*btw who was the guy in end credit scene?

Apocalypse

I gave it an 8 on the poll. I really liked it but there were some missed opportunities and although I really like the drama in these films, it was missing a bit of the comic book fun from First Class. I don't care how many people say this but yes Singer did have involvement with FC, but looking at DoFP and his previous films, FC was Mainly Vaughn as far as I'm concerned.

Came out of my second showing a bit ago. I think I can now muster up some words.

I saw X2 when I was a kid. I had no expectations other than loving the first film, and getting into X-Men as characters because of it (and TAS). So it took me completely by surprise when X2 ended up blowing my mind and changing my life. The feeling I had walking out of X2 is the same feeling I assume kids in the 70s and 80s felt after STAR WARS. It ended up being the first film I ever saw a second time in theaters.

I've been waiting 11 years to get that feeling back. I've come pretty close many times with films like TDK and The Avengers. But never that straight up bliss I felt after X2.

Well, after 11 years I've finally gotten that feeling back. X-Men: Days of Future Past is the film I've been waiting a decade for. From the moment the film starts and we hear Xavier speak, my heart rises to my throat. The opening titles sequence and the cerebro doors just take it over the edge for me.

The film itself is one of the best CBMs I've ever seen. Right up there with X2, TDK and The Avengers. The characters are all there. The performances are all there. The dynamics are all there. Add in an iconic storyline, brilliant music by John Ottman, and gorgeous photography by Newton Thomas Sigel, and a stellar experience is to be had.

I think this is the best ensemble we've had to date, with every character serving a purpose and getting their moment to shine. But one stands out and that is James McAvoy. The emotion, the pathos, the pain: everything is laid out on screen. Upon my second viewing I found myself in tears almost every time he was on screen. A truly heart wrenching and phenomenal performance. It's up there with the likes of Heath Legder. Bravo.

I just love everything about this film. I can't wait to see it again and again. I also can't wait for what the "future" of this franchise holds.

En Sabah Nur.

10/10

Ok so I just saw it. When I went to see it, the showing I wanted to see it at was sold out. The closest showing was 20 minutes after the showing I wanted to see and in 3D so I did that.

Let me begin by saying, I've never been a huge fan of the series. I love the X-Men but the films have been meh. I though X-Men 1 was ok. I don't remember X2 but saw it last night and it was good. X3 isn't bad but that's because Beast is my favorite and Kelsey was Beast and he was awesome. I thought Origins Wolverine was ok until that thing called Deadpool showed up. I thought First Class was boring and just ok. Love young Magneto's storyline in it. I thought the Wolverine was good but there was too much Jean and the third act was meh.

Some of the actors for this series are great. Hugh as Wolverine, Patrick as Xavier, Kelsey as Beast, Ian as Magneto, Famke as Jean, James as Cyclops, Ellen as Kitty, and Shawn as Iceman are probably my favorites from the old films. I do like that red head in the Wolverine and also Liev's Sabretooth. I like Fassbender as Magneto, Jen as Mystique, James as Xavier. I am kind of mixed about Nick's Beast from First Class and I felt Berry's Storm was ok but could have been better.

With this film being based off DOFP, I was concerned with some of the changes but was ok with some like sending Wolverine back. I was concerned with Singer as director because he's never blew me away before. Non sexual. I felt this film could be great or terrible. I thought Cap 2 would be good and it was good, TASM2 would be bad and was bad, I couldn't get a reading on this film.

So I come to say, I was wrong.

This movie was beautiful. It just was amazing. This is the best Marvel film since Sam Raimi's Spider-Man 2. Hell I think that Spider-Man 2 is just a level below Dark Knight in terms of best CBM of all time and I'm willing to say it was better than Spider-Man 2.

It's better than Avengers and I say that because my biggest problem with Avengers is it's cinematography and camera angles and it does take me out of the film at times.

Still this film was amazing. I haven't felt the way I did in a theater since Spider-Man 2 as a kid. Dark Knight to but I still remember seeing Spider-Man 2.

That ending. Kelsey's Beat, Jean and Cyclops alive, Rogue. I liked Kitty and Collossus teaching a class together.

This movie was just so ****ing epic. I mean Goddamn man. It was so ****ing epic.

I was like

Just a great ****ing film. So ****ing great.

I give it a 15/10. 5 of that goes to the Sanford and Son easter egg.

This was the best comic book movie I've seen to date -- by far.

Singer salvaged everything that Brett Ratner destroyed.

