Official Man of Steel Trailer(s) Thread - Part 6

just in the little bit of the score he has created something heroic, triumphant, uplifting but also added energy and power to it with those drums

i love it

Count me in among those who love what we've heard from Zimmer so far. He completely surpassed my expectations and we haven't even heard the full theme yet! The soundscape that he created with the drums and pedal steel guitars and the rest, ugh, brilliant!

That depends on your definition of "majority". :cwink:

I agree on the score. I love it too!

It is absolutely Superman without a hint of homage to or plagiarism from (depending on how you look at it) the iconic John Williams score.

I didn't think anyone could create a Superman theme to stand toe to toe with John Williams', but damn if Zimmer doesn't give it a run for it's money!

And just so I wasn't clear enough before, I LOVE IT!

I dunno, the first time I saw that trailer I kinda heard the Williams theme when Clark rushed to hold the steel beams on the burning oil rig. Don't know if it was a homage or if Zimmer, when coming up with his Superman sound, just ended up creating a sound that is reminiscent of Williams' theme...but either way I thought it was AWESOME that I was able to hear something that was reminiscent of Williams' theme without feeling like a ripoff. I know the REST of the score doesn't sound like Williams' theme and I would honestly be disappointed if it did....but that little instance, at least to me, does.....and that's not such a bad thing.

That first 1 to 5 note is hard to avoid associating with that....but it's used in a lot of things, and even a lot of Williams music like the first notes in his Star Wars theme and E.T. theme....heck, I think even Jurassic Park. The first bar of it is actually quite similar to the Tron Legacy theme.

Me too too too too! Love it! :hrt:

if you watch the trailer without sound, it really does feel a bit less epic.

the score really does add to the mood, tone, and overall awesomeness of the trailer.

I especially like the simple piano tune that plays during the opening shots of Krypton.

and then the way the music gradually builds throughout the trailer and becomes more heroic.

Zimmers music to this film sounds so awesome!!
I'm so madly and crazy in love with those drums which so aggressively kicks in right at the 2:08 to 2:10 mark in the trailer! It just sounds so freaken energetic and uplifting! It just SCREAMS: "You better watch out ****ers! Superman is coming back and he's here to stay!!!"... Love it.

Actually, the whole trailer screams that!! :woot:

I was going to watch the movie multiple times anyway, but looks like one of those viewings is going to be to just concentrate on the score!

:)

Saw a couple people post photos of the Man of Steel trailer from their "big screens."

I am going to play the trailer via my Epson 8100 1080p projector (150 inches) tonight and post up some photos.

LOL

Did I imagine reading something about Clark trying to control his temper?

is the trailer playing at theatres, and if so, someone should record the audience reaction and put it on youtube.

Love watching reactions to MOS

Did I imagine reading something about Clark trying to control his temper?

I think I remember reading something back in the EW article on how there would be times within the film where even the subtle Clark would give a regular bad person the treatment that they deserved after holding in his frustration for so long, or something to that effect. For some reason, when I read that, I immediately thought about that scene from "The Incredibles" where Mr. Incredible threw his bad boss through several walls after his nagging prevented him from stopping a mugger.

yeah audience reactions to this stuff are always great .
anyone remember the dark knight rises trailer bootleg where, after the applause, a guy shouts "THANK YOU NOLAN" and then gets a huge LOL from the audience ? :D

that was so cool
