They did for like 20 years. :csad:

And asides from JLA: Year One, it was awful and convoluted with DC not even knowing if Batman should ever be a part of the League or not and Superman not even being a founding member of the League.

Hey, you know what worked really well? Waid's Justice League: Year One, where all the heroes were emerging around the same time and came together because they had one gung-ho dude (Barry) pull all the others together and convince them that it just made sense to work together. Simple, logical, satisfying, and without a hint of the heroes randomly attacking each other for no apparent reason. There was a name for that back then... What was it...? Oh yeah, good storytelling.

The league seemingly smacking each other around throughout this arc is what bugs me the most

First Superman beats Hal then he's going to beat up Batman and issue four is apparently Aquaman beating up everyone

Shouldn't they be fighting crime or trying to stop Darkseid instead of pimp slapping each other

I really doubt that we're going to see Aquaman fight everyone in issue 4 and a real Superman/Batman and Green Lantern fight in the next issue. Covers don't often really tell what is going on in the story.

The whole point of showing little mini conflicts between the various members is to show just how different the members of the League are, that their philosophies are different, that their power sets are different, and that they really have no reason to get along personally, but in the end, they will band together and pool their resources and strengths to make a positive difference in the world.

The point of showing little mini-conflicts between the various members is to manufacture fights so that 1) Jim Lee has something to do and 2) the lowest common denominator doesn't get bored. It's a very, very old cliché and it comes across as exactly that in today's era of much more sophisticated writing.

so when will we get to see Darkseid??

And more importantly will he still be in his mini skirt

I really hope that issue four won't just be Aquaman beating the league senseless and that the League will be together properly by then too

If the team hasn't even formed by issue four of a six part story I'm going to be nervous. It'll be Cry for Justice all over again

Cry for Justice couldve been Da Shizzy, instead it was made into a bad Shizzy fest. So saddening. I always wonder what DC is thinking or what they are on when they allow things like Cry For Justice and Amazons Attack get made.

No. He's already one of the ultimate tough guys.
AQUAMAN?? whatever! :whatever: Not tougher than Green Lantern!! We can cut the crap on that one....

Not unless he sucker punches him or the ring is outta power.....THAT'S IT.

Or Aquaman could just telepathically take control of the ring and make Hal do a construct of his infamous boxing glove punching himself repeatedly. Granted, this is when they are all starting out so it is possible that Aquaman hasn't realized the connection between marine life and non-marine life and his telepathy yet.

The fact you said "Aquaman" in all capitals in an unbelieving tone I can safely make the assumption that you know nothing about Aquaman outside of stupid jokes inspired by a cartoon from 50 years ago that made everyone look ridiculous.

They were on crack cocaine

Still think drugs are cool? :ninja:

I want an entire comic of just that happening.

Who knows? We might see it. Seems like Hal getting stumped in this opening arc of JL to show how much of a rookie he is compared to the rest of the JL is the motif.

The superstar team of Geoff Johns and Jim Lee continue the origin of the Justice League as The World’s Greatest Heroes face the might of Apokolips – and find aid in an unlikely hero, as Cyborg is created!

Hmm. Nothing about fighting Aquaman fight. Could it be that the cover's not representing exactly what happens in the book!? :oldrazz:

Johns would be smart to continue the trend of Hal getting his butt handed to him, though, in this opening arc at least, taking advantage that Hal is still new and cocky. Kyle fans might finally start to feel some sort of reparation. Though at least it's not as bad as the whole Barry and Wally deal.

Am i the only one that's liking how the story arc is being handled right now?

I love how kyle fans need to feel repiration when it was Hal who was unceremoniously ousted from the role by Kyle in the first place.....AND Kyle still has a role in the GL mythos today.

Sorry, but **** Kyle fans if they're the least bit pissy about whats happened the past few years, lol. The only people that deserve sympathy right now are Wally fans.

I'm liking it, just when you compare it to the rest of the titles of the relaunch, JL falls under my category of "Good read" and not "Loved it". For its purpose in being what they want it to be, is where it falls flat.

I'm not a fan of either, tbh, in terms of favor to one over the other. I like Kyle, Hal, and Guy equally. It's Stewart that I don't care for.

I'm more optimistic now it sounds like the issue wont just be the JLA beating up each other

I only liked Stewart on the GL cartoon. Comic book John is generic token black guy, which is a shame.

Yeah, Johns has said repeatedly that the arc is about how the characters interact with each other.

Basically, this is Geoff's attempt at being Brian Michael Bendis