Actually, he salvaged everything this man destroyed. Brett was merely the messenger hired by Thom Rothman.

From the Xavier narration, X2 theme, and Cerebro door intro, I was hooked. Then the ending just did it for me. I haven't been so happy seeing a movie since The Dark Knight Rises. Welcome back, Brian Singer.

10/10

Also the opening credits. I hate how in CBMs, we are losing opening credits in the films. This had one. Also the X2 theme, Goddamn I'm just so happy. I'm ****ing happy.

Yeah! I agree. It sets the mood. I hate how most today develop these gorgeous title sequences only to play them at the end of the film!

god i missed those cerebro doors closing, it's like when you see that you know this is definitely an X-Men movie. The X2 theme making its return just made it all the better.

I will start by saying I am exactly like JP.

Obviously X2 isn't objectively the best movie ever, or even the best CBM to date. But no other film holds the same emotional impact that movie had on me. From the beginning to the end, I can safely say the first time I watched X2 was one of the best afternoons of my life.

So, needless to say that when the X2 theme started, when that DNA started forming itself...I was already tearing up. All the memories from watching X2 came right back. Superb feeling.

So, let's head into the film itself. I loved the first battle, and I liked how concisely they explained the plot and jumped straight into the action. Storm appearing for the first time was beautiful, and also brought back so many memories. Everyone in the theater cheered. People just love her character.

I don't really wanna go into specifics, but I like how much attention to detail there was. The Professor mentioning having met Logan before, the "tomorrow we can change History" line going back into First Class, all the glimpses from X1, X2 and X3...everything was beautifully presented to the audience.

I loved Mystique's character, but sadly I do think Jennifer was miscast. This is the time she should be showing signs of the Mystique we meet later, but in no point during the film does she look menacing. BUT BUT BUT I did love the throwback to X2 when she goes into Trask's files.

Which brings me to the score: THANK YOU JOHN OTTMAN! Recognizing Mystique's theme, Magneto's theme was SUCH a thrill!!!!

Blah I don't wanna extend anymore. Basically the film is awesome and yes, it did replicate the feeling of seeing X2. JUST LIKE IN X2, the heartbreaking moments were actually heartbreaking. Seeing so many brutal deaths was so unexpected to me. But this time, unlike X3, it was done incredibly well.

And that last scene...I couldn't contain myself, I was crying and not even hiding anymore. It was like seeing a shattered glass (X3) come back to me in perfect state. Seeing that ending just brought to me Xavier's line about hope: even if we never see those characters again, seeing them all alive, well and happy truly made my heart melt, and brought closure to a situation that left me so disappointed when I watched X3. It's like my childhood was restored in mere minutes.

As cheesy as that may sound, but this movie truly made me as happy as when I watched X2. And I thought that wasn't possible.

All I can say about this film is... Awesome!

From the very first scene, it has you glued to it. Singers vision of the apocalyptic future was brilliant. The acting... Probably the best in CBM history. James McAvoy did a phenomenal job in this, everyone did. I felt the scene with both of the Professor's talking was so well done and pretty touching. This movie really had some emotional impact. It was great!

8.5/10

I have to classify this film as a work of art/comic book pulp fiction. The characters, effects, and story are all outstanding. This really is a love letter to the first two x-films as well as the perfect extension of the First Class movie. I’m surprised how tied it is to past efforts. The more you remember and know of the other films, the more enjoyment the viewer will receive.

Singer masterfully orchestrates what could very easily have gotten away from a director. The film is all about story first and that’s what elevates it. Much like a championship sports team, egos are checked at the door and each member does what is best and what is needed to win. Here, this stellar cast each pitches in with not one character taking center stage. Yes, some arcs are stronger than others but everything flows to connect story first… and that story is remarkable. It succeeds in re-setting the entire X-Men Universe.

One negative of that is that fans of individual characters may be left wanting more. Besides Quicksilver’s awesome scene, there really isn’t one stand out action sequence for any one character. Taken individually, even Wolverine doesn’t do much at all. Colossus is again under-used and most of what the new mutants bring to the table was seen in the previews and trailers. The original Sentinels don’t do much either. Yet, the plot, intensity and performances make this film “championship caliber” because the entire effort makes it one satisfying and very thrilling ride.

I do LOVE how we saw Scott, Jean, Kelsey's Beast and even Rogue at the end. Kitty with Colossus in class! That entire future scene could be straight out of the vintage books or even the Fox cartoon series! It really is the perfect way to send out the original cast if that's what they choose to do.

