Wish he would smile or show some kind of personality besides angst.

Am curious how Superman will be in this regard- thinking of Christopher Reeve making some humorous comments as Superman, not as a comedian, but he was personable and charismatic. This version will probably not go as far as Reeve's did but he should have some moments of levity.

So far, I can't really get the impression that this version of Superman has ever really had something to be happy about throughout his life. Seems like the burden of having to keep his powers a secret from everyone while wondering who and what the hell he is, let alone where he's come from has taken a toll on him.

Watched the trailer several times now, and it just keeps getting better every single time!

Is it June 14 2013 yet? ;)

Hell, it would have been released by now (I think) had it stayed with its original release date.lol

The trailer definitely gave me the impression that this film is larger in scale than I had previously imagined, especially with the shots of people running for their lives as Metropolis was being teared apart. I definitely got a "disaster movie" feeling from certain shots.

Two thumps Up!!!

Not necessarily the best trailer in the world, but this is the right trailer for re-introducing Superman. I'm not bothered by the lack of Reeve-like camp,...I get a Stephen Spielberg type ET/District 9 vibe from this franchise.

Listening to Kevin Costner answer "maybe." sent a chill down my spine...

We can finally get that Superman Returns taste out of our mouth.

I'm not bothered by a lack of levity either. I watched the Reeve films again recently and whilst I still love them, some of the campy humour really doesn't hold up well nowadays. If this MOS is really aiming for a more gritty and realistic approach to the subject of a superpowered alien living amongst us on Earth, we can't expect it to have too much humour or take a very light-hearted approach like STM did. I'd love it if they really went with a more sci-fi approach (like SentinelMind said above) like we got with District 9 and the like.

In saying that, there's nothing wrong with a little humour. TDKR was a fairly dark film but still had some moments which raised a smile. The balance just has to be right so that the tone of the film is consistent throughout.

really?
frankly speaking, i think Singer's SR 1st trailer is way better. it's a marvelous execution in building the excitement… u see the star space space, the kent mailbox, silhouette of superman with the spit curl, the daily planet globe and the building lot shot then u see superman hovering above the sky… calm and peaceful, slowly closing up… snap open his eyes and burst into action… it was so freaking exciting! so poetic, beautiful and emotional.

Here I see glimpse of the trouble he might be facing… I don’t know it doesn’t have proper execution… doesn’t feel the excitement is building up… and there isn’t a proper shot on him too.

it's flat to me. :(

The SR trailers fell back on nostalgia...with exception of one decent international trailer, nothing in SR trailers excited.

This trailer is stepping out on its own two feet at the right pace...no overload of unnecessary explosions...just Clark and magnitude of being a 'god' among men.

Ah...Pa Kent wanted Superman to let a busload of kids die rather than reveal his identity.

That kind of sucks. Hopefully this isn't too po faced.

I like the look of Cavill in the costume though.

We don't know if the conversation plays exactly like that....we know how trailers are...

...but if does imply that....wow.....just wow....in a intriguing way...:yay:

I'm not sure if it's just me, but the trailer at times really makes MOS come off as an "Even" film as well, one that should not be missed, or rather, it doesn't come off saying as though it's just another comic book genre film.

Okay thoughts on Trailer.

I simply found it okay.Parts due to overwatching the comiccon trailer and partly due to the lack of actual action.
Sure the movie hints at action but it doesnt actually show it.
I felt a physical superman shld have been the main selling piont of this trailer-a superman who actually throws a punch so as to wash the taste of SR off our mouths.I hope the rumour of a different trailer being attached to the hobbit is true-hopefully one with Superman doing Physical ****

ThIS trailer was mostly saved by the emotion it contains.Loved the kent scenes(Jonathan kents line comes off better here),somber music(vastly prefer comicon music though). The suit colors and cape look fanatstic but I wonder why we still havent got a full body shot of how the suit looks in the movie.
It looks like the kents are wonderfully potrayed in this movie and that leaves only Cavills acting as my concern.Loved the Clark on fire shot

Effects look like they need more polishing(might explain the lack of fight scenes).I still prefer the comicon trailer though it just seemed more epic.

Overall a good trailer but I expect Pacific Rim trailer to steal its thunder

I really love he line about the world being too small and Clark needing to make it smaller. Spitballing here, but I feel like it's referring to the idea that even though the world is more connected than ever today, we are still very much fractured global society. However, it will be Superman that brings us together -- makes are distances smaller.

I wonder if it will serve as a "Why do we fall, Bruce?" moment.

We know that (SPOILER)

[BLACKOUT]Jonathan Kent dies, it seems, pretty early on. And Clark talks about - in the past tense- his father's belief that the world would reject Clark out of fear. So Jonathan may die with that belief. But then Jonathan may die and that guilt may weigh on Clark because he didn't help him in time. [/BLACKOUT]

So Jonathan might have this strong stance against Clark revealing himself to the world, and that is what Clark considers as he becomes Superman.

[BLACKOUT]But Jonathan's death may be a big part of the reason Clark becomes Superman.[/BLACKOUT]

Ya. Perhaps that SR trailer tells nothing about SR storyline... just superman in general... thats why its so exciting n inspiring...

I dont know... this trailer is just too heavy for me to take for a superman film. just dont feel the fun n happiness... it isnt good.

Wow...after viewing this trailer multiple times, all I can say is GO DC!!!! This approach of making their heroes live in a darker yet richer (in tone and emotional weight) universe gives a stronger sense of 'reality' to otherwise fictional characters.

Yes its true that the trailer did not deliver in the action department as we all would have loved to have seen, however it provided an awe-inspiring view of the Man of Steel that finally gives him more depth and respect in a movieverse film.

Btw...does any one have a link to where I can download the trailer for WMP format?

:doh:do people really think a film needs to be light hearted and have comedy to be fun?

if all you think of superman is fun and happiness you dont get the character at all

he is a very complex character with tons of depth that many people even comic writers dont get

I understand your dislike bc that's how you feel but... Where was the fun and happiness in SR? That trailer was good back then but it showed nothing that was fun or happy. Unless you mean the airplane save which was the best part of the movie. The movie itself wasn't fun or happy. If you're saying from the trailer you think that the movie will be lacking that doesn't make sense using your reference of SR. It's trailer gave a false impression of the movie bc no one thought that the airplane scene was the going to be the only worthwhile save in the film. When I saw that trailer I thought the movie was going to be full of great scenes like that. I just want to understand what you want to see specifically that you could "take for a superman film".

wait.......there's going to be a different trailer attached with the Hobbit??

Even film or event film?

Both make sense to me so it's hard to see what you meant.

The world could be dark n merciless, but superman himself shouldnt be depressing n looks burdened. Because he understnds n see beyond.

What did he mean by that? How could he justify letting those school kids drown?

Aren't the Kents supposed to be the moral center for Superman? Or does this version show a more realistically flawed Kents?
