Um... that drawing is not exactly PG.

When it shows him treating the rabbit on the table it seems to be fairly normal.

Also, cg in trailers almost always looks terrible.

Some folks are saying that the sled "proves he doesn't understand the material." In what way exactly? Radagast is closely associated with animals and lives in Mirkwood.

Not Tolkienlike enough?

Tiny people that live in holes in the ground, rabbit sleds, monsters made of fire and shadow, giant eagles, talking animals, walking talking trees, a man that can transform into a bear

Other than who made them up, do any of these really stand out?

Im saying its not something tolkien did so if jackson was going to add it do it in a less corny/silly cgi heavy way. If it turns out radagast can shrink then i find that less corny. Big bunnies just seems stupid as **** to me. Yes its odd but a draw a line at giant fluffy bunnies. To each their own and all that.

And you keep saying he is treating a rabbit. Its not a rabbit. It is a hedgehog.

Anybody know what is tearing into Radagast's roof when he is examining the animal?

Good trailer. But, some of the shots look completely CG for some reason. Especially the scenes with Radagast!

A branch or a root or something like that, I think. Maybe to show Sauron's corruption spreading through the forest?

Yes, that seems likely, actually. I hope it is that Radagast can shift his size. The idea is beginning to appeal to me.

Well, The Hobbit was a kids book. It’s obvious the overall tone of this film will be more in line with the more mature themes and tone of the LotR films, so I can see the rabbit sled as an attempt to rekindle some of the “children’s book” flavor lost. I’m fine with it.

Forgetting the negativity for a moment. My favorite bit from the trailer was definitely the short conversation between Galadriel and Gandalf. The words are perfect, as is Bilbo fighting with Sting. Gives me hope.

That's something we can agree on. I loved that explaination for bringing Bilbo along. Written and acted wonderfully.

Rabbits, hedgehogs.....they all make for good eatin'.

:o

Only thing we are missing is flying pigs.

Ha, that's unlikely. We won't see flying pigs until the day comes when pigs fl ... LOGICAL CONUNDRUM OVERLOAD beep beep beep - end program ..$(!ne1

There is a quick scene of gandalf running/falling dosn a narrow corridor and he bursts out and nearly falls off an edge. Is that Dol Guldor?

I'm not sure. My feeling is that the Troll's segment has been much expanded. I sense that the little incident of finding their stash of loot has grown into something a bit more "Indiana Jones".

never read book but does thorin have a big part dude comes across straight bad ass in trailer

It just occurred to me: what if Radagast can alter his size, and the rabbits are ordinarily proportioned?

He is supposed to be a wizard of sorts so it is possible, at first I thought that he would be sort of a pixie type creature & was just naturally that small.

I hope not. Radagast, Gandalf and Saruman should be much alike, apart from lifestyle. Imagine them as three brothers, where Saruman is an investment banker, Gandalf is a spy, and Radagast lives on a commune and does a lot of mushrooms.

"Why Bilbo Baggins? Perhaps it is because I'm afraid, and he gives me courage."

Lol, I like that analogy, but Gandalf should be a public schoolteacher in that group.
