Pistol+DMR for Elites and any ranged weapon for Brutes (3-4 shots to the head'll do it).

But it was still extremely frustrating at times. I literally ran around picking up dropped enemy weapons for an hour on the last mission where you have to fight off waves of enemies until the ship comes. It wasn't until after I finished the game that I learned about the secret box of DMRs.

[sigh] It would've made my life so much easier.

Once you die a certain amount of times, you know where all the enemies are, and you can strategize accordingly. Get used to the Plasma Pistol / Pistol combo.

Solo Legendary is incredibly time-consuming, but possible nonetheless.

I did it solo right after I beat it on Normal... I decided to tackle it and get it out of the way. Fairly hard at times... but a worthwhile achievement.

I've kinda learned after playing some other games on the hardest difficulties, to almost become a masochist in getting my ass kicked time and time again until finally achieving success.

I wonder if maybe most other games just feel easier nowadays, that I dig the challenge.

Holy crap, I never knew about that before! :wow:

It would have made my first run through a whole lot easier.

I didn't know about that either.

Oh well. At least I can say that I beat that level without it :awesome::up:.

I cheated. :csad: I used some guy from HBO's guide to beating Legendary solo.

I had my brother do a couple of points..... then direct me durin the final moments
