but the other poster made a good point about this complaint being similar to complaining about superman flying--that's just a part of their characters. which DOES make it pretty wild when promethius out techniques batman, or superman gets roughed up by doomsday.

It's all about within reason since he is human. The two examples are not comparable. Being the badass that he is doesn't mean he should be able to do anything because it comes across as being badass.

He doesn't have to be dumb to be outsmarted by one of the greatest strategists in the world.

In all honestly, I do hope this fight is surprising. I wouldnt mind Batman taking the loss, as first of all it makes perfect sense. But also, Superman needs to be built up as much as possible.

People will lose their mind when Hal Jordan sucker punches Batman, but let Batman take off Hal's ring without him knowing and it's perfectly understandable.

.....People lost their minds over Bats getting sucker punched for the same reason they loved Bats jacking Hals ring.

Bruce Wayne is a ninja badass and a tactical genius. It makes some sense that he could take the ring off hal....and no sense that a guy like hal, who has little hand to hand combat training (that we know of), could knock Bruce on his ass with one punch.

Not to mention the lame fact that Johns purposely set up Batman to look like a punk all throughout rebirth just to make hal look awesome.

Bruce Wayne is a ninja badass and a tactical genius. It makes some sense that he could take the ring off hal....and no sense that a guy like hal, who has little hand to hand combat training (that we know of), could knock Bruce on his ass with one punch.

Not to mention the lame fact that Johns purposely set up Batman to look like a punk all throughout rebirth just to make hal look awesome.

I think it's perfectly acceptable to have Hal be made to look awesome in his own comeback book. And also, let's not forget the Green Lantern/Batman teamup from early in the Green Lantern run, where Batman got his revenge by punching out Hal.

Hahaha, one of my favorite Shortpacked strips. I love the Batman Inc issue (#3, I think), that pretty much made this canon by suggesting Batman had spent time mastering dance techniques around the world while learning martial arts.

LMAO but hey at least he won't be taking the "Greatest Boyfriend" crown anytime soon.

I'm as big a Bat fan as you'd find on these boards but if they make Supes job to him once more at some point during this arc I'll probably have a brain aneurysm. "Batman beats Superman" is still too implausible a concept for me to ever accept even after 23 yrs. of reading DC comics.

I love how when you bring up how guys like Joker and Two Face have done the same thing they come with some bulls**t like "The Joker is too unpredictable!" or "Two Face is a skilled brawler." Whatever man. I don't care how skilled you are, you can still get knocked on your ass by a well placed sucker punch.


Also, Batman is not the best fighter in the DCU. (Unless that got rebooted too. ) He's not even in the top 5.

I generally find it cheap writing when someone needs to make a character look awesome by making another character look like a chump. It was cheap what Johns did to bruce in rebirth, just as it was cheap what frank miller did to Superman in DKR.

And Batman's revenge punch was unsatisfying...mainly because it shouldnt have been necesary in the first place. Also, it just made Batman look like a petty child.
