That is an Awesome poster. Is it like the banners, do they all connect?

I highly doubt the cheapest bid ever wins that type of stuff

I liked the DOS EE, pretty much every new scene added something, the same could not be said for the EE of AUJ, which I also really liked.

The Thrain scenes were certainly interesting, and you get to see more of the individual dwarves as well as more Beorn. Once they get to Erebor the movie plays out pretty much like the theatrical cut, so no added Smaug scenes.

That Beorn scene better be worth the wait :o.

I decided to watch the documentaries before watching the film, and Im enjoying these docs a LOT more than the ones in the AUJ EE. Ive been laughing my ass off at some of the stuff they put these actors through on this movie. Those fish :funny:. And Lilly and Lee Pace are great. Its insane how quickly Lilly picked up her fighting skills. She is a natural! And there is more than a few bits of deleted material, unfinished scenes, and dialogue that isnt even in EE. Its really cool!

Cant wait to watch the rest.

That's good to hear. I was expecting the documentaries to be on point. They always are. Jackson and co. excel in this department. The documentaries on the Lord of the Rings trilogy are, for my money, the very best special features ever put on a DVD. The Hobbit documentaries come pretty close to that. The only thing I wish they carried over from LOTR are the cast commentaries.

Well, no clue how long it will be before I get my copy. The other stuff I ordered from Amazon along with the EE Collector's set has shipped but the EE I have a "We'll notify you via e-mail when we have an estimated delivery date for this item. It will ship separately. You can cancel at any time." notice on it *sigh*

The LOTR films definitely have the best bonus features of all time. I love all the long making-of stuff. I still rewatch them every now and again.
AUJ had some great bonus stuff too. Can't wait to pick up the DOS extended edition!

Hopefully it wont be too long. Apparently there was a stocking problem with the 2D statue edition at Amazon and some members at blu-ray.com have been notified:

We're contacting you about Order# ***-*******-*******. We recently learned there's been an unexpected delay with your item(s). We won't be able to deliver your item(s) by December 24, 2014. We're very sorry this happened.

And it doesnt seem to matter whether you pre-ordered it when it was first announced or yesterday. Some have received it in the mail, and some who preordered it months ago got that notice. Its just some ****** luck of the draw.

This is one of the reasons I dont bother with these special collector's sets.

Yep. The Lord of the Rings Trilogy Extended Edition special features are the gold standard. Hell, I love that trilogy to death, but I will admit that I've probably watched the special features more than the films themselves at this point. Truly unrivaled stuff.

I'd be more passionate about the Hobbit special features if I wasn't so cold toward the actual movies, but they're not bad. The production design features are my favorite.

The special features for DOS have definitely warmed me towards the movie. Its hard for me to hate this film after watching all the crew hard at work and their dedication on display. Just the attention to detail and the sets they built and the wire work and choreographers etc. They are so passionate about it. That being said...

One thing thats become abundantly clear about this film after watching some of these docs is that you get the sense that the problems came from Jackson more than anyone else. Watch his original Laketown cameo that Fran flat out refused to allow in the film and you'll know what I mean. Its horrid and in Fran's own words "stupid!". Jackson and Phillipa were going to go with it. Its a scene that is in the same vein as every cheesy bad thing in the film. The fact Jackson thought it was good shows you how off his compass gets at times. Really makes me wonder how many other terrible decisions Fran vetoed.

On another note, did yall know that Bard's two daughters were played by James Nesbitt's (Bofur) daughters? And young Bilbo's mother in AUJ EE was played by James' wife.

Got the extended blu ray today at walmart for just 20 bucks! Not too bad! Can't wait to watch. Whenever I watch the behind the scenes stuff, I definitely gain a whole new appreciation for the movie. And for movie making in general pretty much. I wish every movie had such an in-depth look behind the scenes.

Got my Extended Edition of DOS today. Target had an exclusive steelbook.

I pre-ordered the 2D statue edition at Amazon back in August and it hasn't shipped yet but says it would arrive next week. If I get a email about a delay I will probably cancel it and buy it at a lower price later.

Man Can't wait to see it all. lol
