Can we all admit that with this becoming 3 films that there's no excuse for them to leave stuff out ala' Sam & the Watchers from the LOTR series?
Here's what he sounds like. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LYmsVWmHI78#t=19s
Nice one. I own all the LOTR equivalents (about 15 massive books) so I guess I better clear some shelf space.
Damn, that's grotesque. That even makes this guy look downright pleasant:

To be fair they filmed the watchers scene, but it was cut, and is among the many deleted scenes still not released. Jackson jokingly/kinda seriously said on the commentary for ROTK that if he ever does an anniversary edition he would like to include these scenes. The Elrond Library scene he mentions has me really intrigued. There was a lot they filmed we still haven't seen.
Behold the Great Goblin?

I remember reading that Gothmog was based on Joseph Merrick, which seems likely.Am I the only one who always thought this guy looked like Sloth from the Goonies, which also featured Sean Astin?

Hmm. it seems these Orcs will be more rather than less animalistic. That isn't the direction I would have chosen, not least because the "Goblins" we meet in The Hobbit are a bit less aggressive and rather more jolly than their brethren in LOTR. After all, they give the Dwarves a hearing before any violence occurs.
I'm not going to refrain from commenting on anything "til see the movie". That's a very silly protocol to adopt on a forum that exists on people's enthusiasm for speculating about movies.
Or should this thread be closed until it is on general release?
That goblin makes me wish Del Toro had tackled all 6 Middle Earth films.![]()
