This was a pretty *****e bag move on WB's part. Definitely just going to wait for these (unnecessary) 3 movies on dvd or netflix.

How is making movies *****y? And they did the exact same thing with the LOTR stuff. Was that *****y as well?

Only 2/3 of their running time is unnecessary, to be fair.

Oh, I know I'm completely over reacting. But I was already annoyed that they were splitting up the films in 2 parts just to make money. Three was just too much. Now this release date is just the last straw sort of deal for me.

I'll catch em at home. Highly doubt they'll miss my money anyway. :whatever:

Some people are bad enough they stretched It to 3 films when 2 films and expanded
special editions could work but now they are scheduling It the same day as Fox had
already announced for X-Men:Days of future Past. That's a giant screw you to fox,X-Men,and Bryan Singer. And Singer's next directing project Jack the Giant Killer Is for
Warner's.

Warner Brothers Is pissing off X-Men fans royaly here. And this could have been avoided after spliting the hobbit Into three films by keeping the December tradiation or releasing It In June like they are Man of Steel In 2013.They are doing The last Hobbit In Summer
because After Man of steel It will be a tleast 2015 till they have another comic book film.

it was Jackson's doing from the get-go.

So I should be annoyed with him instead of the studio?

It's warner Brothers which scheduled It the same day as X-Men;Days of future Past
so I would be more upset with them.

Yeah blame Warner Brothers for the move Jackson probably had nothing to do with the move. He probably would prefer December so he can work on it more. But I honestly believe Jackson is making three movies because he believes he can make three great movies and not for the money.

I'd love to believe this, but it's been screaming MONEY to me since the very beginning.

Don't get me wrong it is for money. Just not for Jackson. If Jackson did it for the money he never would have decided to just do two films when he originally wanted to do three. He would have just done three.

And yet this release date shows that at the end of the day WB was desperate for a Summer 2014 tent pole, which they didn't have.

Well yeah but I don't think WB told Jackson to do another film. They could find another tent pole like Godzilla.

While i respect PJ for pretty much tacking on all the **** Tolkien had in his footnotes that supposedly took place during the book, three flicks is still too much in that sense.

Again, I could live with one "Hobbit" film and two "Appendices + PJ's Bloated BS" films from which I could stay away.

But stretching the principle story, thinly, over three parts is a cynical exercise that will spoil its integrity.

Got to love the internet, people feel free to be as negative and to ****** all they want. Really, if you guys are so ticked about a third movie, it's simple, don't go see it, leaves more breathing room for the rest of us who do want to see it and who have no problems whatsoever with the three films.

It's one of those cases of wait and see and while people are jumping the gun of criticizing a film which haven't been released yet, I'm still ecstatic to see the films. It's more Tolken's and Jackson's work on screen, I can't wait.

To paraphrase: "keep your opinions to yourself". That isn't the way a discussion forum works. If you don't like it, find something else to do with your time.

That's not what he said at all.

If people are so "upset" about a 3rd movie.. just do not go see it. No one is forcing anyone to go see it.

But we ARE forced not to discuss it at all?

I don't use this forum to watch films, I use it to discuss them, which is what I will continue to do, thanks.

Angry nerds pissing and moaning about movies is what Al Gore invented the internet for, no one should be surprised at this point.

Desolation of Smaug is a fine title. It fits.

Untrue. Jackson is forcing me. Because I do want a movie about The Hobbit but I'll have to endure hours of Jackson's fan-fiction if I want to get it. I just hope this fan-fiction is at least entertaining.

And Inb4 someone mentions the precious 125 pages of random notes from the Appendices that are actually only seven/eight.

I see the *****ing train has come back around. I've seen nothing so far that makes me actually worried about this film. When we have more trailers or have, you know, actually seen the film then we can ***** and moan and stomp our little feet all we want. But until then people are *****ing about something they really don't have a clue about. Peter obviously thinks he can do it. It is his project. He has been working on the script and we haven't. Until we see it all this *****ing is pointless, and we might as well be blowing smoke out our ass. Its a long enough story that, yes, it can be split across three films. Even a three hour film couldn't contain all of the Hobbit. Things would be cut. This way we will get more of the actual Hobbit narrative on film, and we will get extra material. And we get 3 more LOTR films. That is three wins in my book. I'm not saying adapting it into 3 films isn't radical, but at least give the films a chance before you damn them, the crew, and Peter. People are always so quick to bite the hands that feed them.

No one is forcing anyone to see the film, but to ***** about something you've only seen a minute of out of context footage of is illogical. Three films do not instantly equal awful quality.
