I just read Ultimates2 Gods and Monsters and it was so incredible I enjoyed it beyond belief. Cant wait for grand theft America.

Enjoy it, after Ultimates2, everything goes down hill. :o

I don't know about that.
Ultimates 2 is good, even great. But Loeb is writing part 3 and 4, and Ed is drawing part 4. Part 4 could be really good for all we know.

We donno about that, sure the art of part three might not be top notch but the story could be cool.

The art will be top - notch. Just not the appropriate style. Joe Mad is good at what he does - he's just not suited to the Ultimates IMO. He's more suited to 616.

Sure his art might be good but if the style doesn't match 1610 (Ultimate Universe) then it's not top notch, it's just good art.

This makes no sense. Theres no difference in art quality from the 616 and Ultimate Universe. Joe Mad's art fits a certain mood, and Ultimates as is today, his art doesnt fit that, but it might fit Jeph Loeb's mood on the Ultimates.

Where did I say there was a difference in quality? - If you re-read my post I was responding to Kahoot where he said the art wouldnt be top- notch and I said it would.

I said that stylistically, it doesn't suit the more realistic tone already set in the Ultimates with Hitch's art. Which you've emphasised yourself in the above paragraph:-

"Joe Mad's art fits a certain mood, and Ultimates as is today, his art doesnt fit that."

That's essentially what I was saying.

I made no mention of Loeb because we dont have any details about his 'mood' on the book or the direction he'll be taking. We ca only go by the current 'mood' set by Millar.

You said hes more suited to 616, as in the 616 is more of his style because its more cartoony, thats what what I understood you saying.

Finally got to reading Ultimates #11. Totally cool, but the hype of waiting for it months on end and what I eventually got weren't very balanced. Oh well, still looking forward to the next issue.

Only because of the realistic tone the Ulitmates has set thus far. An artist like Perez, Jiminez etc would good choices to succeed Hitch.

Maybe you're right though in terms of the direction Loebs is taking the book. Perhaps they're looking for an extreme artistic style change to emphasize that this is their take on the Utimates - differenciating it from Millars and Hitch's work?

We'll see about that, now won't we? No Loeb isn't going to be writing like Millar on the Ultimates, and he'll most likely be taking a much different direction than Millar, but Loeb does respect things that have come before him. And just because the art style may not fit after what Hitch has laid down...I don't really think it's a reason to say that it's going downhill.

On a more positive note. Maybe we'll actually get The Ultimates on a MONTHLY basis as opposed to whenever it feels like coming out. No matter the quality of Ultimates 1 and Ultimates 2, the wait in between issues isn't exactly the greatest.

So, there are negatives and positives on the horizon for the title. But wait and see how it goes, who knows you might like Loeb's take on the Ultimates better.

Ultimates 12 got pushed back a week.

>groan< And so It begins.......

That week'll become two.

Those two weeks'll become four.

That one month will, well, you get the picture.

:(

Doesn't matter. If my predictions end up being accurate, issue 12 will REALLY get pushed back... :(

That's a positive note? "It may be sh'tty, but at least we'll get all the sh't we can eat."

You're so frickin' whiny about the "tardiness" of the book. Ultimates is frickin' phenomenal. I can excuse a book for being bimonthly, hell quarterly, if it is of the uber-quality that Hitch and Miller are dishing out. What I cannot excuse a book for is being a turd. Even if it’s a Timely turd.

You'd b'tch if the Sistine Chapel was behind schedule, missing the fact that you're seeing the birth of a rare masterpiece.

LOL! Ultimates isnt even in the top 10 quality wise of every comic published. Lets be real.

The book isn't meant to be bi-monthly or quarterly, it was never announced to be that way; it was supposed to be a monthly title. I can even recall when they said that they had many of the issues done before it went out so it wouldn't have the same scheduling problems as the first volume. Just because you don't have a problem with a book you consider to be phenomenal doesn't mean the other people have to. There are other just as good as (or better) comics out there that deliver on time.

Yeah, it is a positive note. I'd like a MONTHLY TITLE to actually come out MONTHLY. Instead of, you know, whenever the hell it wants to come out.

As someone said earlier, they even delayed between Ultimates 1 and 2 so that they could keep the book on schedule...and that lasted a whole two or three months and then went right back to it's usually thing.

And I rarely complain about books being late on these boards. This and All Star Batman are the only titles that I complain about. And this title I complain about because they put aside EXTRA TIME to make sure it was monthly...and it's not. Sheesh.

I just love how people are already like, "Loeb and Joe Mad aren't going to be any good" when nobody has any clue as to what the hell they are even going to do, heh. People may like Loeb and Joe Mad's take on The Ultimates for all we know. I'm looking forward to it. No, Joe Mad doesn't draw like Bryan Hitch....so WHAT? Joe Mad isn't horrible by any means, just a different style.

the style has always been top class on ultimates. people are just scared. people fear what they don't understand, yknow. :p lmao

Or change for that matter. I mean god knows how many times I've heard someone read an Ultimate book and say "Whatshisface wouldn't do that! That's not how he's supposed to be! Oh my god! They're s**tting on 50 years!". It's like the concept of what the Ultimate universe is goes flying right over their heads...It's like the Just Imagine: Stan Lee thing all over again but longer.
