IMO Weidman &
Fail Sonnen don't offer the same threat. Fail needs to be hopped up on TRT just to have the striking power of an 8year old. He hit Silva like 1000x and didn't finish him or even mess his face up. He's not a finisher unless you're totally useless off your back like Stann was (Fail's only UFC finish). Weidman can at least hit hard enough to cause concern. I've never been impressed w/Fail's boxing

To be fair to Chael he did tag Silva once or twice with solid strikes in their first fight, not only is tagging someone like Silva impressive enough but he did wobble Silva once or twice. He didn't hurt him badly, but enough that caught Silva off balance making him stagger, also throwing him off his game allowing Sonnen to secure takedowns or tag him a few more times.

Sonnen isn't a finisher though, but he is more of a fighter, he is relentless in coming forward & keeps sustained pressure throughout fights.

Even though Weidman does have some power, he isn't more explosive than Vitor or quicker than anyone Silva has already faced, he doesn't have the tools or is relentless enough to force errors from Silva either.. if anything I think Weidman offers less of a threat than Sonnen, more in line with Okami.

Is this how desperate the UFC has become? They're promoting Weidman as if he's the defending champ.

I'm not sure how I'd feel if someone PM'd me a stream

You respect everyone..all that silly ass taunting got u knocked the f out
I LOVE IT

Stunned. He straight up just....*sigh*

God dammit.

ok anyone else feel cheated anderson should of just given the title to weidman with the way he went out and it would of been same result

did he not want belt anymore now he doesn't even want a rematch

He had that coming after taunting so much, someone was going to capitalize.

i think he underestimated his power

he didn't get that cocky with hendo and vitor because they have renowned ko power

but he did it to more pillowfisted guys like bonnar/forrest/sonnen,etc.

Can a champion opt to relinquish a belt? would Dana even allow it? Its odd that he wants no rematch but still wants to continue his career.

i really want a rematch because i feel silva would win this fight showed me nothing it showed me if you drop your hands, taunt and leave your chin their and let a guy hit you then your likely to get knocked out LOL

dan henderson could of got put to sleep if he did want anderson did

anderson got out of Chris's subs landed good strikes and even stuffed a takedown

If I were Chris, I would be overjoyed I was champ but I would demand a rematch because what Silva did was not right

I can see why Silva wouldn't want a rematch. If he won the rematch, it'd mean he's stuck in that division and is there really anything else he needs to prove at middleweight? I think he wants to move up to LHW and potentially fight Jon Jones or mainly be in super fights. He'd get more money and interest in a fresh division than staying around, making middleweights look bad

As much as I like Silva, he deserved that, if Weidman hadn't clipped & KO'd him it would have turned into another Damian Maia fight. After he took him down & kept him there for a few minutes Anderson seemed more content in just stopping Weidman from taking him down & just making a fool out of Weidman. Rather than doing what he did against Bonner which was stop the takedown & start opening him up with kicks & punches.

It's such a shame the greatest fighter in the history of MMA had his long run & his indestructible image ruined by Chris Weidman.. a guy who I don't even feel is in the top 5 toughest opponents that Anderson has faced. He's MMA's Buster Douglas.

I don't feel this is the fight in which Anderson finally looked like he was on the downward slope of his career though, it could be though if he doesn't threat his next opponent a little more seriously.

better look at the idiocy

The thing about andy is that he baits people to commit so he can counter, in this particular instance, he wasn't doing anything but misjudging CW's reach.
Even if he was "doing this thing" he was in no position to counter. If I was CW I would have swung for the fences.

The thing is even after tonight, I don’t know how good Weidman is. He’s obviously very good, but is he a champion that will keep the belt for years, or will Belfort knock his head off? Belfort won’t be fighting with his hands down; do it in Brazil for fun too.
