Well in the rankin and bass version he puts on the ring because is tired of the whole violence of war and then makes a comment he got a crack on the head and was out for hours.

So this is pretty cool. This site has a break down of the dwarves with the pictures set up with a slider that lets you see the changes in appearance for each of the actors.

I prefer the reserved color palet of the lotr posters. I doubt the US poster will be as bright and vibrant as this asian poster. Least I hope it isnt.
