Official New Avengers Discussion Thread!

Ironically I think Dark Avengers is the only good Avengers title. The other two have been pretty boring and uninteresting

I think DA has been great, but without Dark Reign it's pointless. NA has been so-so. Out of all of them Mighty Avengers is the best one creatively.

yeah without Dark Reign, they kinda seem like just another team of Thunderbolts. I cant really see the team lasting, but I hope the characters dont necesarily go away, well really Moonstone who has been the star for me.

Holy Crap! Gambit!!
How sad am I that when I saw this I thought you meant the real one and couldn't help but wonder what my top fave was doing in this thread? :( :p

That would be more like a "wtf is Gambit doing with the Avengers?" sort of reaction.

I think I am offcially dropping this. I may skim through issue 60 in the store but NA we are done professionally. I doubt you will be around much after Dark Reign anyway. I feel as though once this Siege stuff is done we will return to some sense of normalcy. Thanks to Corp I have gradually become a fan of Mighty Avengers and started to explore some characters I don't know all that well. Plus it's the closest I can get to seeing some of the Young Avengers since Marvel won't pull that comic out of Heinberg's ass and let someone else right it. Don't even get me started on the guy they are calling Spider-man in that book. Somewhere off panel he had to have been switched out for another Spider-man who is an idiot and can only spew piss poor jokes out of his mouth and never really does anything worthwhile.....

So are you officially back to b***h and moan about the goings on of nerds and costumed do gooders? Or is this just a pop in? Cuz I gotta say, we could use some 40 line sonnets about how Bendis is raping the Marvel Universe these days. Most everybody else has ceased to give a s**t anymore and just focus on the stuff that's good.

Comics like Captain America,Thor,Guardians of the Galaxy,Nova,Mighty Avengers,Secret Warriors,Avengers Initiative,Incredible Hercules? :cwink:

Why yes my good man. All those books are indeed an island of awesome in a sea of meh.

I suppose I deserve that.

I guess that's the kind of reception a guy gets after taking 2 years off... :csad:
I'd be happy to have you stick around, even if it's just so I can moon over your avatar. :p

You could say without Civil War the New Avengers are basically the Marvel Knights under a different appellation, yet somehow Bendis kept them around.

New Avengers existed before Civil War so I dont think the comparison is quite the same. Like the team didnt come out of that event in the same way the Dark Avengers came out of Secret Invasion/Dark Reign

That's true, but Civil War redefined the team completely and hasn't changed from it's Marvel Knights status since the event and it's aftermath ended. I can see DA lasting past Dark Reign's end is all I'm saying.

Oh okay, I get what you're saying and thats pretty much when things started to go downhill for me. The Dark Avengers however are built around Norman's reign. I cant see them staying together without him. If they do, then they will seem like just another team of Thunderbolts

what scares me is Bendis is a consultant on the Avengers movie

I doubt that matters much. He and Joe Q are consulting on Thor as well, but as far as I've heard, Kenneth Branagh is still making the Thor movie he wanted to make.

see what happens when Hawkeye is written out of the script in favor of Spider-woman

Or he's dropped in favor of Michael Clarke Duncan as Luke Cage.

Or he dies falling down an open manhole yelling "NOT LIKE THIS!"

He chokes to death while in the middle of a slo mo dramatic bow draw on his bow string

I must say, I am very encouraged by the last panel of the latest ish! :woot:
