I think we probably can agree that penis jokes were not part of "Tolkien's vision", for what it is worth.

It wasn't an American Pie level crude joke. It took up all of 3 seconds in a 2 1/2 hour movie and the way it was delivered didn't seem at all weird or inappropriate for the universe.

If I recall correctly, in the first movie, one of the dwarves talked about "sticking dwarf iron up his jacksie" in reference to Smaug. This was more or less on that level.

People are making way too big a deal out of two lines.

Can't read the spoiler, as there is still a lingering chance I might see this at some point.

Agree about the Arwen/Aragorn echo being a problem, but that seems like a problem with any other inter-species romance, anyway. If we had a romantic subplot with Bard and a human woman, there would be less echoes of Man/Elf than there is in Dwarf/Elf.

I really don't think that the tone of PJ's movies indicates that they are more aimed at adults than were the books that they purport to adapt.

Is a willy-joke more likely to amuse adults or children?
lol depends on the person I guess. My mom for example wouldn't have been offended by it yet Bad Granpa would probably give her a heart attack. lol
