I'd pay to see it to be honest. :p

I would too. Im about to be blasphemous. At this point I would like for Disney to throw a ridiculous amount of money at the Tolkien estate and acquire film rights for all existing material and to pump out a number of films based on that material. I just want more films in middle earth. Its too rich and deep of a universe to be locked in the pages of a book. Imagine a Middle Earth film with someone like Alfonso Cuaron behind the camera. Or any director. I just dont want Jackson's films to be all we've got in fifty years.

BUT I wouldnt want Disney to be able to publish new material in books and comics that they came up with cause I think that would **** all over what Tolkiens intent was with his writings, and muddy the canon. But as for films...yeah I got no problem with those being made. That won't tarnish the books or the universe and it gives us a continuing and consistent fantasy universe on film wich is something I feel Hollywood is lacking.

I don't think that's particularly blasphemous. I would rather something only touched on in passing, like Prince Imrahil's campaigns against the Corsairs or the blue wizards' activities in the South, was given an expansive cinematic imagining, rather than clumsy fan fiction inserted into an adaptation of one of the principle stories.

Who is Alonso Custom? Director of Y Tu Mama Tambura?

This thread is now about Alonso Custom.

Auto correct turns "Kryptonian" into nepotism, Mormonism, or sometimes lesbian.

"Superman's lesbian genes are a source of great conflict throughout Man of Steel." Works for me.

I would totally get behind them doing something like this. It is my favorite fantasy world put on screen yet. (not including superhero films and the like). The more films the better. I'd love to see the mythology expanded, through movies, in ways that make sense also.

:funny:

So, I saw this movie recently... much better than the Hobbit, thats for sure. Although the pacing took a turn for the worst when they arrived at the Floating City.

However, the action makes up for that.

Can't wait to see the White Council take down Dol Guldur and the battle of the Five Armies :)

Solid 8/10!

PJ could probably do a pretty good "Children of Hurin" movie, since its basically the dark tragedy to LoTR's high fantasy and Hobbit's Action Adventure.

I want either this or someone to see the huge gap in the market for a LOTR style fantasy franchise with films based all in one world. LOTR and the rights to the property seem very complicated in terms of getting this to ever happen plus you would probably have a lot of fans objecting and complaining about the style of new content not directly written about or covered in appendices by Tolkien. I'd be fine with some of the other modern fantasy universes being adapted with the advantage of being able to include a lot more fantasy races that have evolved in fantasy since Tolkien set it all up and with an author/set of authors who is alive (or has already written a ****load of books) and keep creating content. The Warhammer fantasy universe for eg is covered by a universe of books (The Black Library) by many different authors and something from there could work. I want something established on film like a Star Wars Extended Universe where content can continually be created by new people and the legends can keep growing.

Ahhhh, the days when this video marked differences between Jackson and Lucas rather than similarities:

The best bit about that video is Christopher Lee's "I loathe that man".

In defense of PJ, he seems to understand the characters to some extent and cast them quite well. His problem is that he likes things to be bloated and manufactured, and he and his team aren't the writers that they seem to believe they are.

Just saw it for a third time today and I still give it a 9/10. Now I just need to fine the original thread so I can rate it in the poll.

The SHH! Movie Award nominations have begun!

Head to the SHH! Movie Award boards to nominate the best of 2013 in my sig!

I realise I'm probably the last person to notice this, but:

1 ring for Sauron
9 rings for mortal Men
7 rings for the Dwarf lords
3 rings for the Elven kings

1, 9, 7, 3. What year did JRR Tolkien die? 1973.

just watched fellowship and man the action in the battle of amon-hen is ten times better than the action in DOS its far more real and gritty and more spectacular. Gimli hits an uruk with his axe and the guy does a 180 from the impact, legolas stabs(with his hand not the bow) an uruk in the face with an arrow and then as the uruk falls he uses the same arrow to shot the next uruk behind it, it just looks so cool. One of my problems with the battle of the barrels(as I call it now) is that they cut the action almost to fast and for some reason whenever legolas shots someone at close range they cut away before we see the arrow hit and or the arrow kinda disappears once it leaves the bow.

Sure it sounds like nitpicking but to me its important and that cgi when he starts surfing on the river bank is just terrible, yuck, that's why I almost like more the fight between legolas and bolg than the BOTB, even though that fight its a poor man's Aragorn vs Lurtz lol.

That's my biggest complaint with this film, and many action films as of late, the quick cutting/editing of the action sequences. I can hardly tell whats going on.
