Looks good. Wasn't dying to see more Master of Laketown, but hopefully he doesn't take up more than a few minutes of the 25 minutes of new footage. Mainly I'm looking forward to Thrain and Beorn and the Mirkwood stuff.

That Thrain scene should have been the prologue of TBTFA since it would set up [BLACKOUT]Thorin's decent into madness[/BLACKOUT] in the film, but I'm happy to be seeing it at all.

Over 9,000

Better NOT be lol I don't have room for them lol

There has only been 1 for each part of the movie so 3 is all there will be hopefully.

Nice but with this being such a "big" film you'd think there'd be more

Thanks but it was taken down lol

I want a 1 to 1 bust of Smaug....problem is there's no WAY that would fit in my Apartment

In the book Bilbo was knocked unconscious throughout the battle. Jackson did say a while back he wouldn't be knocked unconscious for the battle of five armies and that he will fight. I think that's a good idea.

Is it me or is there no hype for the last movie?

The original LOTR had so much love and anticipation, but with The Hobbit, it just comes and goes. Sure it'll make money but that's it.

I think aswell, Warner is so much worse at marketing the Hobbit than New Line did for LOTR, also Peter Jackson hasn't done any videoblogs this year

I don't think it's the marketing.

It's the public being not enthusiastic about the product.

I have absolutely no anticipation for this movie. As a fan of the book, that breaks my heart.

Also, I was watching some of the special features on the AUJ Extended Edition with my girlfriend, and when it got to the part where McKellen had an emotional breakdown on set, she flipped the **** out. Not happy with Mr. Jackson at all.

For me, this trilogy will serve as the default example of how not to adapt a book to film.

Well... what you give is what you get. The Hobbit films are not utter trash or anything like that... but they're basically action flicks with tons of CGI, and a few good bits here and there. Everyone has seen such movies. Tons of them. There is nothing about the Hobbit that stands out from the tons of modern CGI epics, nothing except the LOTR trilogy and the Tolkien fandom. So why would there be a hype? What is there to be hyped for? Watching a CGI double of Orlando Bloom shoot CGI orcs with his bow? We've seen that... We've seen that three times already.

The Hobbit has nothing on the LOTR trilogy... Though, in retrospect, watching the LOTR movies one after another kind of hints at exactly the type of films the Hobbits would eventually become.

I was hopeful at first before AUJ opened, but now, yeah, not much to look forward to. PJ took a nice little story and turned it into a huge, bloated, CGI-soaked mess. There's hardly any reason to even call it The Hobbit any more because it's definitely NOT Bilbo's story - it's a lot more about Gandalf and the Ring and Thorin than Bilbo. He's sort of just along for the ride.

Hard to believe that in retrospect the Rankin/ Bass version turned out to be a lot more faithful to the book than PJ was.

I just really hope he doesn't mess up
the deaths of Kili and Fili. But I'm resigned to the idea that Tauriel and Kili will die in each other's arms after vowing eternal love and they may not kill Fili at all.

No offense to your GF but its a job and Jackson was quick to make Mckellen feel better and they altered the way they shot that scene specifically for him.

I like McKellen as much as the next person but come on. He breaks down once and people act like Jackson is a damn monster. You know how many people go home after their ****ty job and cry? A lot. You know how many people have bosses as kind as Peter Jackson? McKellen will survive. For all we know he had already had a ****** week and the shoot was the straw that broke the camels back. Now, if Jackson had told him to suck it up Id be furious. But he didnt and I see zero reason to get mad at Jackson because one of his actors had a moment of emotional weakness. Jackson didnt purposefully set out to make McKellen cry.

And serious wtf is up with the lack of Production Diaries?:argh:

It was more of a boiling point over an issue we both share with Jackson's recent outings.

I too have been wondering where the production diaries are! I love those!

I like these movies, and I still like Peter Jackson...but this trilogy will never surpass the LOTR films. I enjoy these movies and look forward to the third film, but I wouldn't be upset to miss it in theaters. These films seem to have lost focus on what they are supposed to be about, the Hobbit.

Can't wait for Battle. Trying to get my kids to sit and watch the 1st two is a pain when they're so far away
