Once a domestic abuser....always a domestic abuser :p

Peter hit MJ when he found out he was a clone (of course it was revealed he wasnt.. but lets not go there). But he hasnt been portrayed as one ever since. Hank's was when he wasnt of sound mind. A breakdown resulting in the Yellowjacket persona. It was very well sorted with the triune a while back, but the hit keeps on coming back to haunt him such as (I think) austen writing Hawkeye bring it up to get him and Jan together

Yeah, but Hawkeye's an ass who would do anything for some sweet lovin'.

616 Hank isnt a notorious domestic abuser. it was a one time strike across the face thing in the 80's (or 70's - dont remember) that has been used to determine his character ever since

He also betrayed his fellow Avengers in order to "save" them and prove himself a hero, and as a result almost killed them in the very same issue.

I think it was all around the same time - the yellowjacket time. I wish I could remember the explanation and culmination of it all... something to do with shunting his mass back and forth with pym particles caused the creation of separate entities or something. There was three of them, which is why the triune were brought in to help him bring them all together to have one, healthy Hank. The three were the scientist Hank Pym, the braggard and ass Yellowjacket, and the Hero of good nature Giant-Man.

Ant-man – Becomes the size of an ant as well as controlling ants.
Giant-Man – Becomes the size of a Giant (as well as controlling Giants?)
Goliath – A really famous Giant and it sounds better than Giant-Man.
YellowJacket – He wears a yellow jacket... Wow, someone broke the mould for super hero names there...

(A YellowJacket is a type of wasp but what I'm getting at is, it's a crap superhero name)

Never did understand why the writers, editors (and I guess the character too) thought the change to Yellowjacket was a good call. I mean, the whole thing with Pym is that he never feels he is enough of a hero, which is why he switched to Giant-Man cos he felt it'd give him more power than an inch tall guy with the same strength level as when full sized. So how the Yellowjacket persona thought he was more of a hero cos he could become small, buzz around and shoot lasers from his wrists was a better hero than say, his wife who could do the exact same thing... is beyond me. Yet when Hank sorted out his identity issues, he said he wanted to use the Yellowjacket name and outfit cos he felt he had to right the wrongs he felt that identity did - its the worst superhero name and outfit ever created! The hornet identity Spidey used briefly was a better creation!

Well, the initial reason for Yellojacket was that he breathed in some toxic fumes which caused him to go a little crazy. The reason for his beating his wife and betraying The Avengers was just a regular psychological breackdown.

no more action just better fight scenes.I dunno the more io read it the more i want to reject my statement,im always surprised,i never would have thought of most of that stuff,I just wanted to see dynamo and iron man duke it out.

In Ultimates, maybe in Avengers too I don't know, they were trying to hint at that fact that Hank Pym abused his wife in the past. We just happened to see it this time because this was the first time he had done it since the start of the Ultimates.
Plus when someone does something like that once, you cannot look at them the same way again. Also they used that as part of his larger mental picture.
He not only hit his wife, but he has serious mental issues. I think he is bipolar, he had a identity crisis, among other things. It rounded out his character in that way.

I don't know if they will do this now, but I was waiting for Ultimate Hank Pym to be disshonorably discharged, court marshialed, maybe even arrested and be put on trial for treason and terrorism, because of his teaming up with the evil Ultimates team.
Sort of like they did for the Hulk, we see a big serious, trial and it is all over the media and is a huge deal. "The Trial of Giant Man"

I did love how when he turned on the terrorist team, telling his Ultron robots to attack them and help the heroes, the Ultron robots were like "wait, seriously?" Instead of just following orders, they couldn't belive him either.

This may be the most challanging part to write, how they will explain hulk being back and so on.

i could see them covering up the Hulk by saying it's a new guy they used the formula on,and this time he can control himself

with Banner on the other hand still being presumed dead and walking around with different aliases

Didn't help his wife was always fawning over other men, and kind of putting Hank down during said breakdown.

I guess thats true,he could disappear with the help of shield.I do wonder however,if in the ultimate universe healing factors arent quite as strong.Aboms head was taken, unless he doesnt have a healing facotr or healing foctors dont work if the brain stem is severd, wont he come regenerate? Also,we were told EVERY story line would be settled, theres quite a few that havent, one being the defenders who were listed to return and the other being the rest of the reserves such as the four seasons and intangi girl and so on.

He seems to be insecure, period. To me, he's a jerk in the Ultimate Universe, 616, and in Beyond which I consider to be a separate category hehe.
He's always so willing to betray people! :cmad:

The Defenders were there. Just not in some fashion you probably would have enjoyed.

Actually, I find Cap and Nick to be the jerks of the Ultimates line. I find Pym to be...well...Pym. The guy who doesn't think enough of himself, and hides it with overconfidence in his work to the point he does crappy things.

Either way. Beyond Hank could easily have an explanation. He wins, he wishes everybody come back to life, everybody go home, and the Beyonder to stop doing what it is he's doing. Seems to me, Hank's the only one smart enough to figure it all out.

Hey I was just wondering for someone that has just been collecting a little bit over a year and mainly on x-titles is Ultimates worth picking up? Because from what I have heard its pretty good.

Its atleast in the top ten of all comics. One of the best marvel books, its in the top five atleast and its a great starter book for anyone who isnt into marvel and or comics.

Hell yes. If you pick up UXM, you'll like Ultimates. It's as good now as UXM used to be back in the day.

Ultimates tops UXM by miles on end,no matter who was writing it.
