Official Rulk Thread

Yeah, Audrey Loeb. Didn't know she was only 17, though. Great work from someone that young (though I say this on the cusp of 20).

It was an okay read for the most part, but I disagreed with Loeb's comment about the importance of "duality" in the Banner/Hulk relationship. Yes, it's classic. But what about progression? A lot of people have this idea that Hulk's comics are nothing but smashing, growling, and dumb hijinks. The Green Scar persona let Pak write the Hulk as a relatable, intelligent, yet persistently furious destroyer. So what if it's not classic? Duality's more overdone in Hulk's stories than extramarital affairs are in Zeus myths. Challenge me.

Totally agree man. Idk why writers are so terrified to deviate from the norm. A bad idea is a bad idea :coughUltimatumcough: but few fans are gonna crucify a writer for taking the character in a new direction. As you said, some progression would be awesome. It's funny, cuz there are some people who don't EVER want the character to change and they should prob stop reading comics :o

But ongoing comics are pretty much made for them. Any change or progress in neverending comics is illusory at best.

Was there ever any explanation as to why the Hulk suddenly lost his intelligence in this book? Or are we meant to chock it up to MODOK's shenanigans? Banner's supposed to be an advanced student of mental discipline, so one would think that brainwashing or mentally conditioning him or the Hulk would be more than a little difficult.

Banner was keeping the more intelligent "Green Scar" persona at bay because he was afraid of what might happen if it emerged again. They explained it in Planet Skaar.

Green Scar Hulk would prob like Dark Reign. All the heroes that he wanted to exact his revenge on are either in hiding or having the worst day ever.

I can't wait to see a movie with Hulk, Rulk, Vulk, Bulk, Yulk and the whole bunch!

I doubt he'd care. He's over them because he did what he wanted in WWH. I think Banner's more scared that he'll find some new thing to piss him off and it'll be a whole new WWH for that, then something else, etc.

Kinda strange. Didn't Banner have Hulk's back during WWH? I remember when Dr. Strange went into Hulk's mind and tried to calm him into turning back into Bruce Banner, Banner suddenly grabbed Strange's hands and crushed them as he willingly turned back into the Hulk.

I don't think he was "done" at all. I'd imagine him wanting a few deaths.

But they went to great pains to establish that the Hulk isn't a murderer in WWH. He'll kill aliens and stuff on Sakaar, but things he considers people are off-limits. His super-math saved everyone in every building he ever demolished, remember?

Yeah, but that was to right a wrong that had been done to both Banner and the Hulk, basically. Now that that's settled, he probably doesn't want to let the Green Scar run wild on Earth. Look at the kind of s*** he did on Sakaar.

That's a shame. I'd love to see Green Scar regularly. That's the Hulk you don't eff with.

I'm looking forward to seeing Banner regularly in Incredible Hulk. I've always wanted to see more of Banner. He gets shoved to the backseat for the Hulk so often. It's about time he actually got the spotlight--and alongside his estranged, extremely temperamental son, no less.

I had forgotten :(

Well there's also the problem that Green Scar Holku was, in the end, just flat-out wrong in WWH. None of the heroes were responsible for Sakaar blowin' up. It was all Miek and stuff.

Yeah, there's that. But does the Hulk being wrong really matter? He's wrong about like 90% of the stuff he ever thinks about. It's the curse of being dumb.

It would probably matter to Green Scar, 'cause he's not dumb. Which is the reason most people even like him, I think.

In Hulk #3, page 5:
hulk3pg5tif.jpg

Ross talks to Banner, the video tape shows them whisper to each other about something,
we now know that...
[BLACKOUT]Ross was secretly working for MODOK[/BLACKOUT]
but what did Banner and Ross say to each other?
Was that revealed yet?

I heard that there was an explanation for why the Gray Hulk came out a little while ago, but I think I missed the reasoning. Something to do with the fact that Banner was in Vegas, or something like that?

Apparently now whenever Banner is in Vegas and he Hulks out, it's always gonna be Joe Fixit :whatever:

So you think it would make more sense if the Hulk launched some kind of investigation before acting? Of course he acted impulsively. That's what Hulk does when he's mad, dumb or not. Like Corp said, he's wrong all the time about tons of stuff.

It'd be great if someone just leaked the name of who Red Hulk is supposed to be. Then everyone stops reading it and it dies.
