Days of Future Past Official Jason Flemyng cast as Azazel Thread

From the trailers it looks like Azazel is gonna be one of the favourites... He looks badass.

Do you think because of this theyll bring him back in the comics, but make this character more interesting like the film?

Beast and Mystique were my big ones. As a Nightcrawler fan, I was looking forward to Azazel, but now I'm really psyched. Banshee, who I was never a fan of, is on my list now, too. And Shaw! Man, everyone's looking spectacular.

Seeing screencaps of him in full costume and flying is a real gift for the comic fans.

It will be the most comicbookie movie of the whole franchise, I think.

It's obvious how badass everyone knew Nightcrawler was gonna be in X2 and they've been showing only bits and pieces of what is obviously gonna be an exciting fight scene with Azazel. I can't wait to see the whole thing..

I hope am not the only that found Azazel to be badass, he's one of the scariest comicbook villains ever. The way he dropped people from the sky was so disturbing and he took on Beast and Havok at the same time, He makes Nightcrawler look like nerd. Am pretty sure he could have taken on Magneto and won too. What do you guys think

He's super bad ass
Agreed. The most relentless, skillful cold blooded killer in all of comic movies... Easy. The raining men seen was wickedly disturbing

Magenta would wipe the floor with him.
None if his tricks would work.
Magneto can fly so that raining man trick won't work. All Magneto would have to do is pierce azazel with his own sword

He was definitely a good visual character. I loved the coloring job they did on his skin and the weapons he used. BTW, what accent was Flemyng using? Latin?

I loved it that in the comics, Magneto could sense where Nightcrawler was teleporting to because the teleportation caused disruption along the earth's magnetic lines of force. So he clobbered him with metal at the destination point which he could already detect before Kurt materialised.

I'd like to see that in the films. But since Azazel is on Magneto's side, then it's unlikely. it just seemed an uber-cool use of Magneto's powers.

I thought maybe that was it, since when the missile was coming at him he said "nyet". Haha I thought maybe Azazel was being facetious, since he was on a Russian ship.

I wonder why they went with that portrayal. Latin (like old school Latin) or maybe German would have made more sense.

I thought he was awesome and done very well. Him dropping the agents from the sky was one of the best scenes in a flick I've seen. However I have to say it was a cheap cop out on Fox's part and not very creative. They just basically found a way to reuse Nightcrawler because his attack on the Whitehouse was a fan favorite and very memorable scene. I wondered why he was in the film and it didn't seem to make since until I saw the movie. I mean they ignored real actual Inner Circle members to put him in.

Well, it was probably partly trying to re-create the Nightcrawler effect.

But he also...

1) provides a useful means of transportation

2) ties in thematically to the Hellfire Club because of the fiery teleporting and devilish look

3) provides an evil 'creature mutant' counterpart to Beast, just as Angel provided a flying mutant counterpart to Banshee.

I think you have to look a bit beyond the 'wahhhhh, it's not the same as in the comics.'
