The Hobbit posters couldn't do less for me. They are effectively faded out closeups of actors I don't particularly like.

Yes they are still there. I think you need to do the same thing to access them too, I was watching all the features earlier this year and made sure to try them out.

Yep. The Easter eggs on the LOTR EE blu-rays are on the same discs in the blu-ray set that they were on in the DVD sets. They are labeled with the One Ring.

I can't find any on the new ones. I miss hunting for them too lol But yeah, I finally a 32 inch flat screen and the extended Unexpected Journey was AWESOME looking.

Empire Magazine's Nick de Semlyen has been dropping some new bits of info on the EE on Twitter here, here, here and here.

Tweet #1: "If you're curious about the Desolation Of Smaug extended cut, the biggest change is the addition of Thorin's dad, Thrain."

Tweet #2: "Thrain basically becomes Gandalf's sidekick. He's in all the Dol Guldur scenes, and was clearly digitally removed from the theatrical cut."

Tweet #3: "They've also reinstated a scene explaining why the Master of Laketown attacks Bard, something that makes little sense in the theatrical cut."

Tweet #4: "Also new to the Smaug extended cut: Stephen Fry eats bollocks!"

On Mirkwood: "One new scene, involving the crossing of a river."

On Beorn: "One new scene. A new intro to him (he's chopping wood)."

The Empire guy is wrong about Beorn. He has at least two new scenes. One of him chopping wood and another of him speaking to Gandalf.

The bit about Thrain being digitally removed from the theatrical cut's Dol Guldur scenes has me shaking my head and wondering WTF, Jackson. If he was already in there why spend part of the budget digitally removing him? I always had a sneaking suspicion tho. The moment when Azog jumps from the ledge to attack Gandalf in the theatrical cut is in the trailer but its Thrain jumping down and attacking Gandalf. They digitally removed Thrain and replaced him with Azog in that shot, and Im betting it isnt the only shot. There are a couple quick bits that had Thrain in them in the early trailer which have Azog in them in the theatrical cut.

Really love the Galadriel poster. Man, been playing a lot of Lotronline guys...its really a fun game to play...I just made it to Lothlorian out of Moria. Man I hate Moria. Such a dank dark place. packed with orcs of all kinds. Even Goblins... but man. I got to meet Galadriel in the game.
