Once you have p;ayed a superhero/villian, you may never play another hero/villian. Especially one from the same universe.

For the record, I still owe both Jon Favreau & Sam Elliot a kick in nuts for doing that. Although Jon may get away with it since he did make a kick ass Iron Man movie.

He'd need to buff up a lot more. Like Pitt did for Achilles or Jackman for Wolverine. Hell, or like anyone from 300. Then he'd make a good Thor.

Exactly. Urban doesn't look imposing to me in those pictures, just fit, like he's done some running.

Don't forget Rebecca Romjin (Mystique in X-series, Joan the Mouse in Punisher), or Ben Foster (Spacker Dave in Punisher, Angel in X3).

The more I think about it, the more I like Nikolaj Coster-Waldau for Thor.

Nikolaj is tall and looking by the defunct show New Amsterdam he can charm the audiences quickly. Charm better than McKidd (more of a grizzled warrior type) and Urban.

^That's true, but I like Nikolaj's accent the best for Thor, and his voice isn't bad, either.

I dunno, the more I think about it, if star power is what you want...Russel Crowe would actually make a downright decent Thor.

He's a big guy, he puts on mass with relative ease, and is one hell of an actor too boot. The more I look at him, the more I think he could not only carry this movie but do a damn good job of it.

You know, I've been reluctant to suggest him because of his typecast as Maximus but I agree that he would make a great Thor.

He's 5'11", so he'd need lifts, and yeah it is a bit of type casting...I suppose...though not really, when you think about it...certainly no more so than recasting the guy who played Achilles.

In Master & Commander, he looked bigger than Paul Bettany, who is 6'3"

Russell Crowe exellent choise for THOR?

For some reason I just can't see it...

I think he's made it pretty clear in the past, he has no interest in playing a superhero.

A lot of suggestions are good castings for a generic Viking, but they are no Thor. I see no Thor in Karl Urban or Russell Crowe.

Nikolaj Coster-Waldau looks promising and Pitt fits well.

I can buy that. Now if only they weren't looking for some super young Thor.

I've always thought Moeller would make a great Heimdall, but I couldn't see him holding down Thor in a modern film. Maybe back in the 80's.

Thank **** for that. I've no interest in seeing him play a superhero - so that works out well.

Urban's a no-go for me too, for reasons I've posted on here previously.

he's the guy on the far left

Too old and not 'pretty' enough (plus he'll always be Brakus from 'Best of the Best 2' to me ;) )

Yeah, I could see him as Heindall. Definatley.

Thor: Sean Bean

Loki: Crispin Glover

Warriors Three
Hogun: Jason Isaacs
Volstagg: Brendan Gleeson
Fandral: David Wenham

Odin: Bernard Hill

Baldur: Karl Urban

Enchantress: Naomi Watts

Sif: Charlize Theron

Sean Bean as Thor?

God, no.

Simply put: Too old, too short.

Urban as Balder? No. But to be honest, I'm definately starting to warm to the Urban as Thor idea that's been going for years. As I've posted numerous times on the subject - I've always been adamantly opposed to Urban as Thor ,but, after watching Pathfinder the other day, I'm starting to think he's maybe the best person to play him. I'm prepared to eat a bit of humble pie and conceed that maybe I've been wrong all these years.

I'd certainly welcome Isaacs and Gleeson (although Gleeson is also a viable candidate for Odin), but I'd prefer Vincent Cassell as Loki.