Ever since X3, the x-men movies have been off my radar. I went into DOFP with no expectations, I didn't touch these boards at all. Happily after seeing DOFP, I can not only wash my hands of the X3 disgust, but I can actually embrace the X3 flaws.

Thank you DOFP, you've brought me back.
That is all.

It's incredible how now you can watch X3 and just know that everything will be alright. The scene of the Professor seeing Wolverine killing Jean in the future was actually a nice touch.

Great movie, seeing the old cast at the ending was dope and the after credits scene made me hype for the next one.

Thanks, that's who I thought it was maybe.

Just came back from my second viewing, and damn was this even better a second time. 9.5/10 is my new rating. The acting was just superb. Mcavoy/Lawrence/Jackman/Fassenbender were astonishing. This is seriously one of the best comic book movies out there.

I give it an 8.

I enjoyed it but it didn't blow me away as much as I was hoping it would. I'll still hold X2 as my favorite in the series and tbh I may have enjoyed the Wolverine slightly more.

I just think the short shrifting of the original trilogy characters got to me a bit.

I'll tell you what gets me misty-eyed EVERY DAMN TIME though: When the two Charles speak to eachother. The way how Charles Prime comforts Charles the younger while he's an emotional wreck gets me all EMO.

Superb acting from McAvoy.

its get a 10/10 from be because this is the best Xmen movie of all time so far....
Also gave Avengers a 10
Dark Knight a 10
But my ranking is still
Avengers
Xmen DoFP
Dark Knight
X2

This was a much needed film to reboot the franchise
A perfect 10 in my book even tho theres some flaws...but the way the film was laid out..... i was very pleased....
The ending.....LOVED IT!!!!
After Credits..... COOL!!!!
OVERALL......YOU SHOULD SEE IT TWICE AS I ALREADY HAVE, AND WILL PROBABLY SEE IT AGAIN

Fantastic, simply gorgeous, amazing, stunning and wonderful. There were a few flaws but they weren't particularly egregious. As much as I enjoyed the movie, I'm going to be pumped to see the deleted scenes!
Also Hugh Jackman's @$$ rating A+++++

So I saw it for the second time today, and the first thing that happened was that the ticket machine tried to eat my tickets.

I blame Sentinels. :argh:

My folks loved the movie. Even my mom, who's only seen The Wolverine and parts of the other films.

I thought it was even better the second time. Last time was after all the premiere madness, so I was able to take it all in a little better this time. To me, it's a perfect combined sequel to X2 and First Class. And, as I explained the movie to my sister..."OMG, they fixed EVERYTHING!!!"

The two casts just merged beautifully, and even though we didn't see a lot of the OT cast (or the new guys, who I'd love to see more of), it felt like they all got a moment to shine, and seeing them all fall in the final scenes was still devastating. Would have loved to see the rest of the Rogue scenes, so I'm hoping we'll get that on a blu-ray or extended cut somewhere down the line.

I loved the new cast in FC, and they were just spectacular here. Magneto's speech in DC is amazing, and the scene between the two Xaviers is now probably one of my favorite scenes in the whole series so far. And I love that Lawrence's Mystique ended the story going her own way instead of choosing a side. I honestly have no idea where she's going from here, and that's pretty cool.

My guy Wolverine was terrific here ("Are you gonna pick this **** up?" was easily the favorite line between me and my dad :funny: ). I loved the whole 'student becomes the teacher' relationship he had with the young Xavier, and Xavier's reaction when they catch up at the end was another one of my favorite scenes in the film. As brutal as the moment was, Magneto's attack with the steel rods looked like a pretty awesome nod to the Fatal Attractions arc in the comics.

Loved, loved Quicksilver. He was funny, his powers looked crazy on screen, loved the reference to his relationship with Magneto, and the Time In A Bottle scene was one of the highlights of the film. More Quicksilver in Apocalypse, please.

If someone had told me 8 years ago, when Last Stand came out and everyone thought this series had run itself into the ground forever, that we'd get something like this, with all of those cameos at the end...I'd never believe them. So I'm just thrilled with this movie. It's like this series has a mutant healing factor. First Class and The Wolverine did a lot to restore faith in the series, and this was the thank you to the fans for not losing faith.

Because, omg...they fixed EVERYTHING.

4 already LS?!? Damn I thought I was the crazy one! :
I'll probably have my 3rd tomorrow.
