That's the thing that is upsetting.

In the second tim, Lake Town looked good but it never felt…real. like how Riverdell felt real in 'Fellowship'. The town looked like a soundstage in front of a green screen, and nothing more.

Honestly, the 3D is worthless. See it in 2D if you can to save some money.

This is the case for most 3D movies, though.

Yeah normally I'm against 3D, can't stand it actually.
I saw DOS in 3D 48fps and thought it looked great…didn't really get all the complaints about the gold and other shots being sketchy. Saw it a second time in 2D 24fps and immediately noticed what the complaints were lol.

Who wants to use CGI to make a burning town look convincing when you can use it to give Orlando Bloom virtual botox?

Exactly. This goes for most of the locations in these films, save for the Shire. Even the forests look fake.

The most disappointing location is the Elve's kingdom. It never looked..real. The decision to keep it that vast and open is a detriment because it just looks like green screen then. Couldn't they at least make the 'throne room' into an actual room?

hey, gotta try to draw in the fangirls with that outdated heartthrob, yo' :o

I'm surprised they didn't try to CGI a twenty year old Leonardo DiCaprio in there to draw in the Titanic fangirls.

Poor Orlando.

Does he have a Jake Gyllenhaal or McCohnaugty in him?

I thought the Elves' dungeon was quite good, though I had to try to blot out Bumfluff and Gingerelf's burgeoning romance.

Jackson also added a useless fight with the Ringwraiths so he could shoehorn Saruman and Elrond into this movie. The Ringwraiths are a mix of liquid-Predator and digital holograms.

Huh. Without disappointing my child-like enthusiasm for this thing with a surfeit of spoilers, can someone tell me why Gandalf needs Saruman to tell him in FOTR that the "Nine have arisen", if he's just gone fifteen rounds with them in Mirkwood?

There's a bunch of continuity errors that make Gandalf look like an idiot in FOTR. The third movie adds another big one.

Pfft... who cares about continuity? Moar bat-surfing! "These bats... are bred for one purpose... war." #spiritoftolkien

Hm. Has anyone seen the Paddington Bear movie?

Because Saruman convinces both Gandalf and Elrond that they don't have to worry about Sauron, because Sauron doesn't have his ring of power, so no need to make outposts near Mordor nor does Gandalf [BLACKOUT]consider inspecting Bilbo's ring which he is aware of.[/BLACKOUT]

He was in the same remedial class as Smaug.

Remember guys, the Hobbit is a story that Bilbo tells to Frodo, so all plot holes can be explained that Bilbo loves to smoke his pipe.

"Your love of the halfings' leaf has clearly slowed your mind."

That's Gandalfs excuse as well.:cwink:

It sounds like they deliberately cut many scenes just to save them for the extended edition as opposed to just cutting them for pacing reasons. I hear a lot of plot lines aren't properly wrapped up ([BLACKOUT]Radagast, Dain becoming King[/BLACKOUT]).

[BLACKOUT]Radagast only has one minute of screen time in this movie. I didn't mind because the character doesn't interest me. Dain became king? They didn't show this at all[/blackout]

[BLACKOUT]Yeah In the book Dain Ironfoot becomes king of Erebor, because he is next in line after Thorin Fili, and Kili. I have little doubt that it is in the Extended Cut, but it was stupid to cut it from the theatrical cut. [/BLACKOUT]

This scene isn't also in the movie, so when Thorin, Dwalin, FIli and Kili ride up on Goats, they come out of nowhere.
